No. Venus was the choice for the second single because it performed OK when released on iTunes, but they wanted something massive, then DWUW was released and reached #1 on iTunes in over 60 countries (something that even Applause couldn't do), so she decided to put DWUW as a second single. Same thing happened with A-YO and MR.

 

'Venus' was announced as the second single before anyone had even heard that or DWUW, then when we all heard 'Venus' later on realised they probably made the right decision scrapping the idea.

 

#1 on the worldwide iTunes chart!!!!!! :cheer:

I know, but I'm referring to the fact that DWUW replaced Venus as the second single. The fact that she announced Venus before DWUW doesn't mean anything because it wasn't released, moreover, DWUW was released a week before Venus, and she replaced it with DWUW for the warm welcome that this song witnessed at its release.

That's why she canceled the video for Venus that would be filmed with Klein. I believe that the change in plans hindered the filming of the DWUW video, and when they were ready to shoot the video for this song, the controversy was already in place, and she chose not to release it.

 

And that's a shame because this song would be #1 all over the world.

the DWUW situation was so odd... it's like she released during it's release that he was a dodgy character and she just stopped any promotion for the song. Utterly bizarre.

 

'Venus' is the only weak moment on 'ARTPOP' tbh... everything else is glorious to the ear...

I hope the DWUW video never sees the light of day. Let's just pretend the DWUW Voice Performance with Xtina is the official video.
