Posted December 12, 201113 yr uber Indie site Pitchfork i'm surprised because nothing like it is on their list. 72. Britney Spears [ft. Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha] - "Till the World Ends (The Femme Fatale Remix)" "Till the World Ends" was already the best Britney single since "Toxic", an ecstatic Euroclub floor-filler about wanting to dance until the world ends and other important matters. Then they added the Nicki Minaj verse. In her 45-second evisceration, Nicki manages to squeeze in chicken noises and the words "poultry," "Epsom salt," and "Ricki Lake"-- not to mention the immortal diss "Sniff, sniff, criiiies/ I done slayed your entire f***ing liiiiife." (Fact: In 2011, pretty much any song in the world could be made infinitely better by the addition of a Nicki Minaj verse.) Sprinkle a little bit of Ke$ha, the song's co-writer, on the chorus, and you've got a three-headed diva Hydra that sums up the recent changing of the femme pop guard from airbrushed and perfect to (relatively) weird and chaotic. It's the year's greatest quickie cash-in remix created to boost the chart position of a floundering single. Considering the ubiquity of the practice, that's saying something. --Amy Phillips http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/...acks-of-2011/3/ ---------------------------- MuuMuse' Top Albums of 2011 1. Britney Spears – Femme Fatale Despite everything that’s ever been called into question–her dancing, her lip-syncing, her ability to read off of a cue card–only one thing has always remained (and until I’m proven wrong, will always remain) true about Britney Spears… The music has never stopped being incredible. From the rallying chants of the Ke$ha-penned “Till The World Ends” to the final heartfelt cries of “Criminal,” Spears’ seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, is a ceaselessly catchy record filled with explosive, surging uptempo cuts (“I Wanna Go”), quirky mid-tempos (“How I Roll”) and racy odes to ex-sexin’ (“Inside Out”) that remain fresh and innovative to this day. By employing both longtime collaborators (Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Bloodshy & Avant), as well as some relative newcomers to the Spears circle (Fraser T. Smith, Will.I.Am), the reigning pop princess dove deep into modern club beats, weird Swede-pop textures, and gritty dubstep influences to craft a cutting-edge collection of future-pop tunes–all while maintaining that unmistakably “Britney” sound. The dubstep breakdown of “Hold It Against Me” alone–the album’s lead single which immediately rocketed to #1 upon release in January (and remains as fresh to the ears as the day it debuted)–has since led to an entire wave of dubstep-infused Top 40 pop, now heard on songs like Flo Rida‘s “Good Feeling” and Rihanna‘s “You Da One.” Femme Fatale celebrates the very essence of pop music, affirming for the seventh time why Britney Spears is the ultimate pop star of our generation. But she’s Britney (bitch), and none of this should come as much of a surprise. After all, there’s a certain catchphrase I coined from back in the very beginning of the year that will forever ring true… http://www.muumuse.com/2011/12/muumuse-pre...tml/#more-25312 ------------------------- Complex- Best 25 songs of 2011 #24. Britney Spears f/ Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha "Till The World Ends (Femme Fatale Remix)" Producer: Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Billboard Label: Jive Records Complex says: It was clear when Britney teamed up with Ke$ha and dropped “Till The World Ends” that she was back to claim slutwave supremacy. However, when Nicki Minaj joined the party for the remix, she took the song to an entirely different level and ethered Lil Kim yet again. The dance club monster of a record gave the original the boost it needed to remain at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. More than a decade deep into her stellar career, it’s yet another radio smash for Britney. http://www.complex.com/music/2011/07/25-best-songs-2011-so-f... ---------------------------- PopCrush Pop divas ruled the airwaves this year. Here's our list of our Top 10 Pop Songs of 2011. 1 “Till The Worlds Ends” By Britney Spears 2011 was already Year of the Spears by January, when Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' topped the charts — but Godney had something even better up her sleeve, the crackling dancefloor barnstormer 'Till the World Ends,' penned by rowdy popstrel Kesha and produced by monster hitmaker Dr. Luke. It's a gargantuan party song with provocative lyrics (“This kitten got your tongue tied in knots,” anyone?), throbbing synths, and a thrillingly euphoric hands-in-the-air chant-along chorus — and there wasn't a more exuberant pop song this year. 2 “Call Your Girlfriend” By Robyn 3 “Mr. Know It All” By Kelly Clarkson 4 “Someone Like U” By Adele 5 “We Found Love” By Rihanna & Calvin Harris http://popcrush.com/pop-songs-2011/ -------------------------------------------------- TEEN.com 1. “Till the World Ends” – Britney Spears (ft. But the appeal of Britney Spears, Pop Juggernaut has always transcended such concerns. Yes, Spears’ vocals and their computerized edits add a nice layer to Femme Fatale’s ecstatic, hook-filled proceedings, but there’s no denying that the directors behind the scenes are due a significant portion of the props. The pop perfection of Dr. Luke and Max Martin is well documented, and their magic can be heard on seven of Fatale’s 12 tracks. They’re rarely the best track on any given album, appealing to as wide a demographic as possible for that first-week sales rush. Individual songs, however, are a different story. In the hype blast of an album release, a cornerstone-gem track can be overlooked by the masses for the sheer sake of feature hype, be it a guest appearance, a dubstep experiment or other grabby gimmick. AQ’s core staff couldn’t come within screaming range on a consensus on the best individual songs released this year, so we’re featuring each writer’s respective lists of the Best 25 Songs of 2011. That way Britney can rear her demon head for those who deem her worthy, as well as the rest of our little niche finds that would otherwise get squashed in committee. Skwerl’s Top 25 Songs of 2011 1. We’re so glad to see her back on track and are thrilled with the friends and family (and Jason Trawick–smoochie smoochie) that she’s surrounded herself with. They clearly heard her cry for help, kept her from getting strapped to a gurney again (yikes), and aided her in being a wonderful mom and performer with a body I’d give my left nut to touch. (2) Ryan Gosling: He breaks up fights on the streets of New York and he’s highly in touch with his feminine side after taking ballet classes and being raised by women and basically having the mind of a girl which means that he’s probably incredible and has the cutest dog in the world which of course makes him even hotter than he already is. And he can act. But that’s pretty much it. (3) Betty White: Do you think it matters that she’s 100 years old? Do you think people care that she has to run her dentures through the dishwasher every night? Do you think it makes one bit of difference that she has Depends in every color, pattern, and texture? Nope. She’s hot, she rich, she works nonstop, and she shows no signs of stopping. She’s Betty f***ing White, people. Have some respect. http://www.dirt.com/3-of-the-hottest-careers-of-2011/ -------------------------------------------------- SPIN's Best Albums of 2011 50. December 13, 201113 yr I've loved this era, tbh. Lots of fans moan about it being bleh but, in my opinion, it is due to the meltdown from 2007 and this era that Britney is consider the pop icon she is now. This era has given her so much: Till The World Ends is considered one of her most epic singles since Toxic. She is the most relevant popstar of her generation even 13 years after her debut and her success is on par with newer, fresher popstars like Gaga, Rihanna or Katy Perry. She was awarded with the Michael Jackson's Video Vanguard Award, which is a great achievement for someone under 30. Femme Fatale is one of her best albums ever, much better than her highly-anticipated comeback album Circus.
December 13, 201113 yr Author Is this good...........? definitely, it's strange to see Britney Spears on those kind list were 90% albums are indie/rock

