December 9, 201114 yr Olly is on 80%ish, XFF on 30%. So Olly is x2.7 XFF on iTunes yet is only selling 1.5k more per day. XFF are certain to sell more physicals tomorrow and their iTunes bar is certain to climb more than Olly's tomorrow as well. I wouldn't say XFF have no chance. Olly is the favourite, but I wouldn't rule XFF out completely. I doubt their iTunes popularity bar will rise that much and even if it does it'll only be in the last few hours of the day, far too late to make any impression. Edited December 9, 201114 yr by Bré
December 9, 201114 yr hope Olly can stay at #1... much better than XF Charity Single and such a nice guy! Glad Rebecca Ferguson's album is doing well too!
December 9, 201114 yr I doubt their iTunes popularity bar will rise that much and even if it does it'll only be in the last few hours of the day, far too late to make any impression. Their iTunes bar rose by about 50% last week I think (i.e. 55% back up to approx 80% IIRC). Its irrelevant at what point during the day it occurs as long as it is before midnight, as the sales will still count, and anyway the bar is weighted more towards the front end so would be more relevant in that sense. We'll see anyway, as I said I still think Olly is favourite but I just wouldn't be ruling XFF out completely at this stage.
December 9, 201114 yr Is 21 still 5 + 1? Dunno what it is now but when I was at school 21 was 5+16 :)
December 9, 201114 yr Their iTunes bar rose by about 50% last week I think (i.e. 55% back up to approx 80% IIRC). Off the back of gratuitous plugging throughout the show. I highly doubt it'll increase anywhere near as much this time.
December 9, 201114 yr They're only doing 9 performances in two hours, last week they had 8 in 1 1/2 hours, plenty of time for plugging it!
December 9, 201114 yr I hope Olly is number 1 in sunday, the osng grows on me with each listen and its very catchy, either way its gona be a decent selling single for him, in terms of both sales and chart positions Ollys first 2 singles of his second album overall are doing better than the first 2 of his debut.
December 9, 201114 yr Over 100k for Rebecca's first week ? Amazing  I know we're getting close to Christmas so sales are going to be huge but still, it's very easy for a new release to get lost in the whole Christmas rush so congrats Rebecca for making your album a success !
December 10, 201114 yr I wouldn't say XFF have no chance. Olly is the favourite, but I wouldn't rule XFF out completely. Neither would I. Those physical sales have been propping them up BIG TIME, holding off Olly despite him massacring them in terms of Itunes popularity. That's important because they'll obviously have their biggest physical sales day tommorrow with most people being off. I do think Olly will probably win it with the lead he will have increased yesterday. The live show won't affect much, Olly is actually on that. Those physicals will decide it, it definately isn't over.
December 10, 201114 yr Love how Olly Murs think he's had a hard year. He's had the easiest promotion handed to him this year.
December 10, 201114 yr Love how Olly Murs think he's had a hard year. He's had the easiest promotion handed to him this year. Glad it just wasn't me who thought that. Bit like when he said he'd struggled to get his music heard on Jo Whiley's music show. There's no one with better radio support. Fair play to him he's doing very well but he's had things very easy.

He must be so shocked he's a #1 contender this week! :o

December 10, 201114 yr Love how Olly Murs think he's had a hard year. He's had the easiest promotion handed to him this year. It's been hard to juggle his commitments though, that's what he means. He did Xtra Factor with no notice while doing the JLS arena tour and he's had to promote two singles and his album while prepping for live shows. And he's had to learn how to present as he goes along. He's had a dream year in terms of a number 1 album, and (probably) two number 1 singles. The Xtra factor job has done wonders for his profile but he's had to put the work in to get that. His hard work since leaving X Factor has got him where he is today. He's performed in most places in the Uk and done interviews with just about everybody. Glad it just wasn't me who thought that. Bit like when he said he'd struggled to get his music heard on Jo Whiley's music show. There's no one with better radio support. Fair play to him he's doing very well but he's had things very easy. Obviously you haven't heard of a band called The Wanted! You know the one whose management control half the radio stations in the country? He goes all around the country with his radio pluggers to get that radio support, sometimes he doesn't get it like initially with Heart and Radio 1 wouldn't play him til he went number 1 with PDLMG. He releases singles that are radio friendly, that definately helps. And you know, X Factor is a great help to all former contestants but it's not automatic success as we see time and time again.
