December 10, 201113 yr I'll smack your bottom if there's anymore of this bad behaviour. :whip: Do you really find it that hard to type a space between the words 'any' and 'more'? :D (As for the question, I'll take a wild stab in the dark at just over 300k, dropping to around the 100k mark next week). December 11, 201113 yr ive put between 200-300k. i really hope its not cannonball cos that song should not become an x factor winners song, plus it would not suit either finalists voice. if they insist on doing a cover little mix should release dont let go
December 11, 201113 yr ...even Matt, with his runaway success last year, can't appeal to huge numbers vs Rebecca (can't hit a note out of her limited range) and the talentless, pointless and humourless OD. Knew you guys were really unbiased on here. Anyway, I don't think the sales will be that awesome. A lot of people are waking up to reality. Winning a show like the X factor doesn't guarantee success. It is not surprising that 1D and Rebecca have done better than Matt, most people in the industry knew this would be the case. I think if it's Littlemix, they will definitely sell a lot more than Marcus as they are more marketable, although I think Marcus will win it as he is a typical talent show contestant and not really a recording artist. 1D hold the record for the fastest single of the year so far with What makes you beautiful, but the winner could steal it i'd say 180k. December 11, 201113 yr Rebecca chose a convenient time to go on X Factor - by the time she released her album, her style of music has been repopularised in a big way by Adele.
December 11, 201113 yr I've voted 200k <300k. For some reason my gut instinct is that this won't be a massive selling single compared to 'That's My Goal' (700k+) or 'Hallelujah' (500+). Might sell closer to 300k and should easily outsell 'When You Believe' first week sales.
December 11, 201113 yr The ratings are 4 million down from last year so I don't know if it's going to happen the same to winner's single... I say 220k
December 11, 201113 yr Ratings are down and the general impact of XF-related songs seems to have gone down a lot this year - the charity single didn't even top 100k in its first week which is a bit pathetic really. I think we're heading for a relatively floppy winner's single.
December 11, 201113 yr Am I the only person who thinks its going to have huge sales? 2008 viewing figures were pretty similar and Alexandra sold just under 600k or something? Same with Leona. Plus, I get a feeling that LittleMix are going to win by an absoloute Landslide. I dont remember there being so much hype about an act ever, plus, the fact that a group winning + it being a girl group will increase that hype further and get lots of publicity. I can see it doing 530k-ish
December 11, 201113 yr I can see the winner doing 350k if it's Little Mix and about 275k if it's Marcus. Little Mix have so much hype and their winners single could do brilliantly (it won't sell as much as Matt or Joe last year, this is of course because general interest and sales for X Factor have gone down a bit)

December 11, 201113 yr Alexandra was helped by the fact her single was being flogged off for pennies in the closing sales of Woolworths. But that wasn't in her first week, was it? If I remember correctly, most of the Woolworth fire sales were between Christmas & New Year
December 11, 201113 yr Alexandra was helped by the fact her single was being flogged off for pennies in the closing sales of Woolworths. Not until the new year, I remember going into Woolies and seeing it at £3. And even so, that wouldnt explain Leona's high sales, because the show was only pulling in 8 million at that point. Like I said, the fact she was first girl ever to win x factor caused Hype and people to buy the single. Which is why I suspect little mix will have huge sales. I would be shocked if they didnt win
December 11, 201113 yr I'd guess around 300-350k if it's Marcus, around 350-400k if it's little mix. Difficult to guess having not heard the winner's song though.

I can see it doing 530k-ish No, the final in 2008 was watched by nearly 2 million viewers more, the ratings are back to the ratings from 2007. I don't live in the UK so I don't know when something is hyped or not, but it seems the hype didn't help the ratings so I am not that sure their sales are going to be near 500k. December 11, 201113 yr Re-edited the topic title, I think they could sustain a couple of weeks at #1, that's if the public continue to buy the track into the new year. Than again there are tracks that are hanging around the top 10, like Coldplay and Lloyd.
December 11, 201113 yr hazarding a guess at 300-400k, I do there would be slightly more interest in the fact that the winners single is a little bit different from the norm (ie. not another solo male ballad), but generally this year has been a bit of a trudge in comparison so I can't see this going over 500k
