46 Britney Spears - Femme Fatale

47 Camille - Ilo Veyou

48 St. Vincent - Strange Mercy

49 Wynter Gordon - With the Music I Die

50 Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto

We start with American pop star Ms. (soon to be Mrs!) Britney Spears and her seventh album. Good God, she's so old now. Fortunately, age doesn't really matter in the pop music industry, does it? 47th place is occupied by an extraordinary french singer, who released her 4th studio album this year, after a 3 year hiatus! She definitely preserved the good old Camille in this record, however interest for it passed very quickly for some reason. I don't know why - there's a lot of stand-out track on the record, all sound fresh, easy to listen to and fairly uncomplicated. St. Vincent and her third album is number 48. She never fails to surprise me, let's just stop at that. Wynter Gordon and her long-awaited debut album is two steps from falling out of the Top 50. Nice and moderately cheesy pop record with no stand-outs - just one good 30-minute track. It's actually a good thing - most pop albums can't boast the fact that they have no bad tracks on it. And number 50 is the only penises in the group, Coldplay and their latest album which pretty much went over my radar and therefore places so low. Paradise whilst being rather good still can't properly grab my attention and take me to the WOW LAND. Mylo Xyloto definitely lacks something X&Y had.

41 Tue West - Ikke Regulere Mere

42 Rebecca & Fiona - I Love You, Man

43 Destroyer - Kaputt

44 Florence + the Machine - Ceremonials

45 Evanescence - Evanescence

Evanescence albums quality reminds me of an average McFly chart run: 1-20-40. 1 being 'Fallen', 20 - 'The Open Door' and 40 - 'Evanescence'. Disappointing. Although it has elements of surprise and excitement in it, the album didn't really impress me, at least as much as their debut record. Come back to softer more melodic versio of the group please. Same I could say for Florence + The Machine. So disappointed. Especially with amounts of FILLER on the album. Incredible singles but so many irrelevant same sounding tracks. Moving on to 'Kaputt', I found it quite dull at times but overall very good and deserving a Top 50 placing. Chinatown opening the album is a perfect choice. Rebecca & Fiona, swedish Goddesses of dance music, are #42. Interesting, versatile and captivating record. Tue West's Ikke Regulere Mere, the first danish language album to appear in this chart, is at #41. 'Simple elegance' would probably best describe it.

36 Fostercare & ritualz - Fostercare vs. ritualz

37 Neon Indian - Era Extraña

38 The Decemberists - The King is Dead

39 Katy B - On a Mission

40 ▼▲▼vagina vangi - Locked Forever (EP)

Neon Indian and 'Era Extraña' is at #37. Probably the biggest grower of the year. I was rather shocked when I discovered ▼▲▼vagina vangi and realised that they were Russian. Russian and making good ass music?! NO WAY! YES WAY. ritualz, through whom I discovered vagina vangi, are at #36 with the 'Fostercare vs. ritualz' collaboration. Fostercare actually pretty much PWNED ritualz with their half, which was far more interesting and just plain MAGICAL, as cheesy as it might sound. 2011 was a good year for witch-house. As for WITCHES, Katy B 'Witches' Brew' really made me look at the album from another angle. It just became GOOD, and I could understand it now.

31 Gang Gang Dance - Eye Contact

32 Sarah - Hjerteskud

33 You Love Her Coz She's Dead - You Love Her Coz She's Dead

34 Salem - I'm in the Night (EP)

35 White Lies - Ritual

Let's start with 'Ritual'. A good follow up for a very good indie band. The bad thing is that it's only 'good'. The debut was gorgeous, so full of life, diversified. 'Ritual' on the other hand lacked energy and versatility of the debut. I just love me some veratile AND coherent albums. Salem with another great record is at #34. 'King Night' finished at #32 in 2010 EoY Album chart, as well having a Top 2 hit, so Salem does manage to keep up with the success for the second year and release good records, even if they only contain four tracks. Quality, not quantity! 'You Love Her Coz She's Dead' and 'Hjerteskud' I listened to while being away on holidays. Both live up to expectations, don't step out of their comfort zones and generally are easy to listen to. For albums that don't pretend for something much greater, they do the job. 'Eye Contact' definitely wins the award for having the most interesting and complicated sounds (especially in 'Mindkilla' and 'Sacer'). So beautiful.

