Not only does Moves Like Jagger have the longest Number 2 run of the 21st century to date - this week it will incredibly be becoming the first record this century to sell more than 50,000 copies for nine consecutive weeks. At this moment it holds the eight week record jointly with Someone Like You and Whole Again.

I would be interested to know when the last run of nine or more weeks above 50K was (presumably late nineties), and if anyone has any idea what the all time record is.

I would guess Bryan Adams and/or Wet Wet Wet would be the best candidates, given their incredible runs at #1.

Love the way you lie did 7 weeks and I think just the way you are may have done 7 as well if not 6
Candle In The Wind perhaps? Or maybe Believe, Never Ever or Heartbeat/Tragedy?

Since you didn't mention singles specifically, I should point out that Adele's '21' had 17 straight weeks over 50k (+1 more later)!

FYI, no other album this year has managed more than 2.

You don't have to back quite as far as Wet, wet, wet, Steps "Tragedy/ Heartbeat" did 12 weeks in excess of 50K in 98/99
Last year in one of those articles they mentioned that Love the Way You Lie had broken one of these consistency records. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was for most consecutive weeks over a certain amount of sales. I imagine Moves Like Jagger has probably broken that now, whatever it was.
I think had Love The Way You Lie been released at a different time it could have had 50,000+ sales everyweek as it started charting when sales were quite week.

I think sales were quite good when it was out, to be fair. Like it was in that top 7 where all the songs sold over 50,000.

But Love the Way You Lie holds the record for the most weeks selling over 300,000 in the US, at 6 weeks.
