Great, love a bit of Kate. Very excited to hear this, although given the concept of the album I expect it to be a bit ambient.

Finally! Even though it does sound like it'll be very ambient and along the lines of Aerial I'm just happy to have any new material at this point. Plus Aerial turned out to be really good actually so I hope I'm surprised by it. The concept certainly sounds interesting..

Really looking forward to this even if the 'theme' doesn't really excite me yet

Kate Bush to release new album, 50 Words for Snow

Singer's ninth album will be released on 21 November, just six months after her last album.

Kate Bush has announced details of a new album, 50 Words for Snow. The album, her ninth, will hit stores only six months after her last LP, Director's Cut.

The record, which is to be released on her own label Fish People, is due on 21 November. Unlike Director's Cut, which saw Bush reinterpreting tracks from her back catalogue, 50 Words for Snow will consist entirely of new material.

There are seven tracks on the album, which has a running time of 65 minutes. According to the press release, the tracks are "set against a background of falling snow".

Bush currently appears to be in the most productive part of her career since the early 80s. When she released the double album Aerial in 2005, it was her first release in 12 years after devoting herself to her family.

The full tracklisting (and track lengths) for 50 Words for Snow is as follows:

1. Snowflakes (9:55)

2. Lake Tahoe (11:26)

3. Misty (13:49)

4. Wild man (7:03)

5. Snowed in at Wheeler Street (8:11)

6. 50 Words for Snow (8:10)

7. Among Angels (6:55)

Guessing (based on nothing) that Wild Man will be the single then. It sounds a little more interesting now.

This could be sensational. I'm hoping for Newsom-esque music.
I do love a bit of Kate, the concept doesn't really excite me as yet but I expect I'll be more excited nearer the date. It's just an ambient kind of album as it will inevitably be doesn't excite me, let alone when all the tracks are that long. Maybe I'm too mainstream, I just largely don't like such long tracks.
I am massively looking forward to this and actually quite like the sound of the concept. An ambient wintertime album sounds divine to me!
Bloody thrilled and excited. Love the theme but don't want to speculate on any direction yet. For all we know it could be a CHRISTMAS THEMED record.

I'm not sure she'll bother with a single to be honest. Although any track has potential to be edited down to a single length I guess. Whether that would be a good idea though is debateable

Good to have some new material from her again.

oh

uh

well, we'll see, but this doesn't look as promising as i had hoped

I think Goddess Bush has kind of deserted the 'single' these days..... I think it'll be just the album, with an array of limited editions etc. What worries me most is that she recorded this album at the same time as the Godawful Directors Cut..... so I'm imagining tuneless, aimless piano noodlings..... but I really really hope not, as, let's be honest, Kate Bush is second to none, but she has to work hard to erase the memory of Directors Cut which left many fans, myself included, a bit bruised and sceptical.

Also, the cover art is absolutely rancid..... a friend of mine said it looked like one of the Christmas cards painted by people with no arms..... :(

I don't mind it, but it's a bit long. Not in an 'ugh, it's 7 minutes not mainstream omg no' way, it just doesn't really go anywhere for those 7 minutes, I do like a long song if it progressively builds up. I like the way it subtly builds up a bit, but I do wish there was more to it. The radio edit is better actually, I'll wait for a version without the guy talking at the start with bated breath!
Didn't move me much on first (admittedly cursory) listen. Just sounded dull. What happened to her spark? It's been pretty much lost since 1986

Wild Man is utterly gorgeous. I love it!

Ready to activate Kate-stan mode...

Sounds quite similar to her best era (The Dreaming)... and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it... like all the best songs, it's not immediate.... but after 5 or 6 plays... I'm completely hooked..... after the career lowpoint that was Director's Cut, this is a phenomenal return. It'll be completely over the heads of 90% of music buyers in 2011 (and most of Buzzjack members, unfortunately), but that kind of adds to the appeal.

Brilliant.
