This isn't bad it has to be said... Interesting concept (although not really all that surprising for those of us who have seen The Dark Knight and that machine Bruce Wayne created that tracks every single person in Gotham), the show takes that idea and runs with it in New York city.. A rich inventor (Michael Emerson) creates a machine that can "predict" terrorist activity before it happens, but as an interesting side-effect, it can predict any number of crimes, but the information is inexact and the only clues provided are Social Security numbers. The inventor is unable to act on this himself, so enlists the help of a "burned out" Special Forces operative (Jim Caviezel) to aid him. Think Minority Report meets The Equaliser with a dash of Bourne Identity......

Created by Jonathan Nolan (writer of Dark Knight, Memento, The Prestige) and executive producer J J Abrams (Lost, Fringe, Alias), this really cant go wrong... Watched first episode, and this has serious potential, well plotted well acted, well written and with some seriously slick direction and editing.... Could be the best new show of the year....

CBS seem to have a mountain of faith in this putting it at 9pm on Thursdays. Will be interesting to see if it's numbers take a hit in a month when Bones returns Nov 3rd.

Bones is crap though, this isn't.... :P

I thought this was alright...not sure whether I'll stick with it though. If it's just going to be one case every week then I think the concept will get tired pretty quickly, especially if the first case was anything to go by. I mean, you could see the "twist" coming from a mile off.

The numbers are holding up well in a really tough timeslot. At least comparable to CSI from last year.
Episode 7 is brilliant. DID NOT see that twist at all.

Really? I suppose him being

Elias

was a bit of a shock, but him being bad was painfully obvious I thought. As soon as I saw him protecting him I thought 'they can't do the same story as last week again, he must be bad'. Maybe that was just me though.

As for the show itself, it's one of the better ones this year, not neccesarily my favourite though. I really like Finch and Reese, but it's been a tad predictable so far, the only one I didn't guess correctly was Linda Cardellini as the doctor.

I was completely shocked. I just saw the guy as being a small part of Elias plot

not actually being Elias

. I thought the episode was well paced, and it shows the downside of the machine aswell. I don't know where the Elias storyline is heading now, but I'd bet we don't see him for a couple of episodes now.

I was shocked too, but it's a shame they revealed who Elias is. I thought it would take more episodes to find out who he really is. Great episode and show though!

Mid-finale was great!

Loving the fact the two police detectives are getting much more screen time of late.

I've just caught up on the latest 3 episodes (18-20), watching 19 thinking 'where are they going to go now' and then BAM episode 20 brings in a fantastic twist. I really did not see that final scene coming at all.

Haha I'm the same! I've watched 18-19, might watch 20 later tonight. I got a bit complacenet with it, after the hitaus. Even though it's a procedural, I'd forgotten how good this show is. Can't believe a UK channel hasn't picked this up yet, especially since it's probably the freshman breakout drama of the year.

I was a little surprised they didn't keep the Elias story for the finale, seeing as how everything seemed to be building up to that, but I think this could potentially be better.

It did surprise me that nobody picked it up here, it seems like the kind of thing Channel 5 would be fawning over given their love for US procedurals. Even if they didn't, one of the digital channels ought to have done.

I still don't think we've seen the very last of Elias. Probably saving him again for next season. I liked the twist, although I wonder why the CIA wanted them both dead. Has to be something to do with the Machine. That was no conincidence when the worker mentioned it!

It does seem like perfect Channel 5. But how many CBS shows do they have? The whole CSI franchise, The Mentalist. Plus they have The Walking Dead and Once Upon A Time. They've got a lot of US imports. Perhaps PoI is destined not to be picked up by a UK channel.

Ooh, hopefully it can gather a small following over here now and I might try to keep up at UK pace though I was already considering catching up to US pace.
A lot of this years hits seem to be hitting the UK at once. C5 and E4 have picked up a load of them.

To be honest I'm surprised it has taken this long for a UK network to pick it up. CBS are probably going to turn PoI into their next big franchise once CSI has it's final fall. There's bit more mythology behind it than your typical procedural, but reckon it will do well on Five. The Mentalist still gets good ratings on there doesn't it? I expect similar for PoI.

Unsurprisingly Five have picked up the rights to air this now!

Haha, I'm surprised they didn't do so sooner! I suppose now that CSI: Miami is dead they can put this in its place. The season finale looks pretty incredible to be fair, I absolutely LOVED last weeks episode too. It's nice to finally have some pieces slotting together.

I get the feeling the guy who played Goodwin in LOST is not actually dead. There's something more to what happened to him that we're lead to believe anyway. Looking forward to the finale for sure.
