Posted January 16, 201213 yr CgRp7uTqAfE Following the unexpected million seller Moves Like Jagger, Wipe Your Eyes is a new Maroon 5 leak produced by Jason DeRulo and JLS producer J.R. Rotem. What on EARTH is the sample at the start that the song is based around, I'm sure it's a Europop song but I can't place what it is. Any ideas TomKay/Hitstastic/anybody else?
January 16, 201213 yr "Moves Like Jagger" sounded like a massive smash while maintaining some links to their old sound. This sounds like a poor remix of an old b-side, not impressed.
January 16, 201213 yr This is listenable (as in I wouldn't turn it off it it was on the radio/TV or whatever) but it's a huge step down from MLJ (obviously). I don't see why they feel they must be all 'cool' and go modern on us, I wasn't a big of fan of them doing the pop/rock but it suited them...

I don't see why they feel they must be all 'cool' and go modern on us, I wasn't a big of fan of them doing the pop/rock but it suited them... Not many acts these times can get away with churning the same old stuff out. Their last album was a pop/rock effort (well, loosely) and it bombed completely. Moves Like Jagger was completely different to anything on their 3rd album. I'm glad they're trying something new, as I've always liked them. They're lucky that they've been given a second chance because of the worldwide success of Moves Like Jagger. There's interest in them as a band again, and not just Adam Levine. Otherwise, their 4th record would have bombed completely.
January 16, 201213 yr Also I've just Googled this - I don't think it's being released as a single. Everyone seems to think it's an unfinished demo. There's wo way this could be released as a single in its current format, it's nowhere near strong enough.
January 16, 201213 yr Author I guess my source was wrong, I'll change the opening post! Still, the sample at the start is massively bugging me, anyone have any idea?
January 16, 201213 yr 1omnXnz0ejo I don't think this is a good direction for Maroon 5 at all - 'Moves Like Jagger' really worked - this just really fails.
January 16, 201213 yr It seems more like a solo effort for Adam, I don't hear the other guys playing on it at all. It's OK, but only OK, I don't think this will be a hit, and hopefully not a single either...
January 16, 201213 yr Author Thanks Theo, I don't even recall hearing that song before but I know I've heard the sample before, must have been used in someting else too
January 16, 201213 yr Sounds better without the chipmunks at the start of the track, it seems okay in places, apart from the odd rap, towards the end of the track. I can't see the track sticking around though after MLJ.

Not sure... it made me think of Mambo Italiano by Shaft but it's not really like it. My lack of Europop knowledge was always going to let me down on this one!
January 16, 201213 yr No way is this what you follow a mega smash like 'Moves Like Jagger' with, let's hope they don't go with this.
January 18, 201213 yr This one was first. La Style came out 6 months later sampling N.U.K.E. N.U.K.E. Nana from 1992
January 18, 201213 yr I highly doubt Maroon 5 will ever release anything else which attracts the same kind of success as "moves like jagger". They've done some fairly average songs in the past but nothing that stands out enough apart from the above mentioned.

I agree, Moves Like Jagger has been a massive hit, could be wrong but it's doubtful they will top that one.
January 19, 201213 yr Author I can only think of Celine Dion and Rihanna that have got a million seller and then gone onto score a bigger hit than that afterwards, so that would be a wildly exclusive club if Maroon 5 could ever better Moves Like Jagger :o
