Misha still performing second in a bottom 2 duel, judgies still not using the YOU CAN'T CONNECT WITH THE PUBLIC excuse on Misha (who has been in the bottom 2 for like a million times now) they used to boot Kitty out.

A NIGHT OF UTTER SURPRISES.

Misha may connect with the public over the long term. She may not have the Christmas number 1 and sell 200,000 of her debut album in week 1 but in the long run she could well be a better artist than the countless "puppets" that have come from this competition over the last few years.

I'm not sure I'd want to connect with a public that swallow whatever X Factor churns out to them every Christmas anyway.

I'm not saying she won't have a career, but the whole point of the X Factor is for the public to CHOOSE their winning artist. I do like Misha but after being for so many weeks in the bottom 2, I think the time has come for her to leave for good the competition.

If anything, I'd say the public will get more and more upset against her if she stays the "judges' favourite" who's rejected by the public but constantly saved by the judges. It's not good for her.

IMO Misha should have gone out last night - 3 times in the bottom 2.

Kelly made a mistake - She's should have sent Misha home with Gary taking it to deadlock.

I also thought that it went just on public vote for the final 5.

Janet hasn't been able to show all her talent - apart from singing she's an instrumentalist and a songwriter.

I think X Factor should let them play instruments as the can on American Idol.

Hope Misha goes next week.

Amelia Lily to win now with Little Mix runner-up.

I'm just hoping that Marcus doesn't win this now

The best thing would be for him to finish 2nd and I can see him having a career similar to Olly's

Am I the only one who finds something extremely boring and irritating about Marcus? *runs*

Marcus is not boring but Gary has turned him into a dull, not threatening, artist the older voters like. Marcus plays it so safe and I doubt he is like that in real life.

If Marcus wins he will have a career like Joe. Not sure why some commentators still go on about his appeal to women.

Every X Factor winner has never been in the bottom 2, so I guess it's really between Little Mix and Marcus now, isn't it? Amelia Lily has a small chance and Misha is a definite third or fourth place.
I'm sick of this Marcus will have a career like Joe, it's nonsense unless that's the road SyCo want to take him down. SyCo tried to turn Joe into a bloody Mika tribute act - they didn't realise that we hated the real Mika and we didn't need another one! I'm not saying he's going to be the next Justin Timberlake, but if they use the strategy they have for Once Direction & Cher Lloyd he'll be fine. He just needs to work with some big producers.
I really think they need to release a single for the winner in the summer and follow the JLS type release pattern as Rooney said. It just seems silly to hold back a below average song for the first live show when that boost barely did anything for Cardle and McElderry. A single in July followed by another in October and the album would be a FAR better option I think.

I think if he continues with this swing style though, he will end up on the x-factor dump with Leon, Joe and Matt. Marcus and Gary seem to think it's fresh and current because Bruno Mars did it one week, but that was one performance. You look at all his hit singles and none of them are in this style. Marcus' style only works for TV because it makes for a nice performance. But people voting for him aren't really people that buy chart singles and albums. Marcus needs to do something contemporary again, like Moves Like Jagger. That was a great performance and showed him as a popstar, not just the nice lad that mums and grannies are voting for.

Oh no I completely agree, that he needs to do contemporary again. It's why I put money on him to win the show right at the beginning of the series. He's got great marketability, but Gary's influence really could have a bad effect on his career. If you give him some great pop music and a good producer he can have a big hit record. It all depends on how he's marketed and what material he is given. I don't think One Direction would have been as successful as they have been without WMYB. Yes they have a huge fanbase, but WMYB is a fantastic pop song.

How is predicting Marcus will have a career like One Direction & Cher Lloyd any less nonsense than people predicting he'll have a career like Joe?

We can't predict the future.

If she was so 'cutting edge I WON'T BE REDUCED TO A SHITTY POP SINGER' then why she didn't she go the full hog and just sing Death Dawned Donkeys or whatever crap she listens to anyway to assert herself?
What an utterly SILLY girl. She thought she was single-handedly going to turn the X Factor into the British equivalent of Woodstock?

We can't predict the future.

Because he clearly isn't as obviously marketable as One Direction/Cher Lloyd were? Also it's a judgement off the back of the sorts of performances that he's been doing. Cher and One Direction had a consistent theme that had an obvious sector within the single-buying public. Moves Like Jagger et al aside, can you really see the genres represented in Marcus's performances in the last few weeks really being that commercially successful?

We can quite easily predict the future. Whether we're right or not is a different matter but off the back of what we've seen we can confidently assert certain things.

^Yeah exactly. Most people with a level head could have told you Joe was not going to have a career. He was suited to thearte, he wasn't your traditional popstar. The way SyCo tried to market him really did not work. Compare that to One Direction - you knew (and so did Simon Cowell) that they were going to be successful. They had a big fanbase, and boybands are (/were) a popular trend. Marcus could quite easily be a popstar, but it honestly just depends what road SyCo take him down. It was the same with Matt Cardle last year, even though he was by far and away the best act I never thought he would have a big career post X Factor, just because he is not suited to SyCo as a record label.
