Posted October 25, 201113 yr I would have put this in the dance forum but I think more people here would appreciate it. ZCi1CurRAVg unexpectedly great Edited February 2, 201213 yr by tonyttt31
February 2, 201213 yr Author E9USCcjfNm8 New track called Straight Sun. It's good. Could be a grower.
February 3, 201213 yr Yeah, great track. Orbital are much more than dance. True.. Pioneers of Electronica is probably a pretty apt description... ;) And the tunes are pretty cool.. Good to have the Hartnoll boys back... And, NOT actually doing a film soundtrack album like so many of their early 90s peers (eg Trent Reznor, Daft Punk or Chemical Brothers) seem to be getting into these days... Although "Never" would've been quite a nice fit on the "Drive" soundtrack...
February 3, 201213 yr Some details about Wonky: http://cdn.stereogum.com/files/2012/02/Orbital-Wonky-608x608.jpg Track listing: 01. One Big Moment 02. Straight Sun 03. Never 04. New France (ft. Zola Jesus) 05. Distractions 06. Stringy Acid 07. Beeledub 08. Wonky (ft. Lady Leshurr) 09. Where Is it Going?
February 3, 201213 yr And, NOT actually doing a film soundtrack album like so many of their early 90s peers (eg Trent Reznor, Daft Punk or Chemical Brothers) seem to be getting into these days... The Chemical Brothers did the excellent soundtrack for Hanna film in 2011, but they still release studio albums (the last one was "Further" in 2010). Underworld also released the studio album "Barking" in 2010 and the soundtrack for Fankenstein play in 2011. On a side note, Underworld are set to take part in the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games (they also will direct the music in the Olympic opening ceremony with Danny "Trainspotting" Boyle). I wonder why Daft Punk need so much time to make an album. The last album, "Human After All", was released in 2005 and it wasn't on par with the previous work. Edited February 3, 201213 yr by alin

Oh I wasn't meaning to imply that it was a bad thing, quite the contrary, just a bit strange that so many of them seem to be doing it now. I can remember what some reviewers said at the time about the sort of music they were doing, basically they described it as "soundtracks for films that haven't been made"... Just seems quite poignant that now some of them are doing soundtracks... ;)

February 3, 201213 yr Orbital just announced that the first single is "New France" (ft. Zola Jesus). Listen here.
April 9, 201213 yr This album is astounding. It sounds like a gleeful mix of Aphex Twin - Drukqs, Autechre, and Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah. Well IMO. "Wonky" is seriously a contender for song of the year so far. Q9675nvyses&ob=av3e
April 10, 201213 yr I'm still waiting delivery of 'Wonky'... but, like I've mentioned on another thread - surely one of THE most beautiful album covers I've ever seen..... stunning.
April 11, 201213 yr Author I've had it for a week now. It hasn't really clicked with me. I hope tt's a grower. I haven't become obsessed with it like I did with Insides - which slowly rose and rose and is now my 5th favourite album of all time. By the initial sounds it is probably going to be my second fave taking the place of The Middle of Nowhere. Edited April 11, 201213 yr by tonyttt31

They did a soundtrack in 2003 - didn't they?
April 11, 201213 yr Album is great and I saw them live in Glasgow on Saturday. They've lost none of their brilliance there. The single's one of my least favourite tracks, but I don't care for Zola Jesus particularly.
April 13, 201213 yr This album is good, but it's also meant that I've listened to "Chime" for the first time ever. Amazing. Not quite as shocking as when I found out that Kraftwerk's Autobahn was composed in 1974, but it's early nonetheless. And they're still making music today!

Not quite as shocking as when I found out that Kraftwerk's Autobahn was composed in 1974, but it's early nonetheless. And they're still making music today! These days is quite hard to come with something completely new in electronic and rock music.
April 28, 201213 yr Just in case anyone is interested, this is currently under £4 on Amazon at the moment...
