April 24, 201213 yr Well, you can say that for any new show/artist anyway. Viewers on that channel watch shows based around how any second-class celebrity goes shopping for 55th time in the season; the 'unknown' status of TheSats is hardly a disadvantage here. Plus, they will be pretty much the only show featuring an active music act, because I doubt the Ice-T & girl's program shows much of Ice's work as a rapper and the only other show I've found goes around the life of rockstars'...wives http://uk.eonline.com/on/shows/married_to_rock/index.html That can be their selling point: the life of a popstar/popsinger. A show heavily focused on the professional side of their lives but also revealing their efforts to make a balance with their personal life. It's actually been marketed that way since the very first rumour came out. The sentence most repeated since then has been 'the show will follow the girls trying to crack the States after landing a US record deal'. And they won't be seen as a 'random' group as there hasn't been a global girlband on the vibe of Spice Girls since...well, the Spice Girls. Pussycat Dolls had a completely different system. There is not one girlband out there at the moment, so the mere fact of being one will make them different.
May 8, 201213 yr Frankie and Mollie confirmed this morning on Radio 1 that they're going to LA in a couple of weeks to record the pilot episode of their show with E! Let the conquest begin!
May 8, 201213 yr I really hope this show helps them over there. They're really likeable, fun and 'normal' so hopefully the show will help people get to know them and their personalities without them thinking they're just plastic, arrogant divas etc. I think they'll really take to Mollie especially. Not sure how they'll get everyone tuning in for some random, unknown girlband though but who knows! :) Edited May 8, 201213 yr by Encore

I just hope whenever they decide to release a song (*cough* Higher or All Fired Up) that they have a proper go at it. They should be doing huge radio tours and be promoting themselves everywhere they can and get involved with the fans as much as possible. Doing stuff like ustreams, meet and greets, Twitter Q&A's and stuff would really help them.

May 8, 201213 yr I actually wanted another series of The Saturdays 24/7 in the UK but I guess hopefully they'll show their American show in the UK.
May 9, 201213 yr I honestly fear the worst. Drama for the sake of drama, created arguments, fake & tacky. I really can't see E! commissioning a programme which is all smiles and girls getting along. If they really want to have a go at America, I wish they'd just try it by actually being popstars - working their asses off across the nation's radio stations, plugging a single. The reality route... hmm. It sets the tone.

It smacks of being the 'easy way' to crack America, by becoming reality stars first (which I highly doubt they will.) Have confidence in your music, work your backside off and if you're successful, you're successful. I can't see this show being or doing any good.

I can see them getting one decent size hit in America and that's it tbh, what record label are they even signed with?

Have confidence in your music, work your backside off and if you're successful, you're successful. I can't see this show being or doing any good. Well, we can argue about our ideal scenario but we also have to be realistics and think that if they haven't cracked Europe and kept healthy sales in their homeland, of course they have no chance in such a huge and complex market as the US is. And as a newcomers, they don't have the huge fanbase One Direction had even before having a hit single and their label don't own half of US radio stations as The Wanted's does, so they have no guarantee they are going to be played. If The Saturdays are still around is basically because they are a multi-sided business: endorsements and publicity represent an income as important as music sales. They are heavily dependant on their core fanbase who pays for albums and tour tickets. Given their great personalities is fair to think their TV shows represent a big chance of developing that fanbase. As for the channel wanting to add more drama to the show...if they wanted a group of bitches they would get any of the dozens of rookie bands that must be around LA someone that could be easy to manipulate. They wouldn't get a group that has full control over their brand and business, with a consolidated personality and a definded relationship among the members...they wouldn't get "The Saturdays". I'm incredibly excited for this. I want music from them but I also enjoy immensely their personalities. Their mix of charming and "white" fun can result into a very distinctive show among E!'s programs. It will help them getting new endorsements and having their songs played every week to a few millions of people could get them a few well needed sales.
May 10, 201213 yr It makes me lol when they're described like they're a really successful business. Such a good business and brand, yet can barely rack up decent sales? That doesn't add up. Securing a few endorsements doesn't entirely excuse or make up for the record sales. It's a bonus for them, but this exposure has hardly benefited their popularity at all. I think you overestimate their power to have such control over an American channel such as E! That channel wants throw away, trashy entertainment. That's their thing. I'm sure The Saturdays will act in whatever way, if they think it'll turn them into stars in America.

June 15, 201213 yr I wish they'd get a move on. :( I know Rochelle and Una have weddings, but career wise, right now is the best opportunity to break through to the US. In the past year we've had Ellie Goulding, The Wanted, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Adele, Jessie J, Alex Clare, Calvin Harris, Rebecca Ferguson, Emeli Sande, Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah, The Script and Rita Ora all from the UK/Ireland having different levels of success on the Billboard singles/albums charts. Obviously Adele has been huge worldwide but the others all managed to chart and create a fanbase simply by doing radio tours and promoting everywhere in America. British artists are the *in* thing right now over there, and there's no girl group at all in America right now. I just pray that they go with 'All Fired Up' or 'Higher' as the launch single over there and not 'Missing You' or 'Notorious' (or '30 Days' :o). I just hope that they don't go over there and flop, especially considering all the other British artists are doing so well. Mind you, they have that TV documentary thing but that could take ages to film/release and the hype with British artists might have died down/or the show could have been a flop and dented their reputation before they even release anything.

June 15, 201213 yr Una signed up to a sports related ITV1 talent show, so I'm not exactly sure where that fits in with American plans.
June 15, 201213 yr Maybe theyll be able to perform on that show as I'm guessing it'll have good viewing figures. :)
June 16, 201213 yr Una signed up to a sports related ITV1 talent show, so I'm not exactly sure where that fits in with American plans. Insiders are saying they've already started the filming of the pilot...in the UK. They say they'll move to the US in September to record the rest of the series. And in anycase, that program shouldn't take them too long. It's only three episodes and they all air in the same week.
July 5, 201213 yr Rochelle says they're moving to LA right after her wedding: http://www.monstersandcritics.com/people/n...delay-honeymoon
July 6, 201212 yr Seems like the series has been picked up, as Rochelle says they are done filming the pilot, but they're still moving to LA after her wedding: http://www.maximumpop.co.uk/the-saturdays-new-album/
