I really hope that Gaga returns to her usual standards with this album. I've actually got a good feeling and I'm looking forward to it.

 

More great pop tunes and less statements and controversial imagery please.

I have this feeling the album is going to have success like 21 by Adele. With the pre-order being available so long before the release she's going to open with the biggest album sales of the year!!!!!!

Singer says free app will come as an 'interactive jewel case' rather than big-budget inheritor to Björk's Biophilia

ARTPOP may not be much of a "multimedia experience" after all. Despite having previously described her new album as an "a musical and visual engineering system", Lady Gaga has indicated that the app component is merely "an interactive jewel case".

 

Back when ARTPOP was announced, fans imagined it as a big-budget inheritor to Björk's Biophilia: a chimeric mash-up of music and app, exploring multiple themes across symbiotic technologies. "ARTPOP is not just an ALBUM it's a PROJECT," Gaga said at the time. Although the music would be released "in regular physical and digitals", the app was the main event: "an iPad, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application ... that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga-inspired games, fashion updates, magazines."

 

Instead, the ARTPOP app has begun to sound like an interactive advertisement, similar to the app for Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail. "The app is in essence, an interactive jewel case," Gaga tweeted yesterday. While fans will be able to "socialise" through the software, it's not an improvement on (or even an alternative to) buying the album: "The app is free, available in App Stores on your device. You can purchase the music through the app once it's downloaded."

 

Despite the disappointment of Lady Gaga's reined-in software ambitions, there's still lots to anticipate. ARTPOP's lead single, Applause, will be revealed on 19 August, ahead of the singer's performance at the MTV Video Music awards. The video will be released that same day. "[The song] is full of happiness," Gaga told Women's Wear Daily. "What I'm saying ... is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.'"

That is so much better and so much less pretentious - that 'project' would have chased people away. Good decision to keep it all on the music and for fewer pretentious statements about the project. Music at the front, let's get a new Bad Romance!
