Posted January 8, 201213 yr I didn't know whether this should be a thread in itself, but couldn't decide where else to put it.. “Here’s whats going on with Glee,” Reilly told the press at the Television Critics Association winter tour on Sunday. “We are graduating the characters that are [due]to graduate, and what’s come out of it is Ryan [Murphy] and the guys have come up with a really cool idea. “There will not be a Glee spinoff, but those characters will graduate and it’s led to a very interesting idea that I think is gonna really give us something cool to dig into next season.” Reilly offered no further details, other than to confirm that “graduating” cast members such as Lea Michele will remain with the show going into Season 4 next fall. @msleamichele Lea Michele Ryan Murphy has some brilliant and ground breaking ideas for including us graduates in the show for next season! It's going to be great! Source Interesting to see how this turns out, Rachel & Kurt are meant to be going to New York, I hope they don't keep them as teachers or something. Not too bothered about the spinoff not happening as I like the school environment and I wouldn't want them using some characters (Rachel & Kurt) but still dumping all the rest. Same for anyone really, it's not that much different than scenes with characters at home. Just permanently rather than for a scene. They could easily just come back and visit once or twice a series as well. Either that or I was thinking that Rachel could coach a rival choir (though with her friends still in ND, I think that would be against her character. I know she's very ambition driven but I think at the end of the day she really does care about her friends, for example when she stuffed the ballot boxes so Kurt won the election, she took the blame even though her place at NYADA was at risk).
January 11, 201213 yr This idea is getting called "innovative" and "ground-breaking" rather a lot. Probably hyperbole, but I am interested nonetheless.
January 11, 201213 yr It looks like Fox have probably shot down the spin-off because of their pathetically small schedule.
January 30, 201213 yr It looks like Fox have probably shot down the spin-off because of their pathetically small schedule. I bet you they'd have gone ahead with it had the show still been the powerhouse it was last year... That said, I don't think a spin-off is a good idea. Be interesting to see how they handle the graduation of characters though. It'd be ridiculous to not have them go to college, so I can imagine the show will become either mroe cluttered than it already is or the hyperbole is justifiable.

It's ratings are slipping and with the traditional season on season decline it should make it to S5, not sure about a 6th season.
