Posted November 7, 201114 yr Singles The top of the singles market is not anywhere near as close as albums but it is still too close to determine who will be number one this Sunday. In the lead presently are Epic act JLS’s brand new single Take A Chance On Me, but it is only about 5,000 sales ahead of Def Jam/Mercury’s former number one We Found Love by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris, which was also in second place on last Sunday’s chart. The Syco single Earthquake by Labrinth featuring Tinie Tempah also holds its position of three, while the Virgin single Read All About It by Professor Green featuring Emeli Sande is fourth having claimed a second week at number one last weekend. This time last week Syco’s Cher Lloyd featuring Mike Posner single With Ur Love led the midweeks, but had to settle for fourth place on the end-of-week chart. It is now in fifth position in the week so far, a place ahead of What Do You Take For Me, the newly-released single from Mercury’s Pixie Lott featuring Pusha T. Two Top 10 singles are enjoying notable week-on-week sales boosts with Asylum/Atlantic’s Ed Sheeran release Lego House up 46% to move it 7-6 and Positiva/Virgin’s track Without You by David Guetta featuring Usher rising 38%, although it stays in 10th place. A little lower down Island’s Florence + The Machine single Shake It Out sees its sales rise 267% on the week to move 26-12 after it was performed on The X Factor results show last Sunday, while there are new entries at 13 and 14 respectively from RCA’s Lock Essien and Mercury’s Maverick Sabre. Also new to the Top 40 on Sunday will be Elektra/Atlantic’s Bruno Mars with It Will Rain, the week-to-date’s 15th biggest seller. ===== Albums Florence + The Machine’s Ceremonials is leading one of the closest battles of the year to top the UK artist albums chart with new releases by Susan Boyle, The Wanted and Cher Lloyd all currently fewer than 4,000 sales behind. Having debuted at number one last Sunday, the Island-issued Ceremonials begins the new chart week in the lead again, boosted by an X Factor appearance. However, according to the Official Charts Company, it is only around 2,750 sales ahead of Someone To Watch Over Me, the newly-released second album from Syco’s Susan Boyle, while also close to both albums are new albums from The Wanted and Cher Lloyd. The Wanted’s second album, the Global Talent/Island-issued Battleground, is presently showing up as a new entry at number three, while Syco act Cher Lloyd’s first album Sticks & Stones crops up in fourth place. In its third week on sale Parlophone signings Coldplay slide 2-5 with Mylo Xyloto. Two other newly-issued albums occupy Top 10 positions at this stage of the week with the Decca-issued And The Waltz Goes On by Andre Rieu and the Johnann Strauss Orchestra seventh and 14th Floor/Atlantic act Birdy’s self-titled first album ninth. The latest batch of EMI’s Pink Floyd remasters are making their mark with 1975’s Wish You Were Here in 15th position and A Foot In The Door – The Best Of ranked 20th. Other acts on course to debut with new albums on this coming Sunday’s chart include BMG Rights’ Deaf Havana, Sigur Ros with their first live album Inni through independent Krunk, Dian Ross with a new UMTV best of, Rush with a Roadrunner-issued live album, an Island pairing of Theo Gilmore with the late Sandy Denny and celebrated film director David Lynch’s first music album via independent Sunday Best. November 8, 201114 yr OK... I think JLS will be #1 in the singles, with around 5,000 sales more than Rihanna at #2 (down to pre-orders and physicals) I think Cher Lloyd wil be around #7 in the album charts, with The Wanted at #1 or #2, however, I believe The Wanted will be largley front-loaded and drop quite quickly throughout the week

November 8, 201114 yr OK... I think JLS will be #1 in the singles, with around 5,000 sales more than Rihanna at #2 (down to pre-orders and physicals) JLS should be #1 initially, but unless they've sold a *lot* of CD's, they'll never hold it for the week!

November 8, 201114 yr I am surprised Florence is holding off the competition in the albums she looked like a death mask on X-factor. Cher seems to be destined to peak at 4 in both albums and singles. I thought Bruno would have a shot at No 1 and Rihanna is sure to regain the top spot by Thursday.

November 8, 201114 yr 5k ahead for JLS, they're now destined for #2, I can't see Rihanna not overcoming that gap by Sunday, given JLS are still 10% behind in iTunes and will fall further by the end of the week. I'm surprised how close it is near the top in the albums chart too. Florence will get the second week though, I guess. A bit of an ouch @ Coldplay. Chris Martin told that they're not sure if they're going to work on the next album, and their commercial success decline might force that. Edited November 8, 201114 yr by Arrs
