Adele looks set to make 2012 another great in her career, there just seems no stopping the huge success of 21, I believe there is a possible further 1 million UK sales left in the album.

Surely everyone who watched that Adele show would have already bought her album, can't wait to Lana Del Ray's album comes out, might not to be then that we have a fresh number one album

The sales would suggest otherwise  I saw part of it (after Match of the Day had finished) and I haven't got the album :D

Who the hell is this Adele person and where did she come from?

IS THAT POST REALLY NECESSARY

Of course not but if we removed all the unnecessary ones there wouldn't be many left.

I watched it and I haven't bought it - just cherry-picked 'Someone Like You', 'Turning Tables' and 'Set Fire to the Rain' a few months back. I see your point though, it seems even the slightest performance sends her sales rocketing again.

I'm appreciating the lack of new album releases, it means the likes of Winehouse, Sheeran, Mars, Adele, Coldplay, Rihanna etc. can all generate some more sales and keep a good chart run going. The Vaccines in the top 10 is the best piece of news from this update though - such a brilliant album.

I really hope JLS miss the top 10 singles this week but have a feeling they may hold on given the lack of new entries around.

I don't think so. Taio will slot in the top 10 and Moves Like Jagger will hold JLS off in the long run.

Hope JLS fall out of the top 10 this week. Stupid fan girls buying a few copies of the CD and downloading it across every eligible music store.

I'm 100% sure JLS will hold onto their top 10 placing this week. Only Maroon 5/Christina (I assume they are behind JLS atm) and Taio will overtake JLS in the long run (maybe not even the former). Nothing else really poses as a major threat to them.

Expect Adele to go back to #1 for another run when the BRIT Awards are broadcasted.

Great to see James Vincent McMorrow's version of 'Higher Love' is in the top 40. All of JV's royalties from the song (and his fee from it being featured in the LoveFILM advert) are going towards a Dublin based mental health charity, "Headstrong", so it's great to see it selling so well.

He gets royalties from it?

DYFWIF is JLS's worst single to date imo, they really don't deserve a top 10 spot ! im sure they will just go by their usual routine of releasing nomore singles of the album after this single then bring out a totally new song in the summer (Dance/Pop/RnB) then another one in time for x factor (sloppy ballad) then a new boring album.. so predictable that 'band'

Sure, why wouldn't the artist get a royalty?

Sure, why wouldn't the artist get a royalty?

Because he didn't write the song? I thought royalties went to the songwriter(s).

He gets royalties from it?

He gets royalties for performing on the song. Songwriting royalties still go to the writers of the song, Steve Winwood +1.

They go to everyone - writers, performers, producers, label etc. etc. Just the proportion varies.
