That's what I mean. With the way music is heading now, it's unlikely we'll ever see a band like Coldplay at number one on the SINGLES chart again.

I know what you mean. But surely it's got to stop soon? I mean, I can't see the party music lasting forever. And I think with Adele being popular, I think we'll be seeing a lot of Rolling in the Deep clones and piano ballads next year, which would be an environment more suitable for Coldplay to be successful in the singles chart.

What makes a song get deleted though? Is it a record company dispute, or just an accident, or what?

I think it's usually just an accident. But there can be other reasons. Like Jessie J had all her songs deleted when she released a Deluxe(?) edition of her album. And Rihanna had all her songs from Loud deleted for a short time because she got taken to court over a sample in one of the songs (even though it was like a year after it was released :drama:).

Leona up to 93. I wonder if it will be able to get top 10? Such an amazing cover of one of my favourite songs. Obviously not better than the original, but her performance was breath taking. Best talent to come out of X-Factor.
Pretty lacklustre performance from Leona tbh. Sick of her singing half a song in a low barely discernable murmur so that she can hit the high notes in her chosen key. Absolutely no connection to the song and not believable. It's a cover, already been done in it's definitive way by Johnny Cash or Trent Reznor depending on your preference. I just do not see the point in her singing that song. I hope it flops big time because of the astounding lack of originality.

The original is one of my favourite songs of all time, I was brought up with that song and will never be beaten by anybody. Leona did a fantastic cover, not a spot on the original, but her vocals are outstanding and there is no denying that. Like you said, depending on your preference it's each to there own. You don't see the point in her singing that song? That's like saying there is no point in any artist covering a song. Some artist's cover songs because they enjoy and connect with the song. I love the fact she covered it, because it will maybe get some of the younger generation to go search up the original and read the story behind it.

Well that's nice to hear. It's a pity in this day and age it even has to be mentioned but my experience of certain social network sites tells me not everyone is enlightned as we'd like to think :(

What I find ironic is that those who consider themselves tolerent, are actually being intolerant themselves - of people with different views... :P

Didnt Leona Lewis record Hurt because its one of her favourite songs. I love that people are then twisting that to say why has she sung it????!!!

Really? We've had phases before that have seen rock music (Coldplay being a watered down examplee, obviously) struggle on the singles chart and then it always seems to come back.

What the!!!??? No connection? It's one of her favourite songs of all time! I completely disagree, I thought her perFormance was intense and showed raw emotion. The reference to her singing in 'a discernible murmur' is ridiculous.....To me that adDs to the quality and authenticity of her voice. She doesn't need to belt out notes through the whole song because she has talent! I like the X-Factor and all three of the Finalits but Leona did make them sound karaoke -_-

 34. Hurt - Leona Lewis

Johnny Cash version still at #44. Leona's version possibly heading for top 20 then?

Thank you, someone who has done the research and knows why she has sung it :cheer:

Coldplay's lead is now 28.1% :D Top 10 should have definitely been guaranteed for them for today's chart, hopefully they've improved on their midweek #10 position (depending on how close sales are in the lower top 10 they could have overtaken Avicii and Ed Sheeran into #8, possibly even overtaking Jessie J into #7 as well? I doubt they've overtaken T-Pain/Rihanna/Lloyd/Flo Rida/The X Factor Finalists 2011/Olly Murs though).

Great for Leona! :o I didn't think it would do this well!

She'll also be on Royal Variety this week!

 20. Hurt - Leona Lewis :o Might even be heading for top 10 then?

'Superbad' by Flux Pavilion and Doctor P was released today, I hope it can go at least top 100.
