David Guetta holds steady at No 2 with ‘Nothing But The Beat’ while Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Wrecking Ball’ climbs up a place to No 3. Virtual pets Moshi Monsters achieve the next highest new entry coming into the Top 10 at No 4 with ‘Music Rox!’ closely followed by Nicki Minaj whose second album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ is a new entry at No 5. A better showing than her original release ‘Pink Friday’ which debuted at No 45 back in 2010 and peaked at No 17 over a year later. Labrinth also achieves a Top 30 entry as his debut solo release ‘Electronic Earth’ enters at No 23 – he bears the distinction of being the only artist to be signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Music label without having appeared on a talent show. The fifth new entry in the Top 40 goes to Orbital’s ‘Wonky’ at No 40 - their first studio album for 8 years and a better placing than 2004’s ‘Blue Album’ which entered at No 57. Carly Rae Jepsen remains ahead of the pack on this week’s Singles Chart taking a third week at No 1 with ‘Call Me Maybe’ while Fun featuring Janelle Monae continue their climb up the chart with ‘We Are Young’, up to the No 2 spot from last week’s No 10 over four months after its original release. Janelle Monae), whose ‘We Are Young’ is a non-mover at No 2. Gotye & Kimbra climb back a place from No4 to No 3 with “Somebody That I Used To Know’ while Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’ swaps places to drop to No 4. David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ is also a non-mover completing the Top 5. B.o.B provides this week’s highest new entry coming into the Top 10 at No 9 and achieves his third Irish Top 10 hit – he reached No 2 in 2010 with ‘Airplanes’ (with Hayley Williams) and No 7 with ‘Nothin’ On You’ (with Bruno Mars) in the same year. After a push on various social media sites Wheatus bring their hit ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ back into the Top 30 at No 29 eleven years after its original release when it reached No 2. Mick Flannery also holds on to his lead at the top of this week’s Album Chart taking a second week at No 1 with ‘Red To Blue’ while Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ climbs three places to the No 2 spot. After an incredible fifteen months in the chart when it has never been out of the Top 10, Adele reaps the benefit of Easter sales to see ‘21’ climb back into the Top 3 at No 3. The Moshi Monsters ‘Music Rox!’ holds firm at No 4 while David Guetta drops to No 5 with ‘Nothing But The Beat’. Alabama Shakes make their first appearance on the Irish Charts as their debut album ‘Boys & Girls’ is this week’s highest new entry at No 13 while Florence + The Machine’ also enter the Top 20 with their ‘MTV Unplugged’ release comimg in at No 15. The only other new entry in this week’s Album Chart is for The Counting Crows whose new release of cover versions – ‘Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation) ‘ comes into the Top 50 at No 46.
