November 2, 201114 yr JLS, Adele, Chase & Status, Olly Murs, The Collective and The Saturdays moving up :dancing: Amy Winehouse still recording new music even after her death! She's pretty committed :kink: But seriously, I wonder if this song will actually be a hit? MJ's 'Hold My Hand' only barely went top 10, this could do the same or worse since there was far less (although still significant) hype over her death. Good to see Radio 1 supporting it though. I guess the fact they're releasing it a few months after she died while HMH was like one and a half years after MJ's death may make some difference too. Midnight Run on the C-List :cheer: It's flopping on iTunes so far though, even though it has a video already :( I haven't heard 'Why I Love You' yet but it sounds amaze. Also haven't heard the newies from Gaga and Emeli, need to hear those. Not bothered about the other new additions. Surprised they're supporting that Lloyd song.
November 2, 201114 yr "Bite My Tongue" :cheer: You Me At Six always get added, but I didn't actually realise it was the next single. Makes the grand total of good songs Oli Sykes has made... two (the other being BMTH's "Blessed With A Curse".
November 2, 201114 yr BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and so on at Lana being booted off. There's still life in Video Games! Yay at: Florence, Birdy, Adele, Kelly and The Saturdays all staying A-list or moving up.
November 2, 201114 yr I haven't heard 'Why I Love You' yet but it sounds amaze. Bit of a contradiction there! :P:kink: I'm very pleased to see it playlisted though, it's a very good song, and hopefully it'll get a hit out of the 'Watch the Throne' album (although even if this doesn't, 'Lift Off' is sure to in the coming months). Not pleased to see 'Countdown' taken off the playlist so soon though, hopefully it'll got at least top 30 here though - such a shame that it's underperformed so much! :( Edited November 2, 201114 yr by THEO.
November 2, 201114 yr Countdown was a bad single and I've always thought that. Out of the uptempo songs on the album End of Time is by far the strongest single. Countdown barely has a hook. I've listened to it a fair bit and right now all I can remember of it is the countdown and the bit about dinner time.

The "oh, killing me softly, and I'm still falling" is the hook. At least the song is different to what's out there - whilst I do love 'End of Time', from the producer alone, it's not the most original song in the world, plus that style evidently isn't popular with the record-buying public; as shown with 'Run the World (Girls)' and 'Beat of My Drum'.

Well sometimes being similar to what's out there isn't a bad idea! I also wouldn't really compare End of Time to Run The World or Beat of My Drum. End of Time has this wonderful soaring chorus while Run The World (though I like it) is just shouting and Beat of My Drum is basically screeching haha.
November 2, 201114 yr I love Countdown aswell. It's brilliant. Hopefully it can somehow keep climbing a bit. If it doesn't do much better than it is atm, it might make it more difficult for Love On Top (which I also LOVE) to be a hit. :( Happy for JLS, Jessie J, One Direction, Chase & Status, Chris Brown and Skream climbing. And happy for Emeli Sande, Jay-Z/Kanye, Lloyd, Example and J Cole getting added. The UK is getting a different single from the US from Watch the Throne. They announced they'd do that a while back (probably because of Mr. Hudson), but I'm wondering if they'll make a music video for it. I agree that End of Time isn't quite as extreme as Run the World and Beat of my Drum. End of Time isn't quite as shouty, and, I see the comparisons, because of the loud drums, but the rest of the instruments aren't that loud. Edited November 2, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob

It didn't peak particularly high but it spent a long time in the top 40. (Did 'Otis' even get R1 playlisted? I can't remember). Also, I wonder why 'Lift Off' hasn't been a single yet anyway? One would think it was the obvious choice but they've gone for 'Niggas In Paris' in the US and 'Why I Love You' here
November 2, 201114 yr Otis was A-listed for a while I think. Ah, I did think so, I just wasn't entirely sure.
November 2, 201114 yr Gutted to see Lana del Rey and Beyonce kicked off the playlist already - songs don't seem to spend very long on the R1 playlist nowadays (bar anything Gaga or Coldplay). Great to see The Throne and Example added to the playlist though - the latter deserves another hit from 'Playing in the Shadows' - although 'Natural Disaster' wasn't technically the third single, I tend to treat it so and a #37 peak was incredibly unjust. Likewise with The Throne, although 'Why I Love You So' isn't the type of song music-buyers at the moment are into - and none of the artists are big profile currently (especially Mr Hudson).

Why do you always refer to Jay-Z and Kanye as 'The Throne'?
November 2, 201114 yr Why do you always refer to Jay-Z and Kanye as 'The Throne'? A lot less to type than 'Jay-Z & Kanye West When embarking on tour together - they go under the name of 'The Throne' Although not the same as Bad Meets Evil, I see the collaboration as a 'project' and as such they deserve a title.
November 2, 201114 yr Why do you always refer to Jay-Z and Kanye as 'The Throne'? That's the official name for their collab! They're even named as such on last.fm I think.
