Sorry for being such a git. But you get my point?

You have no point. Whether you like it or not surely you can objectively see Bad Romance is likely to be remembered as a 'classic'.

I do have a point. It's just words. You can say that about any song. For people who live in the US, Black and Yellow probably will become a classic. It has had fantastic critical acclaim, and is an anthem. Not to mention it will be remember because of its association with the Superbowl that year. So I'm saying it will become a classic, just like you're saying Bad Romance will be. And for your second sentance, if you read my posts properly, you'd have read that I said:

 If people like you keep going around saying things like that, you'll just make even more people hate the song!

I hate Bad Romance, and I'm not pretending to hate it, and it's got nothing to do with my sexuality, I just find it boring! And how can it be a classic, when it was released one year ago? Sorry, just my opinion.

That said, I think it probably will become a "classic" eventually though, because her fans talk about it all the time, non-stop, and she has a lot of fans, so people won't be able to forget it.

Also, I wouldn't say she's suffering a backlash. It seems like a backlash compared to how much everybody loved her in 2009, but really now she's still the most loved pop star in the world easily.

But it's not only going to be remembered as a classic by her fans because it has much broader appeal than that. You can say any song will become a classic, it doesn't mean you have a point. 'Bad Romance' is, from a completely objective point of view, far more likely to go down as a classic than 'Black And Yellow'.

Wow. You still don't get it. I DO have a point. I wouldn't have said it if I didn't have a point.

Well, Bad Romance will be played more on the radio in years to come, has a broader appeal (appeals more to older people, who probably won't be able to stand Black and Yellow, let's be honest here ), and Lady Gaga has such a huge fanbase that they'll make sure nobody ever forgets it.

But you also have to be objective and realize that this is a discussion where a dozen people who love pop music and Lady Gaga are posting. Go on Google, type in "hip hop forum", and then say on one of those forums that Bad Romance is more likely to be a classic than Black and Yellow, and you'll probably get laughed at, and told to be objective.

But I do agree with you.

That says more about the people on the hip hop forum than the song. I'd still say BR is far more likely to be a classic if BuzzJack was a hip hop forum.

Black & Yellow is more than likely going to be a classic, perhaps not to the extent that Bad Romance will, but due to its hip-hop/pop crossover appeal, it'll stick around for a while. I still hear it at parties and I'm sure it's going to continue to be a football anthem. It may not be as huge as Bad Romance always will be but it'll stick around in its own way. Sports songs aren't less of classics just because they're remembered as sports songs - Kerncraft 400 is just as much of a classic as Hey Ya!

Well, I was agreeing with a lot of the rock ones, so I thought I'd try and think of ones from other genres. :P

More serious dance: William Orbit's Barber's Adagio For Strings? And Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee)? Particularly the latter has a lot of scope to be hated, but I've never ever seen anyone say a bad word about it.

DIABOLICALLY AWFUL. One of my top 5 least favourite songs ever!

Wuthering Heights

YES. If only because if anybody DOES dislike this, they shall face my wrath. INCREDIBLE.

You're right, but firstly, the same applies to this forum, and secondly, most of the people posting on here wouldn't post here if it was a hip hop forum! It would just be a load of people like me.

I don't think it does to be honest. While BJ's memberbase are mostly pop fans, it's at its heart a chart forum, not a pop forum. And besides, I don't think BuzzJackians would be hesitant to accept a hip hop song as a classic if it becomes one - for example, I don't think anyone here would doubt the classic status of Gangsta's Paradise or the likely future classic status of Love The Way You Lie, whereas people on a hip hop forum may not accept some cheesy pop songs (like Steps' version of Tragedy) as classics when they clearly are.

"BuzzJackians".

On a hip hop forum, they wouldn't accept Tragedy as a classic, because most of them would live in the US, so probably wouldn't know the Steps version. :P

Although, come to think of it, that might be why some of you might think I'm weird saying this about Black and Yellow. Living in the UK, you might not really know the cultural impact the song has had in the US. MANIAC lives in the US, so I think he knows what I mean.

This is a chart forum, but the music tastes on here clearly do not represent the music tastes of the general public. Party Rock Anthem is one of the most loved songs of the year, but it's hated on here, for example.

ALSO:

According to Youtube, Black and Yellow is more universally "liked" than Bad Romance!! (take this with a pinch of salt, obviously ).

But music taste is irrelevant when saying what will or will not become a 'classic' - if you say a song will not be a classic purely because you don't like it/its genre (or indeed vice versa) then you're extremely close-minded.

Fair point about the USA, I hadn't really considered that - but in the UK I think it's likely to be forgotten fairly quickly (if it hasn't already been).

Knew there'd be one. Liam! :(

Eyes, feeling very blue.

People on here do the same though. Remember what happened that time I said My Humps was a classic?

I haven't heard Black and Yellow on the radio in over 2 months I think. Not even on urban radio. :( So it might already be forgotten. But I might do like Lady Gaga fans and just mention it as much as I can.

Some songs I don't really like a huge amount, I think have good potential to become classics aswell (even without the crazy fanbase help). California Gurls and Someone Like You, for example. but even those, I'm not fully sure about yet, but I'd be willing to place bets on them.

I was dreading the eventual 'Bad Romance' discussion. It's been done to death on here now.

Back on topic, does anyone actively dislike "Everlong" by Foo Fighters? Or "Times Like These" for that matter. Or "Best Of You". On a rock forum, all three of those would be described as classics whereas on multi-genre forum only "Everlong" is likely to be described as such.

I never liked 'Best Of You' at all, and it immensely annoyed me that it overshadowed the infinitely superior 'DOA'. The other two mentioned are of course great though.

Maybe something like 'Monkey Wrench' or 'Learn To Fly' are more worthy of being mentioned for being universally liked/a classic.

This.

I wouldn't describe any of Foo Fighters' songs as universally liked, surely Dave's voice is far too marmite for that?

My favourite FF song remains 'The Pretender' and I doubt they'll ever beat that.

You're the one who started it!

No, it started because someone said that all the people that didn't like Bad Romance were old men who were pretending not to like it because they were uncomfortable with their sexuality!

I mean, COME ON!

But yeah, we've cleared it up that that's NOT the case, so let's move on now. I'm fed up of people takling about that song in every thread.

Me neither. Well, I don't hate them, I guess I'm quite opinionless on most of their songs really. Maybe they're "universally not hated".
