After a year of ups (including our highest peak position and highest points total) and downs (our first DNQ AND our second. CONSECUTIVELY) Altyr Muunilinst is seeing out this Buzzjack Song Contest year with a return to our electro-indie-pop roots proper. Vestige is a glorious example of the sub-sub-genre-sub-genre-sub and packed full of emotion and most importantly female voxed. Hopes are high that the entry will keep us top 10 for the year, a position we've held for the last 3 months.

Late last night Chancellor Baranski pushed the big red button (no, not the blow up some bitches one) and illuminated Darpabrak's Christmas Light Spectacular. Estimated crowds of 800,000 showed up outside Capital Hall to witness the event and over 93% of the population watched the event across the blanket network coverage. The next 4 weeks across the capital city will see various Christmas themed events, attendance is compulsory under pain of death.

BJSCLII will mark the 20th contest in which Altyr Muunlinst/FYR-Vojvodina-on-the-Wold have taken part and to celebrate this landmark Chancellor Baranski has officially unveiled plans to release a compilation album comprising THE BEST OF ALTYR - the 16 track album will cover the HIGHS and avoid the LOWS and will be available from March 11th in all good record stores and from select digital outlets.

 

In addition to the album and in support of the wider musical landscape within Altyr a concert comprising many of Altyr's best will also be held on March 22nd in Darpabrak Stadium, tickets for the free event will be made available by lottery and with only 88,000 available there's sure to be hundreds of thousands of disappointed fans. However they will be able to join one of 10 live telecasts from all major cities within Altyr and celebrate accordingly.

 

Confirmed acts include:

Florrie, Queen Of Hearts, The Storm, Sky Ferreira, Monarchy, PNAU, Miriam Bryant, Charlotte Perrelli and Nicole Scherzinger, the beloved former Queen of our great nation. More to be announced prior to March 22nd.

Naturally this will be released in Ashtonise music stores as part of our trade deals.

Viceroy to represent Altyr in Historic 20th Contest

For Altyr's HISTORIC 20th edition of the Buzzjack Song Contest the AMSC has decided upon the gorgeous 'Dream of Bombay' by Viceroy featuring the vocal talent of Australian Chela. The song was selected, not least because it was the best in the line up, but also because in this historic month the committee wanted to take a moment to pause and look back at the last 19 contests and the days of Vojvodina and felt that Dream Of Bombay perfectly encapsulates the sound of both Vojvodina and Altyr and pays tribute to our time in the contest as well as paving the way for a very successful future.

The Majestee of Altyr

Returning to Scandinavia for the 3rd time this year and Sweden for the 2nd Majestee of Sweden are this month representing Altyr Muunilinst in the 54th edition of the Buzzjack Song Contest. This is their debut single, but is already blazing a trail to the upper echelons of the national chart and at a recent concert in the capital they played to a sold out audience and garnered rave reviews.

 

In the wake of last months 6th top 10 finish for the nation expectations are high for the group.

 

Majestee make it to 17th Place

Following in the footsteps of previous Altyr entrants Queen Of Hearts and Patrizia, Majestee Of Sweden brought home a 17th place finish this month. Considerably down on last months 6th place the contest was much more competitive this month and the AMSC are deeply pleased with the result after poor International chart performance by the song.

 

The AMSC are currently in talks with four acts as potential representatives for Altyr at next months 55th contest, and are, as always, seeking the views of any willing International Juries to weigh in on their decision. [pmplz]

Returning to the UK for the first time this year (and in some kind of weird synergy our third consecutive British entrant for the June edition of the contest), Altyr have extended an invitation to musical 'collective' MDNGHT to represent us this month.

 

Following in the grand tradition of Altyr entrants, the track is synth heavy track and with featured guest vocalist Lana has an instantly massive hook. Expectations are very high this month following the songs #1 debut on the national chart with the highest weekly tally of any song this year.

 

SYNERGY

 

Preparations are well underway for the National Holiday this coming Saturday (June 22nd) to celebrate the official birthday of our great ruler Supreme Chancellor Baranski, who is a SNIP at 23 years old. It also happens to be the nations 23rd contest and after festivities to mark the 20th contest were put on hold due to a bomb threats this double occasion is to be attended by the best and the brightest of Altyr.

 

The 6 hour extravaganza will feature over 30 live acts, from the fields of comedy, music and acting. The event is available free to all citizens of Altyr and a special 5000 tickets have been allocated to members of friendly nations that they may also revel in this joyous spectacle. For those unable to attend, the entire event will be televised across all 4 national broadcasters, at the Chancellor's behest.

 

In further celebration the Chancellor will be unveiling a new statue of herself to the people of Altyr at the close of the concert. The secret project has been funded solely by the generous donations of the citizens of Altyr and has been hewn from gold and is engraved with the finest gems known to mankind.

Ashtonise state owned, and BJSC, broadcaster 'Santi Natio Áskorza' (SNÁ) will be broadcasting the festivities live on SNÁ|1HD and SNÁ|1-3D as part of a bumper weekend of celebrations ahead of the annual Ashtonise national holiday for the Emperor's birthday on the 24th of June.

Queen Jonna of Elëdan is celebrating her birthday in 6 days so it (and whatever Ashton have in store for their Emperor's birthday) is also to be broadcast live in Elëdan.

Following on from solid predictions to qualify for the final MDNGHT have done just that and brought Altyr their 20th qualification in 23 contests. In local news, the song has just cemented itself at the #1 spot in the national chart for a 3rd consecutive week, with increased sales week on week. It now ranks among the 20 biggest selling singles over the year after only a few weeks on sale.

Despite the sole predicted DNQ from noted hater and fool Pavel Kat Graham has progressed to the final, giving Altyr their fourth consecutive qualification in the contest. Expectations for the track are high as it's currently storming iTunes here in Altyr as the heatwave continues into it's 3rd week.

 

 

And in the current spin off BJFestivalen, Altyr have also advanced to the final with the sub 3 minute GEM that is Lolita by Leah Labelle. The odds are predicting a top 5 finish, but hopes are high that Lolita can make it just that little bit higher.
