Nero's biggest selling single is also rightfully their highest entry on this countdown at number 95 - although it only just made the top 10, 'Guilt' has sold quite a bit more than their #1 hit 'Promises', though neither have passed 200,000. The lowest peaking song in the top 100 and one of only two to have missed the UK top 20 is Jeremih's 'Down On Me' featuring 50 Cent, which only made #30 but great longevity sees it at #94 for the year on this countdown. Emeli Sandé's long-awaited first release as the lead artist, 'Heaven' is at #93 - a great song which owes a lot to Massive Attack but the follow-up 'Daddy' (feat. Naughty Boy) unfortunately wasn't so great. She releases debut album 'Our Version Of Events' later this year. The highest selling single of 2010, Eminem feat. Rihanna's 'Love The Way You Lie', clings on at number 92 for 2011 - along with the aforementioned 'Down On Me' and one other still to come, one of only 3 entries in the top 100 with a 2011 peak of lower than #20. Finally The Black Eyed Peas' 'Don't Stop The Party' is at #91, the song that ended the Peas' run of top 11 singles that had been going since 2003's 'Where Is The Love?' (excluding 2010 #55 hit 'Imma Be' which wasn't ever a fully promoted UK single).

'Raise Your Glass' is the first single from Pink's greatest hits album and one of her best singles to date, managing to hang around a lot and get top 90 even with it only peaking at #19 last year. I didn't know a lot about the next track so I asked Bray. Apparantly "it's Dutch DJ Tiësto's biggest hit to date", "it originated as an instrumental track then busta rhymes featured on the single version" and "it's amazing", although I disagree on that last point. The second single from Alexis Jordan's self-titled album is 'Good Girl' which comes in the middle of this section not that far above the first single which was released in 2010. First single from Jason's second album 'Future History' is next and continues the run of his worst tracks getting to #1 whilst the better ones fall short. Charlene's cover of 'Wherever You Will Go' completes this section after rising to the public's attention thanks to some advert. Personally I think it has nothing on the original.

^ You don't know C'mon is amazing! :o

Good to see 50 Cent in the top 100. Although I assume we've still got Right There and Buzzin' to come aswell. 8 years, and still dominating. Legend.

That Jason Derulo song is awful. Don't Stop the Party is one of the BEPs worst songs. :( They had much better single choices on their album imo. There were a few other interesting songs they could've picked. Emeli Sande, Eminem and Nero's songs are amazing.

"Raise Your Glass" is alright, nothing special but a solid Greatest Hits lead single.

"C'mon" is actually rather good.

"Good Girl" I think I prefer to "Happiness", it's got something more about it IMO.

"Don't Wanna Go Home" signifies so much that's wrong with the music of 2011 but it sounds f***ing awesome in a club, which is surely the point.

I'm tired of the whole girl-with-piano-covers-old-song malarkey and "Wherever You Will Go" is a pretty unimaginative cover but my least favourite part of the original was the vocals so I probably prefer Charlene's version.

JLS' fifth of six UK #1s to date, 'She Makes Me Wanna' featuring Dev (or, as Jack would call her, 'DEV'), is at #85. Generally considered to be a 'non-#1', I suppose it is but I still think it exceeded expectations - which can't be said about anything else in JLS' 'Jukebox' era. At #84 is our first song to break the thousand points barrier, Ed Sheeran's 'Lego House', the third single from debut album '+'. The video stars fellow celebrity ginger Ron Weasley Rupert Grint leading to confused parents all across the country thinking Grint was singing it. The last really old song on the countdown is Tracy Chapman's 1988 hit 'Fast Car' which re-peaked at #4 in 2011 after being sung by Michael Collings on Britain's Got Talent. Collings finished just fifth in the competition but he at least 'created' a hit - albums from the top 2 of the series (Jai McDowall and Ronan Parke) have both been monumental flops. Ke$ha's 'We R Who We R' is at #82. It's her only solo number 1 hit to date but 'TiK ToK' is definitely still a much bigger hit despite peaking at #4. Finally, Coldplay are at #81 with the brilliant 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', the lead single from their fifth album 'Mylo Xyloto' - their highest entry on the countdown, but follow-up single 'Paradise' surely would have bested it if not for its six weeks of ineligibility for the chart.

