Molly went DTG once before and crashed and burned once there. I'm wondering if Sweden will let the same thing happen again, but I can't tell how much stronger this song is than Så vill Stjärnorna. Whereas Andreas went DTG with We Can Work It Out, and it's quite obvious from the clip that Love Light is far better than that. With that in mind he should technically ease to Globen but then this is a far stronger heat than the one that We Can't Work It Out made it out of.

Just for clarification, if Andreas wins this heat, will Lovelight be the song he performs in the Eurovision final, or does he have to write/perform another song in the Melodi final?

If he wins the heat *shudders/vomits violently* he will be through to the final in Stockholm in three weeks time. The winner of the Melodifestivalen final will represent Sweden at Eurovision.

 

The song he will be 'singing' tomorrow night will be the one he'd take to Eurovision in the event of Sweden having mass hearing failure and letting him represent them.

Seeing how very wrong you were with your predictions last week, I would say YB are going DTG. :D

I did say I was more inclined to switch the two now! Having found out what the stage gimmick is for Youngblood I now think DTG is almost certain for them along with Andreas, with Molly (sadly) in AC. The final AC spot is still a toss-up between Mattias and Björn & Sara I reckon.

 

And I wasn't actually THAT wrong with my predictions last week! After all the performances I predicted Ulrik and David DTG, with Timoteij and Sonja AC, Top Cats 5th and Thomas Di Leva 6th. Bosh Sonja down two and shift Top Cats and Di Leva up one and I got the result bang on - it wasn't exactly a 'Simon Forsberg DTG' moment!

'Miroken' is shockingly good. Youngblood should really have saved 'Blame It On You' for this, much stronger song. Molly could easily go DTG, it's a very popular sound done very well, but it's also a strong heat, so as long as she gets through somewhere... Everyone but Carolina and Maria - whose songs are average at best in any case - is in contention.

Youngblood - Youngblood / 08 / Right look I love this and I'm not ashamed [/danyl]. Some absolutely horrendous vox going on here (GOD knows why they let whiny gayface who does 'I'd drive a million miles...' in the group. Shit looks AND shit voice, the others at least seem to be good at one or the other). It's pure throwaway fluff and does the job fairly well, even if it is no Manboy (but then WHAT IS). / DTG or AC

 

Maria BenHajji - I mina drömmar / 06 / This is a bit like a chirpier Molitva at times, isn't it? (well, the 'när du se på mig' bits have a bit of a passing resemblance but that's it really, ignore me) It's a bit too basic bitch ballad to do the business. I don't know, maybe Portugal could've sent it but it's difficult to see anything for this other than an immediate flush if Sonja couldn't even get to the top five... / 8th-7th

 

Mattias Andréasson - Förlåt mig / 09 / This is really good, even though the production almost feels like it should be really dated - I could've sworn most of these production quirks were just 101 for whoever was producing 90% of mid-00s RnB. This really sounds like something Justin Timberlake would record as well for that matter...I can't at all call how this'll do. I'd rule this out of going DTG but he does probably have a fanbase left over from E.M.D., but equally I could also see this finishing 6th. AC probably... / AC / DTG-6th

 

Love Generation - Just A Little Bit / 08 / Fuck me this is WASTED on these losers :D I Kissed A Girl lezzes off with Poison in an unwashed toilet (with a sore throat). This'd probably be a rubbishgai anthem in the hands of Nicola Scherzinger but ALAS. AC's too much to hope for, isn't it? / 5th-6th

 

Andreas Johnson - Lovelight / 04 / God, it's a struggle to just get past the intro! It's no Sing For Me/Little Bit of Love. Better then We Can Work It Out at least, but I don't think this is the track he'll win Melodifestivalen with. Better luck next time... / DTG

 

Carolina Wallin Pérez - Sanningen / 07 / God I wish this was in the hands of Magnus Carlsson, he might have actually spiced it up a little. The chorus is really nice though, but GOD the verses are Xanax hell. It all sounds a bit like how I'd imagine Portishead - The Rip would be if someone was forced to jazz it up for Eurovision. 7th is the best hope for this surely? / 7th-8th

 

Molly Sandén - Why Am I Crying? / 09 / Post-Saade split this has got to be sailing through to the next stage in some form at least? I could really see Kelly Clarkson recording this. Here's hoping she BRINGS THE VOX, this might trouble the top half of the scoreboard at Globen if she pulls it off / DTG

 

Björn Ranelid & Sara Li / 08 / UGH, lobster face's spoken word poetry's actually not BAD on the studio version. He still utterly ruins this. Someone chop him out and layer some other basic bitch over the verses please. Like Mattias this is another one that could finish anywhere, but I'll call 6th place for this one. / 6th / DTG-6th

Youngblood - Youngblood - This is decent pop, but not quite as great as I usually expect from Kempe. Still, it's going DTG no doubt about it. 8/10

 

Maria BenHajji - I mina drömmar - So boring, can't remember a thing about it after the first listen. Surely 8th place? 5/10

 

Mattias Andréasson - Förlåt mig - Rather liking this and wouldn't mind it progressing at all. Maybe it will, I could see it possibly sneaking into AC. 8.5/10

 

Love Generation - Just A Little Bit - It's RedOne - it's better than Get You, it's not as good as anything he saves for the a-listers. But it's decent pop which I can see growing. 5th or 6th is surely its fate though. 8/10

 

Andreas Johnson - Lovelight - Fantastic! So anthemic (in a Suede - Beautiful Ones/Robbie's Strong lovechild sort of way) and this is the side of Andreas that I love, this is the best song he's done in 5 years and deserves to go DTG imo. 9/10

 

Carolina Wallin Pérez - Sanningen - As boring as Maria's song on first listen. 7th place is a charm, it's only beating her because it's on later. 5/10

 

Molly Sandén - Why Am I Crying? Also anthemic, nice to hear her with an English ballad in MF and I can definitely hear the Kelly Clarkson comparisons, although her whole career has some parallels to Kelly's. Wouldn't want to see it crash out straight away and I'm sure it won't. 8.5/10

 

Björn Ranelid & Sara Li - Amazing. The melody, generic but amazing production and ex Caracola member are all fantastic, and Bjorn just ramps it all up to being hilariously, horribly fantastic! 9/10
