Ooh, LH video is out? This has been a big few days for video releases. Rihanna, Coldplay, Justin Bieber and now Ed Sheeran.

Feck, I missed 8pm for the top 100 update again. I must not get back into this habit.

I'm loving Lego House at the moment - video's good too - Ed gets it easy in all his video's though - someone else does the majority of all the videos :D

Hopefully will help it to rise to top 20!

Not that it's important, but Rihanna has FINALLY climbed to #1 on US iTunes.

I think the new Ed Sheeran song could get top 10 in the end.

I assumed Ed's video was already out to be honest, it did incredibly well to make the top 30 before the video release IMO. Hopefully it can be another BIG hit for him after YNM,IDNY underperformed.

I don't think it's been ignored. If anything I feel people on here have done nothing but orgasm over that song for the past few months. :drama:

That said, I don't think I've heard it yet. Maybe it actually is really good.

Not at all. Just look at the Sunday Predictions thread. I'm on Lana Watch all week to see if it can debut inside the top 10 this Sunday. I've been loving this song (and it's rare I discover songs I "love") for over two months now. Was delighted when I found out it was getting released, then seeing Radio 1 A-list the track gave me the hope it'd be a hit to some extent.

It's sadly dropped 06-08 in the last 24 hours - suspect 'Jar Of Hearts' and 'Sexy And I Know It' are the tracks that have overtaken. Just hoping its pre-orders and continued sales of the EP can keep 'Video Games' top 10 officially.

Thursday: New Releases: Top 300-1000 (singles & album tracks):

310. Letters - Matt Cardle :re:

318. AKA... What a Life! - Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds :re:

964. Whoops - The Overtones  310

966. Don Omar Ft. Lucenzo - Danza Kuduro (Piano Summer Remix 2011) - B3atzy :ne:

The pre-orders would all have been lumped on it the second it became available - so for at the very least a few seconds Lana was probably set for #1 with an enormous lead

Her EP has held on very well though - it's still at #5, with Noel at 1+3, Steps at 2 and Matt at 4.

Anyway, I believe this is the first Adele-less iTunes top 40 out of all the top 100 updates I've posted - there was a gap of about one and a half weeks where I stopped posting it but it's probably fair to assume SFTTR was in the top 40 for all of those missing updates. We shall find out in a few days if it's the first Adele-less official top 40 in over a year :o I think SFTTR will hold on by the skin of its teeth though.

Given their reputation, some of Noel's album tracks have underperformed dramatically. "Stop the Clocks" is supposed to be THE lost Oasis track, and "If I Had A Gun" was the US single which has been really well-received.
Maybe people just aren't interested in a Noel solo (ish) version of a lost Oasis track :P

When that sort of things happens with other artists, it does result with a lot of cherry-picking, but I think in this case most of the people who care are buying the entire album.

I think Eric's argument is more likely, kind of apparent with the 90,000-odd people who've invested in it so far that people would rather just buy the whole album.

I've noticed that long-established artists with more dedicated fanbases, usually suffer less from cherry-picking. Kylie is another one.

I was just looking back at the June 08 iTunes thread to see what happened with Viva La Vida after the album release and it seems the NCQ version was deleted and a new album version was added - I wonder if this is what will happen with Paradise? I don't see why it would since the version of Paradise charting IS the album version, but still.

The amount of hatred for Coldplay in that thread is unbelievable. Three years on there aren't many people on the site who dislike VLV and I haven't seen many people saying bad things about ETIAW/Paradise!

There's still quite a few people who dislike Fix You though.

Unrelated: looks like Rihanna's video hasn't really had that big an effect, Charlene is gaining back again already (back up to 78.6%). Is the video not getting played on UK TV yet?

Interesting. I wasn't here at the time, but Viva La Vida was SO overplayed. Honestly, I was tearing my hair out. And a lot of the general public were doing that thing and they hype up a song and say it's a future classic before it was even released which is VERY annoying. And I even remember at the time it got to #1 in the US, and then you'd turn on the radio and here people going "Coldplay? #1 on Billboard. Proper music at #1!?! Can it be? :o" which was also VERY frustrating.

So I could understand people being a bit annoyed with that I guess. Coldplay fans aren't being so OTT this time around, so it's not annoying for people that don't like the songs this time.

Yes, Kylie's last album didn't get cherry-picked much iirc. I remember Get Outta My Way was the highest.

Ed Sheeran is zooming up the chart! :o

Wanted are starting to majorly drop...

01. Rihanna - We Found Love 100%

02. Harlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go 76.6%

03. Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger 56.7%

04. The Wanted - Lightning 56%

05. Gym Class Heroes - Stereo Hearts 50.5%

I can see The Wanted dropping to around #09 next week as Stereo Hearts, Kelly Clarkson, Tinie/Labrinth & Professor Green should overtake it come Sunday.