Beyoncé's lead single from '4' manages to make the top 80 after managing to stick around despite peaking just outside the top 10. I'm very glad it didn't make the top 10 as I think it's terrible but thankfully the rest of this era has been really really good. 'Feel So Close', the follow up to 'Bounce', is just a point in front. Producer Calvin actually sings on this one, the 2nd single from a yet to be released third album. Will Young's comeback fares very well, especially as I didn't really expect him to have another hit but the lead single from album 'Echoes' is actually very good and deserving of it's top 5 peak. Pixie Lott's third #1, the first single from 'Young Foolish Happy' misses out on the top 75 but that's more than can be said for second single 'What Do You Take Me For?'. The Voice US judge Cee Lo Green just misses out on the top 75 with 'Bright Lights Bigger City', the third single from 'The Lady Killer'. I'm not really keen on the man but he has improved since the Gnarls Barkley days.

Run the World, Feel So Close and Bright Lights, Bigger City are  The latter is practically the only thing I've heard from Cee-Lo in the past 12 months which I liked.

71. Chris Brown feat. Justin Bieber - Next To You

Opening the top 75 is Spaniard Enrique Iglesias with the crudely titled 'Tonight (I'm F**kin' You)' featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E, also known by its clean version 'Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)'. Enrique's career hasn't gone so well since this song, with follow-up 'Dirty Dancer' (with Usher feat. Lil Wayne) only reaching #21 and then 'I Like How It Feels' (feat. Pitbull and The WAV.s) missing the top 100 altogether. The Black Eyed Peas come in at 74 with their 2010 #1 'The Time (Dirty Bit)'. Wiz Khalifa's 'Black And Yellow', one of the only rap hits of recent years without any dance influence, is at #73 - the song went top five but underperformed greatly to say a 'fake' cover version of it reached as high as number 35. Tinie Tempah's fifth single 'Wonderman' featuring Ellie Goulding is at #72, rightfully outselling previous single 'Invincible'. Finally, Chris Brown is at #71 with his third single from album 'F.A.M.E.'. I don't dislike Chris Brown's music but 'Next To You' is in my top/bottom 5 of 2011 and not just because of the featured artist (although Justin Bieber is always a put-off).

Tonight is so boring and empty. I like The Time, although I know I'm the only one who does. :drama: Black and Yellow is one of the best songs of 2010/2011 imo. Such an anthem, and the beat is incredible. Likewise with Wonderman, and incredible beat (although this IS Labrinth we're talking about here ). Next to You is good considering the artists, and it was a nice change of pace from Yeah 3x and Beautiful People (and also the rest of the top 40 at the time tbh).

Kicking us off here is 'Lights On', the awful 2nd single from 'On A Mission'. I don't like Katy B at all but I think this is easily the worst single out of them. So in a way I'm glad it finished below 'Judas', the 2nd single from 'Born This Way' and although it isn't amazing by Lady Gaga's standards which is evident by the way it flopped (too similar to Bad Romance? overshadowed by The Edge Of Glory?) I still love it. Summer #1 from DJ Fresh, 'Louder', takes the middle spot in this section and it's a decent enough song and better than the follow-up 'Hot Right Now' which is released very soon. The debut solo single from Dev, 'Bass Down Low', lands at #67 after sticking around a lot and just managing to peak inside the top 10. Another track that I consider to be decent enough. Finishing us off is 'I'm Into You', the 2nd single from 'Love?'. Not quite the big follow-up to the huge international smash 'On The Floor' but not a flop either, just missing out on the top 65 here.

Notice how any big gaps between posts are Jack's fault, not mine :kink: So if this does stretch out for as long as 2010's, I'm blaming Jack.

By far the highest song on the list which missed the UK top 20 is Wynter Gordon's 'Dirty Talk' which spent an astonishing twelve weeks in the top 40 despite never going higher than #25; it finishes 65th on the overall countdown. JLS' sixth single (third from second album 'Outta This World') 'Eyes Wide Shut' is at #64. It's one of the laziest examples of the 'copy and paste a rapper for the single release to make it peak higher' technique sometimes used for post-album singles - Tinie Tempah's featured part is less than 20 seconds long. It still improves the song though IMO and it did its job, getting the song as high as number eight (previously peaked at #10 on sales of the JLS-only version). The Black Eyed Peas are at #63 with 'Just Can't Get Enough'. I loved this at the time but haven't heard it in many a month now. Sean Combs' latest project Diddy - Dirty Money are at #62 with 'Coming Home' featuring Skylar Grey, the third of four major hits produced by Alex Da Kid in 2009-10. Finally, another example of copy and pasting a rap for the single release, 'Right There' by Nicole Scherzinger with added 50 Cent, is at #61 (although the 50 Cent version was never as popular as the solo version in this case).

