This must be one of the most instant debut singles by British acts ever :drama:

#22 now! Which would make them #18 in a Whitney-less top 20. Amazing, I had no idea they had such a big fanbase. This is so reminiscent of Spice Girls. Does this mean with added airplay, we may just be seeing a #1 debut for the album?!

'Part Of Me' now 97.8% of #1, should be up there any time now. If its airplay continues to grow quickly and it gets a big lead (well, it only really needs a big lead over SFTTR which it already has really) it could actually debut at #1 on the H100!

There's so many curveballs this week though - all 3 Adele songs climbing, Katy, Chris, Nicki, 1D, Glee... the Hot 100 is almost impossible to predict :drama: It would be even moreso if Whitney were allowed to chart.

I could see 1D going top 10 on iTunes.

wtf with 1D

Part of me now number 1.

Ellie starting to climb again after being knocked down severely by what seems like every whitney song

EDIT: Also, is this album being rereleased because the record label want as many number one songs as possible off the album? Thats the only reason I can think of. Its been 2 years and usually a new album all together would be done. Plus for only 3 new tracks... bit of a piss take.

Amazed at 1D! When are they properly promo'ing in the US (talk shows and stuff)?

I would say yes but any #1s from the re-release won't count because, wait for it, the title is too long. So I don't know, maybe they just want to milk as many sales as possible.

Random very vaguely relevant note but 1D were promoting in France today. They must be getting a proper big international push!

Katy would need to sell ~100k more than Set Fire To The Rain, assuming she has an AI of 50million next Wednesday. Not sure if she can do it that week.

Apparently Adele's album could be getting its HIGHEST sales week this week! :o And its 21st week at #1?

You can find full lists of digital sales tallies (for #1s) since 2005 on these Wikipedia articles:

Jack named most of the significant ones, but also over 300k were:

The Black Eyed Peas 'Boom Boom Pow' 465k

Eminem 'Not Afraid' 380k

Eminem feat. Rihanna 'Love The Way You Lie' 338k

T.I. feat. Rihanna 'Live Your Life' 334,550 (not sure this was its debut?)

Taylor Swift 'Today Was A Fairytale' 325k

About Live Your Life, it was its debut on the digital chart (and I think it broke the record for the highest first week digital sales at the time didn't it?).

But it was its 2nd week on the Hot 100, since it was sent to radio 1 week before it was released.

Interestingly aswell, Live Your Life is Rihanna's most successful song on the Hot 100, in terms of longevity at the top of the chart (i.e. #1, top 5, top 10, etc.). The high first-week sales were understandable, given the hype around T.I. at the time (people were still going on about the whole prison thing, and his previous single, Whatever You Like, was one of the biggest songs of the DECADE), given the hype around Rihanna (the song was following on from Disturbia, her best-selling song ever as a lead artist, and also Take a Bow and Umbrella), and the song being generally insanely instantly catchy.

Talking about the biggest hits of the decade, it's nice to see Glee Cast are covering Let Me Love You. :D I listened to their verson of it, and it's a lot more upbeat than the original though. I think a bit too upbeat, perhaps. But I can't complain about the song getting more exposure again (not that it needs it :P).

Based on Whitney's lead over Kelly/fun. she could be heading for close 400k of her top version alone (well, it'll probably drop off over the week but it has another boost due from Glee) and now Katy has overtaken then and SFTTR is currently less than 60% of Katy's bar, I could easily see the gap being well over 100k. Unless I'm massively overestimating Whitney ofc :P

It's not actually had any particularly impressive sales weeks so far, it's only gone over 200k about 4 or 5 times (first week, a couple of weeks in the run-up to Christmas and the chart which is announced tomorrow due to the Grammy effect leaking in on the last day) and its highest sales week was 'only' 299k in the peak Xmas sales week (which is pretty good especially after how much it had already sold to that point, but the US #1 goes over 300k quite often, whereas in comparison her opening week and Mother's Day sales were absolutely fantastic for the UK outside of Q4) Great to see it should finally top 300k with the full effect of the Grammys :cheer: I think '21' could sell 10m+ in the USA in the long run at the rate it's going.

EDIT: Oh, wait, its Christmas sales were 399k, not 299k - still, that's hardly out of the ordinary in the USA, it wasn't even enough for #1 that week :P So it'll actually be topping 400k with the full Grammys effect!

I read that 21 is expected to sell over 500,000 this week! :o I just can't believe how much it's STILL selling.

8. Turn Up the Music - Chris Brown

10. Starships - Nicki Minaj

13. What Makes You Beautiful - One Direction

1D doing amazingly, top 10 by the morning? Big gap between 11 and 10, but they seem to be rising at some pace just now.

I knew they had a fanbase over there but I had no idea they would be able to get them top 10, especially with the charts the way they are right now. Sales must be far higher than usual and yet they're storming past everything. Crazy.

On this page on here, the paragraph about Adele said she's expected to "blow past" her previous high of 399,000 or whatever it was.

And then someone who works for Billboard on Twitter said she *might* pass 600,000 in the week. It would be incredible if she did. That's more than Drake did first week isn't it, and over half as much as Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne did first week, and all those artists have such big fanbases and were very hyped up.

Also, apparently Usher (the Adele of 2004 ) is releasing a new song tommorrow.

01. Katy Perry - Part Of Me  Another Number 1 looking likely!

09. Nicki Minaj - Starships

10. Coldplay - Paradise ("Sigh Glee are going to knock this out of the top 10)

12. One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful

29. The Wanted - Glad You Came (I think it could be a bit early saying this, I think this might miss the top 10, Airplay is still increasing, It all depends on the effect Glee has)

30. Jessie J - Domino

37. Coldplay & Rihanna - Princess Of China

They're off to the states after the Brit awards.

They're off to the states after the Brit awards.

Yeah, a few spots on Nicolodean (or whatever) TV channel and Disney channel should hopefully seal the deal.

So next on the watchlist - ED SHEERAN!
