Apparently it's a Grammy nominated artist, not really current but "bloody brilliant" according to some comments and tweets of "people who know".

Hmm... Grammy Nominee, "We've been listening to 90's" comment, not really current... could Gina G be coming back?! I hope so! And she did say that she would be back in the New Year with a new song "when the time was right" after her last single last year..........

I'd rather have Geri Halliwell to be honest. Were the Spice Girls ever nominated for a Grammy even? Lol

Gina G is fabulous and I love Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit but I can't see her current sound doing any better than Dana International did last year. It HAS to be a freaking good Pop track is she's back but I still can't see the "bloody brilliance" in her being picked.

:(

I'd love it to be Geri even though she is terrible live etc, but I just want a new song from her asap!
Nice! excited, I hope it will be as good or better than Blue :D
Engelbert Humperdinck is the latest vicious rumour that ticks all the boxes (over 75, grammy nominated, platinum selling etc...). Nooooooo :drama:

Literally a MASSIVE name! :D

Literally a MASSIVE name! :D

He's had grammy nominations, a long lasting career and is in the rare club (so rare that it features only Rihanna, Celine Dion, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Beatles and John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John besides himself) of having TWO million selling singles in the UK.

What a coup, what a name, pats on the back all round at the BBC :cheer: The fact that his career peak was almost 50 years ago isn't an issue at all!

I'm preparing to just pretend that I'm from Sweden and my country will be represented by a decent act :P

If it IS Engelbert then there's a faint glimmer of hope in that the song could be written by Dan Wilson (of Semisonic and wrote Someone Like You with Adele!), James Morrison (!) and Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall songwriter). That's all assuming that this is relevant of course.

Maybe we'll top the jury voting

Imagine Jade Ewen and Engelbert teaming up for their own 'Mirakel'!

Shirley Bassey is being rumoured on Popjustice :)

Anita Singh, Telegraph Showbiz editor:

Can't reveal until tonight. But if I tell you it's a Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling artist... you still won't guess it #eurovision
So the BBC says this act is an "international music legend" #eurovision

But I''ve got to be honest - if you're of tender years you'll hear the name and say "Who??!" Now I must stop with the clues #eurovision

If all of that is correct it's blatantly the Hump! 7 US top 20 albums and 6 top 20 singles is probably an international music legend to he BBC, the's had Grammy nominations and he's old and irrelevant enough that young people won't have the faintest idea who he is. The latter would certainly rule out Tom Jones and probably Shirley too.

We're all going to be against this, BUT I get the feeling we could actually go top 5. Hopefully, Italy style! Such a shame really. I'd rather we sent a credible pop song. Like Sweden seem to be sending most of the time and something along the lines of Blue wouldn't have hurt for a second year! :(

Nothing stopped Dana writing a stunning track for Boaz in 2008! :o
