8. Hurt - Leona Lewis

Having now seen her live performance, its a lot better than the studio version and competent enough, but it doesn't come close to the emotion and meaning of Johnny Cash's version imo, it appears a key change is VITAL in XF to prove you can have 'emotion' even when the song really doesn't need it :(

Great to see Leona on the up  It shows that releasing 'Collide' was a big mistake/fail (I love Avicii but Fade Into Darkness is much better than Collide) and ballads are for her. It would be nice if she overtook Coldplay but assuming they perform 'Paradise' it should get a massive sales boost and possibly be the "What's My Name" of this year, spending a few weeks at #2 and climbing to #1 on low sales in the new year

Wow it would be something if 'Hurt' out-peaked 'Collide'. :o

It might even do better than all of last years finalists' recent singles ('Gotta Be You', 'Nothing Real But Love', 'Run For Your Life' and 'With Ur Love') despite having NO video and NO airplay. Just shows how bad the 2010 finalists look when Leona is present.

Hurt could outpeak Collide but on lower opening sales - even if it gets to #3 I'm not sure it'll be able to match 51.9k. Hopefully there's a chance Coldplay could sell six figures if their XF performance boosts it enough, so it can be 2011's 'What's My Name?' :P Should give their album a well-needed massive boost too.

I don't think Hurt will do significantly better than RFYL/NRBL/GBY/WUL. I can see it having a very similar chart run to those.

Wow Hurt #5   Whatever happens now i really dont mind, just getting to #5 is incredible. Anything else now is just a bonus.
Just think that if there was no X Factor winner release tonight or a Coldplay performance, Leona would be almost definitely #1 by the end of tomorrow!!!
do the sales of Leona's EP go into the singles chart as well? or is it just the individual sales of the song..?

I think its sales of EP too so if you buy it individually or the whole EP it goes down as a sale for 'Hurt'.

I think because it's only 3 tracks it'll all be added together onto Hurt, it should do anyway as it's no different than buying a CD single with a remix and B-Side that counts towards the chart. Not entirely sure though.

'Hurt' doesn't seem to be in the albums chart so I assume sales of the EP are going to the single track 'Hurt'. (They'll definitely be combined for official chart purposes :P)

Yeah the other two tracks are like two B-sides. :D

Hopefully they have an advert for it on homepage of iTunes tomorrow too. :)

So what else is new released today, anything?

289. Superbad - Doctor P & Flux Pavilion

The only other even vaguely significant release today and it's flopping (:() Dead week.

thanks! Just bought the EP myself, was just wondering if it was gonna help it climb up the iTunes chart anymore!

T-Pain has a pretty big lead over #4 so Hurt will probably take a while to climb any higher but I think she should be able to get to #2 on iTunes before being knocked down to #3 by the XF winner.
