August 10, 201212 yr The song has never gotten anywhere near #99 or #100 on US iTunes. #129 is indeed a new peak. The song is climbing on iTunes and radio, it charting on Pop Songs at #36 is not depressing as it's quite obvious it's only going to climb from there, and essentially the song is on its way to becoming a hit. You need to learn to actually understand the charts before you start making judgments. Heart Skips A Beat is doing fine and the "hideous rent-a-rappers" haven't hurt it at all. Pulling HSAB from radio and pushing any other song right now would be an idiotic move. Edited August 10, 201212 yr by Umi
August 10, 201212 yr Firstly A) I do understand how it works out there with charts and stuff (and it sucks if you want my honest opinion) and B) I think you'll find it did peak near 99/100 on iTunes when it was released back in May and he was on the One Direction tour! If it can take Cher Lloyd a matter of a few weeks to start climbing iTunes and doing well out there and likewise with 1D/The Wanted etc then with the best will in the world it's not making Olly look good when a song that's been out there for over two months and a bit now on iTunes can't even break the bottom end of the Billboard Hot 100. None of this is a criticism on Olly cos' he's been putting in the work at his end of the bargain. It's Columbia's, they're a shite excuse for a label! Edited August 10, 201212 yr by ThePensmith
August 10, 201212 yr Well personally I don't remember it getting anywhere near that high and I really don't think you understand the charts at all if you think just because Olly hasn't instantly smashed, he's not going to. It took Ellie Goulding over a year to crack the top 10 of the Hot 100, it's taken Ed Sheeran a good few months to even chart in the lower end. Olly might not be on the Hot 100 NOW but it's very likely he'll be there in a few weeks and who knows how high he will get.
August 13, 201212 yr Some happier news for this thread...Olly was out in Sweden over the weekend doing some promo (including a performance/interview on this really obscure kid's TV show that I put on the Olly Murs Daily YouTube channel) and as a result 'Heart Skips A Beat' is now #1 on iTunes there! Europe's really taken to him - I imagine now 'Oh My Goodness' is out in Germany that he'll gain an even bigger fanbase there :)
September 3, 201212 yr The US release of 'In Case You Didn't Know' has been postponed - no new release date has been confirmed as of yet :( I didn't see this coming if I'm honest cos' Ed Sheeran managed to release a fairly well selling album off little single success out there, as did Rebecca Ferguson, but really when you consider how Columbia have tried to piss around with 'Heart Skips A Beat' and him out there it's not surprising. Poor Olly :( In happier news he was amazing at Hylands Park, Chelmsford yesterday, fantastic show back in front of his Essex crowd! Loved every second of it! 'Oh My Goodness' is now climbing in Germany - he performed it on 'The Dome' last weekend and it's now at #20 :) Edited September 3, 201212 yr by ThePensmith
