January 17, 201213 yr Definitely the highest overall quality Melodi Grand Prix since 2009 imo, although I doubt that there'll be such a runaway winner (or indeed that it will produce a Eurovision winner!). Loving the majority of the songs after three or four listens each! My ultimate standouts thus far and the ones I keep returning to are High On Love, With Love, Somewhere Beautiful, I've Got You, Make It Better, Ola Nordmann, You & I, Stay (watered down Scheiße ) and Sailors, although Semi 3 will be far weaker than the other two. Who needs big names to produce great songs!?!
January 17, 201213 yr Apart from the actual word "Hello," no. It's not even a sample, it's just a word that happens to be sung using the same two notes as another song. By an identical voice to the other song.

Who needs big names to produce great songs!?! You like Ola Nordmann? The group won 'hit of the year' at the Norwegian Grammy :P with this song.. Møkkamann 7vRTM_l-qb0 Unfortunately, one of the member of 'Plumbo', vocalist Lars Erik Blokkhus tried to be funny when they were reciving the award from Madcon.. and called them 'Mokkamenn' which means 'Mocha men' http://fluentfilm.com/share/mokkamann.gif clip  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VCd8rmN4Os Madcon later said to VG (biggest newspaper in Norway) That he was a f***ing c**t :P and on the afterparty, Kaizers Orchestra guitarist Terje Winterstø Røthing poured beer over Lars Erik Blokkhus while he was apologizing to VG's Web-TV, and that looked just like this... http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxuu5f5AeN1qcfgpp.gif I don't know what was the most embarresing thing  So much drama at Norwegian Grammy
January 18, 201213 yr I heard about all of that, but it still doesn't put me off liking the song, I love anything folky, like Te Stein from 2009
January 20, 201213 yr Plumbo are CRUSHING everyone else on iTunes (they are 8th and the nearest competition is #130  ). Hence this: http://s001.radikal.ru/i193/1201/a1/c5edc73c9367.jpg Edited January 20, 201213 yr by Ljósið
January 20, 201213 yr No bad thing, I do love a bit of Ola Nordmann! Plumbo were always going to be out front on iTunes though because they're currently #1 with another (award winning) song which has had a lot of recent publicity - remember that all of these songs are so far unheard to the Norwegian public so selling on name alone right now, and few of these acts are household names  Why is Rikke Normann so high, it's just generic average pop!?! Surprised Sammen is that low with the bookies, I thought the 'message' would have it higher...
January 20, 201213 yr Ola Nordmann is tremendous! I'm slightly upset we'll never get to see how Sailors would've done at the ESC (I can't think of anything like it that's gone to the ESC in a long time, or indeed call how it would do) but I could more than get on board with Plumbo.

Can you IMAGINE? :w00t:
January 21, 201213 yr So I missed the first four songs here, wish I finished an hour earlier on Saturdays :/ At least I didn't miss With Love!
January 21, 201213 yr Nora is SMASHING Somewhere Beautiful, it's another The Secret Is Love moment, I know there aren't as many hard to reach vocals in this song but it's a stunning vocal nonetheless, she looks like a young Agnes. Definitely by far my favourite in this semi, it must qualify!
January 21, 201213 yr Somewhere Beautiful and High On Love through to the final! High On Love was an amazing performance watching it again, she has 'new schlager icon' written all over her, she's all woman for sure, Norway's own Sarah Dawn Finer! As for Somewhere Beautiful ->   And Don't Touch The Shit through too but no surprise there. In fact there's nothing surprising about that top three at all, another predictable Scandinavian result this evening.
January 21, 201213 yr Hmm.. I can't believen I'm not active in this thread. I am one of few norwegians on Buzzjack and I'm after all very interested and engaged in MGP. I should start saying things in here :D And I can start by saying that I'm glad "High on love" got through! :cheer: I think that was the best entry in this semi final, and what I think could do best if won (have only heard this semi final, though. I usually don't listen to the songs beforehand). Although I did like Irresistible the most. Incredibly catchy beats, especially! And I think they performed the song well. The Carburetors was obviously very predictable, but their fans have no perspective when it comes to eurovision. It's genre just have a big group of followers who probably hate all the other songs and most likely vote in protest or something *sigh* Either way, "High on love" was the most important song in this semi, and thank God "Så vidunderleg" didn't get through!
January 21, 201213 yr Quite a bit of US influence in MGP this year - I agree with Ghosty that it's FAR better than last year. I can still see all of the wrong songs going through to the final though, Norway have a horrible habit of making this happen :( I think overall MGP has great musical diversity, which I think is a very good, interesting and healthy thing! I agree with you on that last bit, but aren't you pleased, looking at tonight's results? :D
January 22, 201213 yr Finally caught up with everything :drama: My standouts for now are You & I, High On Love, Somewhere Beautiful, Stay, Shapeshifter, Euphoria and Sailors, I'm very glad both HOL and SB made it through the first semi
January 22, 201213 yr I think overall MGP has great musical diversity, which I think is a very good, interesting and healthy thing! I agree with you on that last bit, but aren't you pleased, looking at tonight's results? :D Extremely pleased with two of them, less so the worst song in the semi going through. The sad thing is that it's plainly obvious that neither Nora or Reidun have a hope in hell of winning overall :(
January 22, 201213 yr Having just watched the performances again, Reidun is really going to have to put in a better vocal performance in the final. Some real dodgy moments last night. :( Edited January 22, 201213 yr by Peter30
