December 21, 201113 yr I think Coldplay stand a good chance of getting there in the new year when all the christmas and x factor related crap starts to fade.
December 21, 201113 yr How about the number one album? Adele's Albert Hall concert is on BBC1 on New Year's Day. So, 21 to go back to number one a week later?
December 21, 201113 yr How about the number one album? Adele's Albert Hall concert is on BBC1 on New Year's Day. So, 21 to go back to number one a week later? Quite possibly, Bublé will obviously not be a challenger any more and there's no significant new releases coming up so she'll just need to get ahead of Amy, Coldplay, Olly, Rihanna and Westlife. If the album is sold at a low price in new year sales that would help. What will be the #1 album the week before? Probably Amy Winehouse climbing back there by default. December 21, 201113 yr I think Lloyd is becoming less likely to climb in the new year. Coldplay's 'Paradise' will no doubt hang around in the top 5 after Little Mix, Lou Monte and Alex Day all begin their descents. As for the new releases - 'Troublemaker' by Taio Cruz screams 'generic hit' - sounds similar to Ke$ha and 'Till the World Ends' by Britney Spears. I think it could top the charts in a similar fashion to 'We R Who We R' did earlier this year - 'Dynamite' and 'Break Your Heart' definitely proved he has established himself in the charts. Reading the above posts, I do agree that Military Wives could well collect a second/third week at the summit - but much like other charity releases/X Factor winners', the sales are primarily in the first week and begin to tailor off in the second week.

December 21, 201113 yr Coldplay's lead over everything else (except MW and the two LMs ofc) on iTunes is decreasing, by the time those 3 are out of the way I think some other old songs might have overtaken it anyway :( It's also bound to be put back up to 99p at some point which could cause it to decrease faster. It's already heading for a massive week-on-week sales decrease, although it won't decrease as fast from now on because obviously its total last week was massively boosted by their XF performance. It might benefit from the gift card effect but I don't think it's been big enough to see a significant boost. Rizzle Kicks' Mama Do The Hump could be another potential challenger for a low-sales January #1 like someone suggested in the iTunes thread. Edited December 21, 201113 yr by Michael Bubré
December 23, 201113 yr http://www.promonews.tv/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/wanted1.jpg If this single had had any proper promotion. I can see Rolling In The Deep climbing all the way up after being awarded with the "Song of The Year" tag all over the media.
December 24, 201113 yr I can see Rolling In The Deep climbing all the way up after being awarded with the "Song of The Year" tag all over the media. It might re-enter the top 40 like Tinie Tempah did with 'Pass Out' when that got Best British Single of 2010 at the BRITs, but no way will it get anywhere near #1
December 29, 201113 yr Coldplay are looking fairly likely to actually take the #1 *this* week - officially that would make it the last #1 of 2011 rather than the first of 2012 but it'll make it the first new #1 that's announced in 2012. So in other words the title of 'first #1 of 2012' could end up being slightly ambiguous depending on whether you consider this week to be a 2011 week or a 2012 week :P Edited December 29, 201113 yr by Coldbray
December 29, 201113 yr I make it the first #1 of 2012 as the blinking week ending from OCC will be 7th January, but its sales belong to 2011. If that makes any sense to anyone.