December 22, 201113 yr Rolling Stone 01. Britney Spears, "How I Roll" Britney hooks up with the Swedish production duo Bloodshy and Avant, who also gave her "Toxic" in 2004 and "Piece of Me" in 2007, and like the first two chapters of the trilogy, it's fiendishly inventive girl noise. Every sound effect that jumps out of the mix – Brit slurring the word "speakerrrr," digital finger-snaps, a real beatbox pretending to be a human beatbox – builds the tension. There's even a plot: An ordinary girl sits in her lonely room, dreaming of party lights far away, wishing she could escape to a place where she can show her kneesocks and drink tequila on the rocks, where there's music and there's people and they're young and alive. But the mean old world won't let her break free, so she just sings along with the machines until she turns into a machine herself, because only the beat understands her. There's your story of pop music right there.
December 22, 201113 yr 'How I Roll' really IS one of the best Britney songs to ever exist. It's easily inside my top 10 Britney tracks of all time. (possibly top 5)! I'm pleased to see it was number 1 on that countdown. What was the countdown of? Best songs of the year? If so, well done to her! I knew it should have been a single at some point! :(
December 22, 201113 yr Digital Spy put 'Til The World Ends as their top single of 2011 :D 1. Britney Spears: 'Till The World Ends' - Chart peak #21. Britney's best track since 'Toxic' takes the lead as our favourite single of 2011; and judging from its chart position, it's also her most underrated hit.

December 23, 201113 yr Best Songs Of 2011: The Top 10 Pop Non-Singles Of The Year Britney Spears, “He About To Lose Me” Femme Fatale is a light-hearted and lusty album full of beat-laden tunes about dancing, lovin’ and straight-up boinking. “He About To Lose Me” is the odd one out, in that there’s actually more than a hint of sadness to it. Call it the LP’s emotional core. Alas, this Rodney Jerkins-produced jam was tacked on as a Deluxe Version bonus track. the other 9: http://idolator.com/6109032/best-songs-201...pop-non-singles

December 23, 201113 yr I resent the EW list, "Shotgun" is not worse than Miley Cyrus' abomination of a cover.
December 23, 201113 yr I resent the EW list, "Shotgun" is not worse than Miley Cyrus' abomination of a cover. Woah, I'm a Miley fan but god it is awful :/ Why is she even trying... Not heard Shotgun but it can't be THAT bad... Jam (Turn It Up) isn't as bad either, she has a horrible voice but it's listenable. Back to Brit, she's doing very well on loads of these types of countdowns with a huge range of songs :o Well done to her!
