March 13, 201213 yr I think Japan are in the top 5 biggest markets. (I'm sure I've read somewhere they're above the UK actually - I THINK I remember reading it was 01. USA, 02. Japan, 03. Germany and 04. UK) Could be wrong on all of this (probably am wrong) but I am sure I remember reading something like that. It's fantastic news for her, either way!
March 13, 201213 yr International chart? Is that the Japan Hot 100, because on Wiki it says #18 at the moment, and they're normally quick to update. Only 2 British artists and 1 other international artist have ever got #1 there (Leona, Mika, Lady Gaga), so if Pixie is #1 there that'd be the 4th. But if it's just an international chart, good achievement, not AS great though. I can't find anything else about it online. Japan are a huge music market though, definitely in the top 5, and it's notoriously hard for international artists to break, so that's excellent.
March 13, 201213 yr I remember reading sales from Japan's chart and they were way above the Uk's Sales! Anyway who would have thought All About Tonight would crack Japan, gives hope for it hitting America now! She's not even performed in Japan yet! Lets hope the album goes top 10 though!
March 13, 201213 yr OCC definately said that the UK is the second biggest music market in the world at the moment, and if you look at some of the sales i.e Adele - 4million copies sold here, Take That - 2.8million copies sold in the UK, Michael Buble - 2million+, Leona - 3 million copies sold, Susan Boyle etc they would look to be right. Only America can rival sales like that Edited March 13, 201213 yr by jay727
March 13, 201213 yr @pixiesongs (her official Twitter) tweeted it, I think they mean the Oricon chart, which does have a site but all in Japanese (which is probably why it can't easily be found by googling. Anyway, 1 on the official chart doesn't necssacarily mean a high overall position, as their market is dominated by Japanese acts, and the odd Korean act, mostly.
March 13, 201213 yr What is this..? *Oricon mode on* All About Tonight has no way broke through Japan. iTunes Japan comprises of literally nothing in Japan. Also Japan is the second largest music market in the world. 1 normal album in Japan price=around £35-£45 1 normal album in UK price=around £10 Not to mention the PHYSICAL single sales there are ENORMOUS. This just show why western artists want to come to Japan and break through the market. 1 normal edition single in Japan=£15-20. Unless you are the likes of Lady Gaga or Avril Lavigne, you haven't made it in Japan yet. If you're not cute or not extravagant they won't like you. Simple as. Or if you're not an idol group. All About Tonight hasn't even charted in the Oricon singles chart ever since I began tracking the chart. Has it even been released in the physical format? It hasn't charted on Recochoku Chaku-Uta or Recochoku Chaku-Uta Full or even digitally at the RIAJ chart yet. ----------- People underestimate the Japanese market. -_-
March 13, 201213 yr Oricon, has Pixie not charted on the International Chart at all? I remember I Wanna Go topped that but got to like #75 or something ridiculous so I don't find it too difficult to believe All About Tonight could get to #1 on there and not reach the proper chart. And yes, the markets go like: 1. USA 2. Japan 3. Germany 4. UK 5. France

And yes, the markets go like: 1. USA 2. Japan 3. Germany 4. UK 5. France I Wanna Go hasn't topped Billboard Japan Hot 100, the only songs to do that were Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love, Mika's Blame It On Me and Lady Gaga's Born This Way. Billboard Japan Hot 100 also doesn't even count digital sales making the entire chart format ridiculous. Digitally Japan I read somewhere has the largest digital market in the world. Even Ringtone sales have gone passed 2,000,000 downloads and they're expensive as hell as well. All About Tonight wasn't released in the physical format so it could not have charted in Oricon Singles Ranking at all. Not to mention it's extremely hard to get into it. Lady Gaga's Born This Way physically only just about managed to go Top 10 and that was because she was in Japan promoting further on the line to stabilize the sales. That's because western single physical CD lacks one thing, PICTURES/BOOKLETS/LEAFLETS/POSTCARDS/TRADING CARDS. They have 0 goods in them so people aren't inclined to buy the single for nothing. As example would be Japan's current top girl group, AKB48 which usually releases 4 editions combined with a fifth theatre edition. They attached to them handshake events, meet and greet and concert tickets at their local theatre which they would perform regularly every week which attracts many male fans to buy the single just to enter the lottery to win one of them prizes. Western artists who release singles there lack this thus underperform in the single chart. I still can't understand how Pixie got #18 with All About Tonight. 0 Physical Single Release, downloads uncounted. That means she charted due to airplay?
March 13, 201213 yr @jay727 Here is evidence in WHY Japan is the second biggest music market and only just behind US. March 13, 201213 yr It was Pixie's Japanise Label that tweeted her, All About Tonight will only continue to rise!

March 13, 201213 yr It was Pixie's Japanise Label that tweeted her, All About Tonight will only continue to rise! It's not even on the charts at the moment, how is it rising Lee.. Did we REALLY need all that Japanese charts crap? Yes, I only provided statistics to say people are wrong :D She defo got to #18 on the Japan Billboard 100, Congrats to her! That's true, but that chart means nothing though so interpret it as you wish

March 13, 201213 yr I said " it will only continue to rise" ? Well the higher it goes on the charts will eventually lead to more sales! Hoping she promotes soon. It's encouraging though at the end of the day, and has done better than The Wanted etc in Japan... I can get you but The Wanted hasn't even got an official release yet in Japan, whereas Pixie has All About Tonight sent to the radios clearly (that's the only way I could find in why it charted in the Billboard J-Hot 100). There is also no sales to be picked up from going higher as the chart doesn't calculate digital sales and All About Tonight hasn't got a physical single release there. I'm not trying to hate on Pixie, I'm just trying to explain something.

March 13, 201213 yr Not always, plus a physical single release from a Western artist doesn't do justice there. It practically won't sell over 10k :| Plus if Pixie wants to break into Japan, she needs to actually promote there for a long period of time, have a ton of billboards and have things attached to her album and single release (if she's ever going to do that). It doesn't matter if the song is a hit on airplay or digitally, to get physical sales is purely 90% fanbase so she'll need a hardcore fanbase there to start off with. Yes, I only provided statistics to say people are wrong :D That's true, but that chart means nothing though so interpret it as you wish  And made yourself look stuck up in the process. There wasn't really any need for all those stats, you could simply have said the info givne was wrong.
