400 copies seperating One Direction and Rihanna - expected it to be a lot bigger, especially with the EP sales. Will no doubt correct itself by tomorrow - it's now a case of whether Flo Rida can debut at #2 ahead of them.

The Saturdays at #9 is quite a shock at this stage - it'll no doubt fall to #11 at the minimum in the next few days - making room for Maroon 5 and Charlene Soraia. I imagine Jessie J and Gaga will both climb too - whilst Westlife and The Collective will take significant tumbles (although the latter will bounce back after Friday).

Snow Patrol - JLS = 200 copies, wow. It's going to be close between these two then, hard to tell which will have already received the sales from the fanbase. Likewise for Pixie Lott, a #13 debut is pretty appalling considering the length of the album and the #1 and #10 single it contains.

B-sides downloads are counted separately and can chart in their own right.

Also some people say it is the cd sales when the b-side shows up, but that cant be true as say westlife wouldn't be as high as they are without cd sales, yet they also have a b-side showing up?

Yes they could! This is a known phenomena of artists who release a CD single that is very popular. The sales of the CD are 'double counted', so in fact they are not really at #15 (digital sales + physical sales X 2), the CD sales have been added twice by mistake; they will be quite a bit lower on tomorrows update when this is corrected.

That article is painful to read;

Bolded every grammatical error or incorrect fact that I saw, dear LORD get them a proof reader, it's like a child wrote it :drama:

Missed 1 its Pixie's second album not third

UK MIdweek Chart: Snow Patrol and One Direction set for number one spot

Former X Factor contestant One Direction meanwhile, look set to debut at number one at the weekend with their latest release, Gotta Be You. The track has sold less units than their debut What Makes You Beautiful, which has racked up the fastest selling first-week single of 2011, however it is still more than 400 units ahead of We Found Love by Rhianna feat. Calvin Harris which currently sits at number two.

A whole 400 copies?

They are so screwed!

To be honest the #1 album is between 3 acts at the moment, JLS and Michael Buble are performing on CIN Friday, Snow Patrol might just drop to #3. :(

Wow those sales are exciting. Like most people I think Rihanna will end up no1 on Sunday. Albums far from clear cut. Dont really mind who get the no1 album tbh. I've gone off JLS gradually since XF but they don't really offend me in any way. Buble may even get it!
So many big flops this week :o The Collective not top 30? What a huge embarrassment for Gary Barlow!

Pixie's album not top ten too! And R.E.M. at the foot of the top 20 - tragic!

I'm not exactly a fan of theirs but it's a shame to see Westlife's 12 year long top ten streak end on their last ever single...

I think the awful album cover of the R:E:M greatest hits could be one of the reasons it dosent do well. But to be honestm they haveen doing good in recent years. Their last studio album dident even selling gold in one single country.

Its a bit of the same with westlife, they bearly made the top 10 last year with safe but i also think that was a much stronger track than this. I Guess Gary saves the best tracks for TT.. We should also remember that westlife 25 track record of top 10 singles would probably ended a few years ago if the label havent stopped just realesing one single per album as with the 2 latest studio albums.

I hope this is the beginning of the end for Pixie Lott. I have never understood why she's so popular when she is the most generic posptar ever. Outside of Buzzjack, who can actually name all her no.1s? Her new material has been particularly dire too and her last album only sold so much after a rerelease and a billion singles. She's a mediocre singer.

Gutted Maroon 5 are 11 but I suppose 13 consecutive weeks top 10 isn't too bad-the longest consecutive run of the year.

Dont be too gutted, He will probably be top 10 again by sunday, The Sats will fall out by then. (sadly)

Oh God! One Direction only 400 copies ahead :(

I can't see Flo Rida higher than #3 on sunday.

Hmm, can actually see Bublé stealing #1 on Sunday. Yet another mistake from the MW report, it says Snow Patrol have never had an album début at #1. Slightly forgets "Eyes Open"...
Top 40 Only

Singles

1 One Direction (400 copies ahead)

2 Rihanna/Calvin Harris

I've not read through all the pages so this has probably been mentoned already but Rihanna is surely going to overtake One Direction by tomorrow's midweek sales update.

Flo Rida 'Good Feeling' is also worth watching out for. I wouldn't be surprised if it mirrors its current iTunes peak of #2 come this Sunday.

so looks like Rihanna will get number 1 again - unless OneD can keep a lead until Thursday and then benefit from a CIN boost, which looks unlikely with a gap like that, still good news, certainly not a song that deserves number 1

Fantastic to see Snow Patrol beating JLS though :D never would I have thought that would happen, JLS could well fall to 3 behind Buble on Sunday :o great to see Coldplay climbing in singles and albums too and Goo Goo Dolls back in the top 30 :D

and Ha @ The Collective not top 30  looks like it will be lucky to beat the peak of the original let alone get top 5!

There was me thinking prior to this week that both this and One Direction were a lock for the top 2 in either order. SO happy this is flopping, who even dares to cover Massive Attack like this?!

What The Hell Pixie, I expected her to easily go top 3 after the success of Turn It Up & All About Tonight!

Very strange. Just checking the Amazon charts she is #70 on their physical CD's. Shocked.

I can't help but notice that the first Westlife single looking likely to not to break the top 10 is also Barlow penned B-)

http://www.heart.co.uk/showbiz/artists/tak...y-barlow-track/

Does that sound familiar? Just like Matt Cardle, Westlife couldn't wait to ditch one of their own songs at the very last minute for a track penned by Lord Barlow.

Am I missing something here? Obviously he's penned some stonking songs for Take That but has he been credited as writing something for someone else that's a genuine hit? I've always heard he 'writes for other people' but which tracks for artists has he actually been credited for?

With The Collective, although not written by him but certainly associated with him, struggling this week, the disaster that was for Run For Your Life and now Lifehouse possibly breaking Westlife's streak, is there a curse of Gary Barlow?

Saying that though an original XF winner's single has got to be a good thing, That's My Goal sold really well, it's about time they had something original again, just got to hope there isn't a Gary curse :P

I wonder why Westlife have gone with a song written by a major competitor? Very odd - I know why Matt did - he was told to and had no choice by don't get Westlife at all.

I would love love love Snow Patrol to stay number 1 but sadly i dont think they will, Jls though in a way may be front loaded plus jls would have a large fanbase who would buy the album on the day of release, snow patrol wouldnt be as front loaded that way. I also wouldnt rule out buble especially that is promoting this week aswell.

Ideally id like them to finish like:

01 Snow Patrol

02 Michael Buble

03 Jls

Im not overly surprsied as Pixie Lotts album position, alll about tonight did go number 1 but it has dropped quiet quickly and her latest just scarpped the top 10, interest is waining a little but for her so the third single will be crucial enough for her.

In the singles chart i think One Direction will definitly lose out on the number 1 for sure and im shocked the collective are doing so poorly, on the other hand im glad westlifes run of top 10 hits will come to an end as there is a few times in the past they have been lucky to just scrape top 10 and plummet.

It was written by Gary Barlow and John Shanks 3 years ago according to Barlow's twitter. So that puts it in the era of Take That's Circus album. So it must have been a track that they wrote but didnt make the album and now John Shanks is writing for Westlife he must have asked Gary if Westlife could use it. So obviously it wasn't doing nothing sitting in a drawer somewhere. It is one of Westlife's best songs in ages. The fact is that their popularity is pretty poor in the UK so even if it was a great great song it wouldnt do well cos no one is interested in them. FACT
