That performance showed exactly why I can't stand Arjen Robben as a player, so incredibly greedy and wasteful. Really pleased for Denmark, they've been written off as whipping boys of the group yet are ranked in the world's top 10 and qualified ahead of one of the other teams in it.

They got a great chance of qualifying now, hope they do, my favorite team! Dutch were just wasteful, reminded me of Liverpool last year. Dominated the game, should be put to bed, but not clinical expect to get chances again, but get done by one single goal.

Agger was immense tonight, he's a quality defender and him and Skrtel have been Liverpool's best players this season really.

I had Denmark to qualify at 4/1 and Germany 1st, Denmark 2nd at 11/1 before the tournament, I live in hope! ^_^

Agger, Skrtel and Lucas are Liverpool's best players full stop. And Suarez of course.

Agger would have been the best footballing centre back in the world had it not been for his terrible injuries. He really is a different class. Although he doesn't look like it, his strength is amazing.

As noted by the commentary team too Eriksen hardly got in the game. Denmark have a footballing philosophy, and they might not have the same type of players as football, but it just goes to tell you if you play to the systems strengths and not the players then you can do very well.

Pretty average game, the last 20 mins was the most entertaining part of the match, Portugal just struggled to find the net, they had a few chances but they never a chance to sink it. The goal was brilliant executed by Gomez. Ronaldo was pretty crap at the beginning, in the last 20 mins somebody just stuck a rocket up his arse, pardon the expression.

Only saw the highlights after work, but good on Denmark! Would really like to see them through to the semi's. Was never really worried about Germany failing to make the semi's and we're off to a good start ^_^ Chuffed.
Portugal are poo. Their tactics literally are just give the ball to Ronaldo and hope he can produce something wonderful.
I don't think we watched the same game  We were far from being shite, we just were unlucky in making the goal. I think the result was completely unfair.
Portugal are nowhere near as good as years gone by but they gave a good go of it I thought. Having said that Nani was poor, their three midfielders are all too similar to be in the same team and Postiga is woeful.

No you were lazy and lethargic. Played for the draw all game / hoped to nick a goal on the counter attack. It's what England will do against France aswell. Played well in the final 20 minutes, but by then Germany had got an excellent goal. If you play for the draw and end up getting beat you can have no complaints. You have a good team, and the Germans are not as good as they're made out to be as a lot of their players can have massive off days. But why your manager set out to play so negatively beats me. He could have changed it at half-time and gone for the win as the Germans were there for the taking.

The problem is playing with "fear", especially against the bigger teams. Germany is being put on a pedestal pretty much everywhere as a likely winner and as a super team. That is the major fault of Portugal, the lack of self confidence. There is a very good team there that is capable of taking Germany down (who are not as good as they claim to be), but there needs to be a motivational force behind it from the very start. The press here have been hammering Portugal and its players for a while now (in a lot of cases they do deserve it), but it served no purpose other than demoralize the team. I still think we played a good game throughout and at least we deserved a draw.

Well just compare yourselves to the Danes. On paper they have a worse team than Portugal yet they did very well against the Netherlands without being outstanding. Portugal can do that, I mean you have three world class players in your starting XI in Pepe , Contreau (sp?) and Ronaldo yet the tactics were so negative. The Danes have Agger and Eriksen who are very very good, but perhaps not world class certainly the latter is not. The major problem as RFC already pointed out your midfield is far too similar and Helder Postiga was shite 8 years ago so he obviously hasn't changed! England have similar problems, but at the moment there is not a lot of belief in the national team because we don't have the individual stars at their peaks as we did 6/7/8 years ago, so there's the likelihood our team might perform better without the immense pressure from the press.

Well that was a humiliating game against Denmark. We had SO many chances. Van Persie really annoyed me as he screwed up every chance he got.

I really hoped that Portugal and Germany would end up 1-1 so we had a bit of a chance there still :(

My predictions:

GROUP A

01 Russia

02 Greece

03 Poland

04 Czech Republic

GROUP B

01 Germany

02 Denmark

03 Netherlands

04 Portugal

GROUP C

01 Spain

02 Italy

03 Republic of Ireland

04 Croatia

GROUP D

01 England

02 France

03 Sweden

04 Ukraine

Quarter Finals:

1. Russia vs. Denmark

2. Germany vs. Greece

3. Spain vs. France

4. England vs. Italy

After that, it will be a Spain vs. Germany final, Spain will win.

Spain & Italy

Few chances between them, feels a bit scrappy in places Spain need to take some chances, and if it remains goal less, and Ireland beat Croatia later, Ireland could be leading the group, that is something I wouldn't have foreseen at all.

Ireland got no chance of getting out of this group.

Think Spain and Italy may end a draw. Hope Balotelli doesn't get sent off, as he's playing really well, and so are Italy. I'm very surprised, but they're better than Spain so far. Spain are really suffering from not having a striker. The pundits picked up on it, and I saw it too, they're trying ti play a false number 9, but they don't have the player of Messi's quality to play that role. I expect they'll bring Llorente on at some point. But Italy looked good in possession too. Interesting second half ahead.