26 Veronica Maggio - Satan I Gatan

27 ritualz - Ghetto Ass Witch - Remixes Volume One (EP)

28 Rihanna - Talk That Talk

29 Frank Ocean - nostalgia, Ultra

30 EMA - Past Life Martyred Saints

There's always someone who just CLICKS at the time of the EoY charts. This year it's EMA. "I used to carry the gun". At first she seemed like another boring noise rock chick, only critically acclaimed. It's good that I was wrong. Frank Ocean was one of my favourite new artists of the year as well. He's not as hyped as The Weeknd but slow and steady wins the race? Anyway, his 'nostalgia, Ultra' mixtape actually took time to grow on me. 'Novacane' and 'Swim Good' are magic. The spoken parts surprisingly fit in as well. Rihanna's inclusion is justified by the brilliance of 'We Found Love', 'Where Have You Been', 'Cockiness (Love It)' and 'Birthday Cake'. At #27 I have ritualz with their first solo EP in this countdown, an EP that consists of 'Ghetto Ass Witch' remixes, and must I say, very excellent remixes (Volume 2 is rubbish actually, it's all about Volume 1). Veronica Maggio's latest and best album to-date manages to get a #26 placing. Finally she records something that is very easy to understand (even though it's in swedish, great pun haha), rememberable, still sounding fresh no matter how many times you listen to it.

50 Wynter Gordon - With the Music I Die

Edited by Condy Choksondik

Actually, I had been reading the comments and always do!

Oh well, expected but good #1! The Medina album defines plain, surprised to see it ahead of Thursday :o Decent top 50 overall, the only one on here where I'll find Britney Spears and Olly Murs filed next to the finest of pitchfork_____11/

1 The Weeknd - House of Balloons - I haven't quite become engulfed in the euphoria surrounding him yet but I'm slowly coming round I guess. I absolutely adore 'Crew Love' on the Drake album.

2 Glasvegas - EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\ - Addmitedly not listened to this after the dire first record they put out.

3 Medina - For Altid - nh

4 The Weeknd - Thursday - see first comment.

5 The Throne - Watch the Throne - nh

6 Active Child - You Are All I See - I don't like Active Child. It's all just noise to me. o:

7 Yelle - Safari Disco Club - this really seemed to go a little under the radar this year, just like the new Camille album.

8 Future Islands - On the Water - don't like.

9 ritualz - Ghetto Ass Witch (EP) - nh

10 Drake - Take Care - I've tried to love this but it still hasn't 'clicked' for me. There are a couple of obviously fantastic tracks on there though.

I also like:

14 jj - kills - kind of like this. Hasn't made a lasting impression though.

15 Chad VanGaalen - Diaper Island

18 Panda Bear - Tomboy

20 James Blake - James Blake

29 Frank Ocean - nostalgia, Ultra - I've never had the inclination to listen to this record although I've always been impressed with what I've actually listened to.

37 Neon Indian - Era Extraña

43 Destroyer - Kaputt

47 Camille - Ilo Veyou

Oh Pav, I doubt I've even listened to 50 2011 albums yet! (In fact, I have 30 albums and 11 EPs)

1 The Weeknd - House of Balloons - Mmk. I do rather like this and would be in my top 10 too! Approval.

6 Active Child - You Are All I See - GORG.

9 ritualz - Ghetto Ass Witch (EP) - Quite possibly the best proper witch house after Salem.

11 Cold Cave - Cherish the Light Years - I've so gone off post-punk. This is about the only album of such I've listened to this year.

12 tUnE-yArDs - w h o k i l l - OhK

13 Tennis - Cape Dory - PISS POOR.

14 jj - kills - Continuously listened throughout the year, 8/10.

19 Lady GaGa - Born This Way - Um yes.

20 James Blake - James Blake - I didn't like this too much until I heard 'Measurements' again last August. Wonderful!

23 Pictureplane - Thee Physical - Disappointing </3

31 Gang Gang Dance - Eye Contact - OMFG. Put this higher. Je t'en prie! At LEAST listen to the genuinely sexy 'Romance Layers' again.

33 You Love Her Coz She's Dead - You Love Her Coz She's Dead - I haven't heard this but thoroughly loved what they were doing a few years back, is it worth listening to?

34 Salem - I'm in the Night (EP) - *Still

37 Neon Indian - Era Extraña - HIGHER.

45 Evanescence - Evanescence - Lul. wut. Is this a 2011 album? What are they doing now? Is Amy Lee still a domineering bitch?

I'm posting my top 15 albums here as you're likely to be the only one that cares </3

1. Gang Gang Dance - Eye Contact

2. Active Child - You Are All I See

3. Battles - Gloss Drop

4. jj - Kills

5. Neon Indian - Era Extraña

6. Chad Valley - Equatorial Ultravox

7. James Blake - James Blake

8. The Weeknd - House of Balloons

9. Dananananaykroyd - There Is A Way (R.I.P.!)

9. Balam Acab - Wander / Wonder

10. Mustard Pimp - No Title Or Purpose

11. Cold Cave - Cherish The Light Years

12. Pictureplane - Thee Physical
