February 18, 201213 yr Author #09 - Example 'Changed The Way You Kissed Me' - 421 pts Chart Run: (2-3-2-5-6-6-8-7-8-12-17-29-28-20) (14 wks) CLXt3yh2g0s Easily Example's best song! It took him a while to win me over (dunno why, I really like all the singles from the first album now!), so by the time there was news of his sophomore album, I was pretty excited! And I LOVED this on first listen! Much darker and ravier than his previous singles - it felt like a natural progression and I just couldn't wait for more! Unfortunately Stay Awake and Midnight Run were a bit drab and I lost my faith in Example once more :( Just wish he'd released something like 'Playing In The Shadows' as a single - now THAT it is fantastic! :D Quite surprised this didn't peak at #1, but it did hang around for quite a while in my top 10 which more than makes up for it ^_^
February 18, 201213 yr Author #08 - Jessie J feat. B.o.B 'Price Tag' - 452 pts Chart Run: (1-3-9-8-12-8-11-9-6-3-6-12-18-16) (14 wks) qMxX-QOV9tI&ob=av3e I'm not really sure how this got so high?! Out of the top 10 in this chart, this is probably the only one I wasn't 'obsessed' with at some point? I suppose the good chart run and longevity did help, I'm still not bored of it despite all the overplay. It's pretty much as pop should be, fun, feel-good and simple. It's still my favourite single of hers (Domino comes a close second). Hopefully she can have just as much success with her second album as she is very talented and has a fantastic personality!
February 29, 201213 yr Author #07 - David Guetta feat. Rihanna 'Who's That Chick?' - 462 pts Chart Run: (2-2-5-3-6-4-6-5-11-8-12-18-16-14) (14 wks) EAc4zHEDd7o The last track left not to have peaked at #1 in 2011 (well it did in the last week of 2010, which probably explains why the rest of it's chart run is so good to have warranted a place in this top 10!) I was obsessed with this when I first heard it as a demo in October. I remember thinking 'I can't wait to get home from school to listen to Who's That Chick' Only after it left my chart and the UK chart that I realised it wasn't all that. I was just won over by the orgasmic chord progression! It's still one of my favourites from David Guetta, but I rarely listen to it nowadays. Loved the super camp video though!
February 29, 201213 yr Author #06 - Britney Spears 'Hold It Against Me' - 471 pts Chart Run: (1-1-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-2-2-2) (12 wks) -Edv8Onsrgg&ob=av2e Well, well, well! (said a one time famous Duffy) You were expecting this to be higher weren't you? If this chart was based on my personal preference, this would've been top 2 with my YTD winner, but I don't think I'd would've been able to pick one over the other, both absolutely amazing! The looning over this on here was incredible when it first came out! And it was fully deserved! I was loving it every bit as much as the hardcore Britney loons! It spent 12 weeks in my top 3! The reason why the chart run was cut off so soon was because my playlist came into play that week, and Hold It Against Me didn't survive the cut :( This would easily have won the whole thing if it had fallen out the chart 'fairly'. My highlight of it is the trance-like bridge for the final chorus just after the breakdown. MUSICAL PERFECTION!
March 8, 201213 yr Author #05 - Laidback Luke vs. Example 'Natural Disaster' - 513 pts Chart Run: (1-3-3-4-2-5-2-1-4-8-11-10-14-x-9-25) (15 wks) q28e-Z9TAdU&ob=av2e This is the best workout song ever! Motivating, inspirational and tenacious :P Such a shame this never really took off as it is a fantastic dance track! One of the few songs where I prefer the extended mix to the radio edit. Probably the best thing either Laidback Luke or Example have done :D
March 8, 201213 yr Author #04 - Lady GaGa 'Born This Way' - 523 pts Chart Run: (1-2-3-6-5-5-5-7-x-8-11-14-15-15-18-18-24-33-26-40) (19 wks) wV1FrqwZyKw&ob=av2e Probably the most hyped release of the year! I must admit it didn't live up to the original hype and I was slightly disappointed with at first. But I feel it is over-looked far too often because of this overhype and the 'potential' of a new single from GaGa. It's exactly what pop should be, fun, sing-along, catchy, inspirational! GaGa does have slightly edgier songs that are probably better than this, but they would've done nowhere near as well! The only let down of this is the music video that really doesn't go with the song. I've given up on GaGa videos now so I've managed to put that past me and just enjoy the song for what it is! :D
March 8, 201213 yr Author #03 - Lady GaGa 'Judas' - 635 pts Chart Run: (4-4-3-2-2-3-1-3-9-6-4-2-2-5-11-14-7-28-34) (19 wks) wagn8Wrmzuc&ob=av2e Now for my favourite GaGa song! I fully believe that if it wasn't for the religious themes in this that it would've been a worldwide smash! This was the GaGa I was looking for in Born This Way. Daring, exciting and not afraid to push the boundaries. Provided with a 'normal' video (for GaGa anyway :P) the whole package just clicked and it slowly grew to become my favourite of hers! I'm quite surprised that it took so long to climb to #1 actually! Must've been busy? I don't really see the Bad Romance connections either as that is far more anthemic and has mass-appeal to gain fans, whereas this is more catered towards the fans she already has. Top two will be coming tomorrow, what do you think they are? And who will get that treasured #1? :o
March 9, 201213 yr Author #1 = Video Games I'm guessing :D Video Games was at #19! It's entirely based on the points system of my chart, it only debuted in my chart in September/October so it's done very well just to get there!
March 9, 201213 yr Author #02 - Britney Spears 'I Wanna Go' - 645 pts Chart Run: (5-5-3-1-1-2-2-2-2-1-3-1-2-19-4-5-8-27) (18 wks) T-sxSd1uwoU&ob=av2e Poor Britney, only managing to be the princess of my EOY chart and not the queen :( This song would've been massive it had been released by any other world famous female popstar with a decent release! I'm still astounded at how the UK so viciously rejected it whereas it was fairly big elsewhere around the world! The thing is all the rest of the chart music was just like it! But this was so much better! Despite not even damaging the top 100 in the UK, it had a monster chart run in mine and fully deserves it's place at #2 in the countdown. That means there's only one song left! The numero uno! The BIG one! Beating 'I Wanna Go' by over 500 points is...
March 9, 201213 yr Author #01 - Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull 'On The Floor' - 1045 pts Chart Run: (1-6-4-13-7-2-1-1-1-1-x-5-2-1-1-3-2-3-5-6-4-7-7-5-9-10-8-6-13-10) (29 wks) t4H_Zoh7G5A&ob=av2e So this is it. My favourite song of the whole of 2011! And what a song it is! Definitely a contender for my favourite song of all time, it's just perfect! Who would have thought J-Lo could make a song this amazing?! Fully deserving of my EOY #1! :D The whole shebang is just fantastic! No weak points! The stunning intro, the punchy verses, the club beat, the bridge, the build up to the orgasmic Lambada sampling, even Pitbull's rap is fantastic which means it is out of this world by his standards! Anthemic, sing-a-long, dance-a-long, sexy smasher! This is the definition of a club banger. Everyone else should just give up now.
March 9, 201213 yr :cheer: for Gaga. Judas should've been massive, I agree. I guess the early release of The Edge of Glory didn't really help it either, who knows, maybe it just didn't click with people. I remember it being so instant and loving it just after 1 listen. As for it taking so long to get to #1 in your chart, maybe it climbed to the top the week the video (EASILY her best one yet) was released? It was at #1 for 9 weeks in my personal chart, and its still at #12 now. :kink: AMAZING #1. Also my favourite song of 2011. Still love it to this day. :D
