Posted December 6, 201113 yr OK, I attempted one of these last year and got as far as just the albums. I have the foundations of this laid down and so it will get finished this year, starting tonight. :D 100. Professor Green - Read All About It (UK; #1) -_oLfC5Z_Ys 99. Nero - Promises (UK; #1) llDikI2hTtk 98. Dr. Dre - I Need A Doctor (UK; #8) VA770wpLX-Q 97. Chris Brown - Yeah 3x (UK; #6) 3mC2ixOAivA 96. Yasmin - Finish Line (UK; #13) -HO-E0mlmEc The first five is started off by one of the recent UK #1s, 'Read All About It' by Professor Green, a man I detested last year, but he's actually produced something good this time, even if I only really love it for the chorus. Next we have dance act Nero with their best single 'Promises', which actually benefitted from a low sales week and got to #1 before dropping quickly. 'I Need A Doctor' is another one I love just for the chorus, sung by the wonderful Skylar Grey, although I've grown tired of it since and it isn't her best work. Moving onto Chris Brown, the only one of the five to feature again (he has about 3 entries in total) and he's returned very bearable, with the very catchy 'Yeah 3x'. Rounding off the first five is Yasmin, who hasn't set the charts alight but still managed to produce the great 'Finish Line', where I think her voice sounds magical on the chorus and it's just a charming song.
December 7, 201113 yr Author 95. Alexis Jordan - Good Girl (UK; #6) oAKsClqcgDQ 94. Chris Brown ft. Justin Bieber - Next To You (UK; #14) EEuQU6a90Pc 93. Example - Midnight Run (UK; #36) iwYGi7YG4Js 92. Joe Jonas - See No More (UK; #53) BtOdBDs99iQ 91. Rihanna - You Da One (UK; #39) 2ZK4c69oLPI Kicking off this section is former America's Got Talent contestant Alexis Jordan, who hasn't shown much personality so far or set the charts on fire but she has released a couple of good singles with Good Girl being one of them. Chris Brown is up again at #94, this time with Justin Bieber on the ballad Next To You which I do really like but it got dull and they both have MUCH better songs. Example has his first of a couple of entries, and even though I don't really like him as a person he does continue to release good singles. Joe Jonas lands at #92 with See No More, a song that flopped in the UK despite it being GREAT. Finally we have Rihanna's 'current' single which is still being overshadowed by We Found Love (which pops up a lot later on) and it isn't one of her best or worst singles really.
December 8, 201113 yr Author 90. Pixie Lott - All About Tonight (UK; #1) swcULf1ATyU 89. Wynter Gordon - Buy My Love (UK; N/A) xhEPLCF-SHg 88. JoJo - Disaster (UK; N/A) B9rGNfJmXRc 87. Lady GaGa - You & I (UK; #23) X9YMU0WeBwU 86. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat (UK; #3) sS76eS34Y0c An all female section this time, including a couple of songs that I don't think have even been released in the UK. 'All About Tonight', my third favourite Pixie Lott song, only lands at #90 which goes to show what a QUALITY popstar she is. At the time I was happy that it won the 4th September chart battle, but 'Collide' manages to finish a lot higher up here. The first of three entries for Wynter Gordon is her most recent single release 'Buy My Love' which is brilliant and the fact she has two songs higher up (one of which is A LOT higher) goes to show that unlike Pixie, she does make some corking pop tunes. JoJo's comeback is next, and it's great although not quite up to the standard of 'Leave (Get Out)' or 'Too Little, Too Late'. The first of five appearances by Lady GaGa is 'You & I' and although it was one of my favourites at the time of the album release it did get boring very quickly. Finally we have the European dance hit 'Mr Saxobeat', which has a really good if tad annoying hook, even managing to break the top 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
