Posted November 6, 201113 yr Sold now as A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector. In my opinion this is the best Christmas album ever. Forget your Now Xmas, this is the one to own. Just brilliant. Started playing my CD today. First released on 22nd November 1963, the day of Kennedy's assassination. Sold poorly that first Christmas but the US wasn't really in celebratory mood.
November 12, 201113 yr Didn't Phil Spector murder someone once? That's what the courts said. He produced many classic songs but if he was given the Gary Glitter treatment you wouldn't hear them on the radio ever again.

I just brought it up because Chris has a history of posting threads about Gary Glitter in what appears to be a deliberate attempt at trolling.
November 12, 201113 yr Author I just brought it up because Chris has a history of posting threads about Gary Glitter in what appears to be a deliberate attempt at trolling. He was convicted of kiilling someone yes but that doesn't change how anyone should feel about this classic Christmas album. Tracks from it are still played on radio at Christmas. Radio 2 played some last year. Edited November 12, 201113 yr by Common Sense
November 20, 201113 yr I just brought it up because Chris has a history of posting threads about Gary Glitter in what appears to be a deliberate attempt at trolling. There have been a number of convicted criminals, or alledged criminals, in the pop world over the years. Sid Vicious may well have killed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, but that has not stopped Sex Pistols records being revered. Phil Spector may have killed someone, but people still hold his early production work in high esteem, and why shouldn't they? His later actions do not take away his early brillance at production work. If George Martin was right now convicted of murdering someone then should radio stations stop playing Beatles records? Of course not. Spector is being punished for what he has done, he is currently imprisoned, is he not? No need to punish the great recording artists who appeared on his records as well. In my humble opinion, of course.
December 14, 201113 yr No one in the Media should judge anyone & the list is endless. Spector is currently serving a prison sentence. James Brown was a convict, as was Ike Turner. You can add in R. Kelly & Jonathan King & Gary Glitter. But then if you going down that road, then Jerry Lee Lewis married a 13 year old. Suddenly a pattern emerges here. If you are British & was convicted, apparently you don't get airplay. Now, I wonder...What if a certain Mr Jackson had been found guilty? Either way, TV & Radio should not do the judging. Even the JK & GG still have fans, & then there are the hyped Newspaper stories & bugging, like we've found out in the last year. Should those two be omitted from re-runs of Top Of The Pops? Of course not, they are no worse than anyone else of the criminal variety. It appears they both have sexual problems, which in an ideal world, would be treated in a special hospital for cases of such. Another tale of failed Government funding for Hospitals today.

Sid Vicious may well have killed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, but that has not stopped Sex Pistols records being revered. But he didn't actually have anything to do with the records that are revered i.e. Bollocks and attendent singles.
December 25, 201113 yr It's a wonderful album. I listen to it a few times through every December without fail. And the fact quite a few tracks still get an annual airing on the radio every year almost 50 years on show the songs still stand the test of time.
