I think Katharine is beautiful but NOT as Marilyn.

Did anyone else read the review that TVLine gave? Makes it sound vv.good and I'm even more excited for it now. Promotion seems great too.

Being beautiful (and Megan Hilty really isn't) doesn't mean they make a good Marilyn.

I didn't say it did, I just think that they both look stunning. Also, I very much disagree with your opinion of Megan Hilty's beauty. I think she's incredibly stunning and so unbelievably talented. I'm such a massive fan of hers, I can't wait to see her on the show.

The pilot is going to be screened early in a few cities and will be available on some American Airlines flights early, but it's also going to be available on iTunes from January 16th so we should be able to find online links from that day.

This shouldn't hurt the premiere numbers at all, it could create extra buzz and even boost them I think. 'New Girl', 'Once Upon A Time' & 'Revenge' were all available online early in some form and all premiered very well.

Just watched the pilot, I thought it was pretty good. I think Katharine McPhee is really miscast in this role, she absolutely doesn't have the voice of a lead on Broadway.

She's a pretty singer but just can't get the high notes like you'd expect. She's too breathy and sounds like she's struggling, which is a shame because I like her :(

The pilot's out? Viewing for tonight sorted :D

I really liked the pilot, it didn't disappoint at all. The performances really brought the songs to life, they aren't the sort of thing I'd listen to on my iPod but in the show they're good and I liked the half stage/half actual scene technique they used during them.

Ivy came across as more vunerable/likeable than I expected but she'll probably get her bitch on soon enough.

Katharine McPhee is meant to be the lead right? It'll probably feel that way in future but it felt like it was Debra Messing's character for the majority of the pilot.

Watching the pilot the now. My good god I missed Debra Messing.

I'm still highly fucked off that it's airing on SkyAtlantic mind.

Just watched the pilot and unsurprisingly I adored it. I also watched the little promo at the end to see what to expect for the rest of the season and I am happy to see that Ivy gets more bitchy. I personally find it very interesting to see behind the scenes of the shows in more details and obviously the audition stage has made me even more nervous for my future. The roles have been cast brilliantly and I am very much looking forward to see the future episodes. Big fan.
I was quite impressed with this; they've set up a diverse and intriguing mixture of character threads that look like they'll play out well. I also love that - as far as I know - they've actually written some original songs for this, much more fun to watch than the Glee-esque performance of 'Beautiful'. McPhee is a liability though - I do like her but she has zero starpower (no matter how many times I set eyes on her, I would not be able to pick her out of a line-up) and, as Scherz said, she doesn't have a Broadway voice. So it might be very difficult to believe the star possibilities they'll all be tussling over from both aspects. But overall, looks good.

I really enjoyed the pilot, the show definitely shows promise! The songs were very well done, although Beautiful was a bit strange. I'm guessing that Karen was supposed to nervous (well obviously) and so didn't use her voice to the fullest in it, it felt weak and limp for me? Really looking forward to see what's to come in future episodes, especially who gets Marilyn! But I wonder is the whole series about the production of this one musical, or will it just follow the actual 'team' doing various projects, as well as Karen and Ivy moving on and doing more auditions etc.?

As for the characters, Julia and Ivy were particularly brilliant, Debra Messing has been off of my screen for too long! I agree with what's been said about Katharine though, she really doesn't have 'it'. I'd certainly pick Ivy if I was casting, Katharine was amazing on Idol but maybe it's just Karen as a character and the way she plays her, can't really take to her much at all.

This was great! Very funny in places (especially Tom's assistant), cheesy in others ('Marilyn wasn't about the sex, she was all about love!') but it got away with it, the characters were likable... Debra Messing obviously stole every single scene, you can't go wrong with Anjelica Huston and I really like Megan Hilty (although she's a rubbish visual match for Marilyn).

The only real problem I had with the pilot is Katharine McPhee and it's a big problem but I really think this show will be a hit and it deserves to be on the strength of the pilot.

I haven't watched the new ep yet but Facebook just ruined who got Marilyn for me -_-

Also found a list of some upcoming songs if anyone is interested:

Cheers (Rihanna)

Redneck Woman (Gretchen Wilson)

Rumour Has It (Adele)

Let's Be Bad (original)

Touch Me (original) (sounds AMAZING. Katharine McPhee does electropop)

Brighter Than The Sun (Colbie Caillat)

Gave this a chance but won't be watching again. Sorry folks.

The scene with Debra Messing's son has probably some of the worst acting/writing I've seen in a LONG TIME. Hilarious really.

The scene with her son really was awful... it was written like he was a six year old even though he was clearly about eighteen. Very bizarre. Otherwise though I thought the second episode was excellent, especially the final scene with Ivy's performance at the club. I'm glad she was picked for Marilyn but you know she'll get injured or something and have to drop out.

That scene was particularly painful. It's either his acting or the way his character is being written but something about him is ghastly.

Debra Messing remains utterly flawless.

Karen? Seriously? But Ivy is so much more talented and likable. Karen is bland.