December 9, 201113 yr Author 85. Bad Meets Even ft. Bruno Mars - Lighters (UK; #10) YWt4wmZ_EMI 84. Clare Maguire - The Last Dance (UK; #23) TpDjO3NQxdY 83. Nicki Minaj ft. Drake - Moment 4 Life (UK; #22) D7GW8TYCEG4 82. Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath (UK; #1) z4nKOzk8qbw 81. Willow Smith - 21st Century Girl (UK; #91) AfuHSJqqgAo Kicking off the latest single is 'Lighters', a collab from Bad Meets Evil & Bruno Mars, which I predicted to be as big as LTWYL & Airplanes, and it wasn't but was still very much a hit. Not as good as the similar structured songs that I mentioned, but one of the best things that Bruno has ever put his name to. Clare Maguire was predicted to be the big thing of 2011 by some and she just wasn't. I haven't been interested in listening to her debut album since it went off to flopsville, but I do love 'The Last Dance'. First appearance from Nicki Minaj is her Drake collab 'Moment 4 Life' featuring one of my favourite music videos of the year which really got me into the song. Not her best, and as such she will be making another appearance much closer to the top 10. Unexpected (by me at least) UK #1 'Don't Hold Your Breath' by NicScherz is next, and it's very nice although no POISON. Finally, '21st Century Girl', the Willow Smith follow up to 'Whip My Hair' is probably the biggest released UK flop of the year to feature here. A much better song than WMH but this didn't have the novelty factor and it also had the obstacle of on air/on sale. Edited December 9, 201113 yr by Jáhq
December 10, 201113 yr Author 80. Martin Solveig - Hello (UK; #13) LnET4RKXx5k 79. Nicola Roberts - Beat Of My Drum (UK; #27) n_BG3n1q5KU 78. Nicole Scherzinger - Wet (UK; #21) C9CjviJ5jsc 77. Dappy - No Regrets (UK; #1) WoImizvsj5w 76. Britney Spears - I Wanna Go (UK; #111) T-sxSd1uwoU European smash 'Hello' (which also went top 50 in the US) is next, and it's a very summery, catchy up-beat song but the repetitive chorus does get annoying after a while. Flopola Roberts is next with debut solo single 'Beat Of My Drum', a song I love despite being quite similar to 'Run The World (Girls)' which I detest. Better than anything Cheryl has ever done, at least she's had more success than Nadine. Nicole's fourth single 'Wet' makes it in at #78, and although better than RT & about on par with DHYB, it's still no POISON. If you'd told me last year that Dappy of N-Dubz would make my EOY top 100 I'd have given you a death glare. Alas, his first solo single is actually vv.good, and probably one of the better UK #1s of the year. Finishing off this latest section is Britney's third single of this era 'I Wanna Go'. I LOVE this, and it goes to show how great the single choices have been this time as all the other three are still to come!
December 13, 201113 yr Author 75. Chipmunk ft. Keri Hilson - In The Air (UK; #37) tKrq8QUOIXc 74. Example - Stay Awake (UK; #1) f5CcOq8UzkI 73. Jessie J - Who's Laughing Now? (UK; #16) KsxSxF3JKeU 72. Lady GaGa - The Edge Of Glory (UK; #6) QeWBS0JBNzQ 71. Glee Cast - Light Up The World (UK; #48) wdHg2zvVczY Just sneaking into the top 75 we have 'In The Air', a song I didn't see much love for. Personally I think it's better than 'Champion' and possibly my favourite Chipmunk single. Describe it as 'generic' or however you want but I have a lot of love for this song. Example has another entry at #74, this time with 'Stay Awake', which I personally prefer to CTWYKM, but I don't know if he'll ever top 'Kickstarts'. Jessie J is at #73 with 'Who's Laughing Now?' which some considered an odd single choice, and although not the most obvious choice or even one of my initial favourites, I've grown to love it, a lot more than 'Who You Are' #unpopularopinion. #72 may seem a bit low for Lady GaGa with 'The Edge Of Glory' which a lot seem to consider the best single of the era (or at least up until MTN), and I did really LOVE it at first but I think it's got very boring with time. Glee enter with an original song to finish off this section and I do love 'Light Up The World' a lot but it's a very inferior version of 'Loser Like Me' which appears a lot higher up.
December 19, 201113 yr Great so far although The Edge of Glory seems so low! :o Have you heard the piano version from the xmas EP, reignited my love for it a bit!
December 19, 201113 yr Amazing so far. Don't think there are any that I really don't like at the moment apart from Alexandra Stan. Glad to see someone else prefer 'Next 2 You' more than 'Yeah 3x' (and I'm guessing 'Beautiful People'). Nice chart Jackie. :P
December 21, 201113 yr Author Thanks for the comments guys :D This should continue later. 'Beautiful People' is still to come, my favourite single from this era. TEOG just got so boring in the end. :( I think I'm getting slightly bored of Lady Gaga overall if I'm being honest. I watched her Christmas special where she performed the songs from the EP but I'm not that fond of the whole piano thing.