"Right There" is tacky as hell. Her solo singles have largely got worse and worse except that "Wet" probably isn't quite as bad as RT. "Poison" was pretty good, "Don't Hold Your Breath" obviously realised it had a killer chorus and insisted on repeating it ad infinitum - thus diminishing the appeal.

FANTASTIC bunch of songs here!!!!

Right There, Coming Home and Just Can't Get Enough are three of the best songs of the year. I love those songs so much.

I'm Into You, Bass Down Low and Lights On are great too.

First up is the huge #1 smash from Rihanna, 'We Found Love', the first single off her 6th album 'Talk That Talk'. Out of it's 12 chart weeks in 2011, it spent an impressive half of those at #1 non-consecutively including a week when it didn't have a full 7 days worth of sales. Rihanna finishes just ahead of herself with 'California King Bed', the boring 4th single from 5th album 'Loud' which flopped in America but just managed a top 10 peak in the UK. Rihanna manages to have a 3rd song in a row, this time as part of the various artists featured on Kanye West's 'All Of The Lights' taken from critically acclaimed 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'. Pretty good going for Kanye, #58 and 24 weeks with it only just going top 15. Ellie Goulding's Elton John cover of 'Your Song', taken from 'Bright Lights' and also the John Lewis advert in 2010, manages to get a good placing her despite being a 2010 release. Stunning cover, deserving of being her biggest hit even if it is, you know..a cover. Finally we have 'Sexy & I Know It', the 3rd single from 'Sorry For Party Rocking' and a worldwide smash right after the flop that was 'Champagne Showers'. Personally I find it really annoying but I guess I can see the appeal.

At #55 is David Guetta's 'Little Bad Girl', the second single from his fifth album 'Nothing But The Beat'. It features Taio Cruz at the peak of his shameful Americanisation and also Ludacris. 'I just like to put my hands up in the urr' indeed. I do quite like it though, mostly for the production and Ludacris' bit. It was another big top 5 hit for French DJ Guetta here but bombed in the USA. Taio Cruz rears his head again at #54 with 'Higher' featuring various combinations of Kylie Minogue and Travie McCoy. The above video is a fanmade mashup of the videos of the Taio & Kylie version and the Taio & Travie version, set to the music of the all-three version (which was the official single version in the UK). P!nk's 'F**kin' Perfect', or just 'Perfect' if you will though that makes its title too generic for me, is at #53. The song just barely sneaked a place in the top 10, which isn't bad going really for a second single from a greatest hits era (especially as the first, 'Raise Your Glass', only made #13). Mann's 'Buzzin', released here as its remix form featuring 50 Cent, is at #52. It's a pretty good song which samples 'I Can't Wait' by Nu Shooz; Mann's fairly floppy second single 'The Mack' featuring Snoop Dogg and Iyaz had a much more obvious sample and was also nowhere near as good. Finally, at #51 is X Factor 2010 third-placed boyband One Direction's massive debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful'. I'd slag it off here but Jack didn't slag off my favourite song of the year when he had the opportunity so I won't slag off his. I'll just leave it at 'it's not to my taste'.

We Found Love - California King Bed - All Of The Lights - Your Song - Sexy And I Know It is a pretty good run of songs. WFL (don't like calling it that, makes me think of the Happy Mondays' superior song) grew on me a LOT and sounds good when you're in a club, CKB is alright I guess, AOTL is magnificent although it's still a distant third or fourth of the four singles off the album for me (depending on whether I'm "getting" Runaway that particular day, I know that's a wildly unpopular opinion but Power is my favourite song that he's done and Monster is complete wub even on the strength of Nicki's verse alone), YS is a completely gorgeous cover which I agree deserves to be her biggest hit and SAIKI is great fun when you're out.

That's two sentences. Phew.

Into the top 50 now and only two songs per post so things SHOULD speed up and be done by March.

50. David Guetta feat. Usher - Without You

Peak; #6

49. Chase & Status feat. Liam Bailey - Blind Faith

Peak; #5

Weeks; 35

Points; 1293

David Guetta's third single from 'Nothing By The Beat', 'Without You', just sneaks into the top 50 and not everyone loves it but I think it makes a great single (more so than 'Little Bad Girl') although it isn't quite the best from his album. 'Blind Faith', the third single from 'No More Idols', just beats out fellow producer David Guetta after peaking a place higher and managing an impressive 35 weeks inside the top 100 - a lot more than I expected, the songs that managed to achieve more finished a lot higher up in the countdown.

Notice how any big gaps between posts are Jack's fault, not mine :kink: So if this does stretch out for as long as 2010's, I'm blaming Jack.

Yeah yeah, sure thing
