May 17, 201213 yr Presumably that's Theo from Hurts rather than R THEO. Bizarre that presumably John Ola Sand is personally inviting Hurts to the contest though :o
May 17, 201213 yr It's the BBC though. There's probably people working at the BBC who don't even know who Hurts are, or just how popular they are across Europe. So whoever makes these decisions probably read the band name "Hurts", thought to themselves "pfft, never heard of them", couldn't be bothered to research them and et voila...Englebert - the BBC's answer to bringing Eurovision back to the UK. I believe they're asking Leo Sayer to represent us in 2013. :kink:

May 20, 201213 yr I would expect low ratings for Eurovision on Saturday thinking about it. Norway V England is on ITV1 at the same time. I know they don't target the same audience. However the casual viewer may be more inclined to the football than Eurovision.
May 20, 201213 yr Pfft. You can watch a football match pretty much anytime, Eurovision is a once per year EVENT.

May 20, 201213 yr 1) It's only a friendly 2) It's on ITV and their football coverage is unimaginably awful
May 20, 201213 yr Who really cares that much about a friendly? A friendly still normally gets 6 or 7 million people watching it.
May 20, 201213 yr Author Surely it's less competition than Britain's Got Talent was last year though?
May 20, 201213 yr The Eurovision got 9.68m last year (and was the highest rated UK programme of the week), compared to 8.61m for Britain's Got Talent. They both started at the same time too, so I'm presuming the Eurovision won when they clashed too... Not sure what was on after BGT, but it's not in ITV1's top 30 shows of the week. I'd say we're probably looking at slightly less for the Eurovision this year; maybe 8.5-9m and the football will get 4.5-5m. And for anyone who's interested... 2011: 9.68m 2010: 5.59m 2009: 7.91m 2008: 7.15m 2007: 8.77m 2006: 8.33m 2005: 7.97m 2004: 8.38m 2003: 7.94m 2002: 7.81m 2001: 6.98m 2000: 6.54m 1999: 8.91m Hopefully the abysmal 2010 rating will ensure the BBC don't decide to EVER send someone like Josh Dubovie/Pete Waterman again...
May 20, 201213 yr Its hard to know, last year some people reckon having both jedward and Blue drew some interest. This year Englebert has drawn some attention to the contest and again Jedward will do the same so hopefully at worst it can beat the ratings of 2010. Here in Ireland Eurovision always gets massive ratings for both the semis and final and im sure it will be the same this year, to my knowledge Eurovision always tops the ratings here thats despite everyone you meet says they dont watch it!! Either way the trend will continue in that the voting will be the peak ratings for the show.
May 21, 201213 yr It wont pull as many viewers as last year as Blue and Jedward created alot of hype and a friendly Ireland vs Uk battle which brought attention to the show. While Jedward are there again the hype is not quiet the same.
May 21, 201213 yr I reckon Eurovision will get around 7.5-8 million viewers which is still pretty decent. The England friendly will appeal to a different audience altogether who probably wouldn't be watching Eurovision had ITV been showing a repeat of Inspector Morse on Saturday night instead. :D
May 25, 201213 yr Author I don't think we will get as many viewers as last year, purely because of the good weather! There is a good chance that the TV share could be similar to last year though as it is getting the most publicity I've ever seen I think! Sweden, Spain, Russia, Ireland, UK have all been in the news recently. In regards to our song, after initially being indifferent then growing to like it a bit more - now I just think it's boring and dull and I haven't overplayed it at all. I've listened to it 5 times at most. However, I will still support him as he is from the UK of course! :kink: I can see him struggling to make top 15 now though. Anyway, I'M VERY EXCITED FOR TOMORROW!! :D
May 25, 201213 yr I think I might have just accidentally closed this thread. Tis iPad is taking so much getting used to!
May 26, 201213 yr However, I will still support him as he is from the UK of course! :kink: I can see him struggling to make top 15 now though. As much as I'll be interested in seeing just how well Englebert does, I'm fully in camp Sweden 4 vict*.*ry tonight. :D
May 26, 201213 yr Good to see Engelbert finally getting some serious movement on iTunes after lurking near the bottom of the Top 100 all week - Its up to #54 now from #74 this morning - And with his CD single still #1 on Amazon [Outselling The Wanted] it should see him return to the Top 75 on Sunday  And just on the above i love Loreen however im not going to be suprised if she does not landslide it - Yes all the forums are going mad about it but that is all us gays doing that  Will the 100+ million viewers tonight share our views and although its doing well on iTunes its in mainly countries that you would expect it to be doing well in - Im sure she will win but will not be shocked if she finishes in 8th or something iv seen it happen too many times before
