October 3, 201113 yr WOOOOOO for Maroon 5 Is this the first ever update they've been number one? This is not a real chart update. Tomorrow will be the first time they've been #1 on one of the midweeks though, yes.
October 3, 201113 yr How is the Monday Chart created? The Monday Chart is based on an average of positions from 4 major download sites, & average monday sales from the last 5 years plus a quotation of physical sales. It does not claim to be "Official", though may be close & does include every single download song, without giving a "false" impression by not including tracks i.e. Coldplay is not included by the Official Charts Company, although it has actually sold some 45,000 copies in 3 weeks. It's not pure guesswork, as this non chalant below says because it does actually entail a lot of adding up, & besides we do have some 40 years of working in the record business & market research in & around the music industry. Trouble is some take the word "Official" as it says. If a chart is so "Official" then every song downloaded & paid for, would be included in the chart. Obviously it can't be so "Official", because it doesn't include every paid for download rendering the whole thing a farce. Try asking Radio One, why Coldplay are not in the "Official" chart...they can't answer it. I know, i've even done it. Edited October 5, 201113 yr by davetaylor
October 4, 201113 yr How is the Monday Chart created? Guesswork. Usually pretty good guesswork, but guesswork nonetheless.
