Firstly, thank you to everyone who submitted a track for the eighth edition of Unknown Pleasures, it is most appreciated. Well that is aside from the couple of people who sent mp3s that were so bad in quality that they were virtually unlistenable. Fear not however for I have managed to acquire better versions to save our collective ears.

 

As confirmation filled up so quickly, I thought I'd open the voting a bit early to give you an extra weekend to try and familiarise yourselves with the songs. I'll be sending out links soon enough, this time there are two as the file was too large to upload in one go - however that gives us a nice little double CD to immerse ourselves in over the next couple of weeks.

 

I've not included any of the youtube links etc so far, let's face it everyone seems to only listen to the tracks anyway. However if you're reading this and would like the links, I do have them to pass on if you send me a nice enough little PM (it turns out a couple of you do use them so I've edited them in two posts down).

 

So without further ado, here is the list of tracks you've been busy sending me over the past week. Fingers crossed there are plenty of great little gems that you can discover for the first time.

Once you have listened to the songs often enough to decide upon your favourites, the next step is to send me your votes.

You do this by PM, please do not state your votes in the thread.

You must assign votes to your twelve favourite tracks in the contest as follows:

 

01 • 20 points

02 • 15 points

03 • 12 points

04 • 10 points

05 • 08 points

06 • 07 points

07 • 06 points

08 • 05 points

09 • 04 points

10 • 03 points

11 • 02 points

12 • 01 point

 

There is a deadline for voting and that deadline is midday on Wednesday 8th February. I will then provide the results over the following weekend.

That gives you over two weeks to get to know the songs and hopefully have time to make an informed judgement.

Unfortunately there is a penalty to anyone who does not vote in time, if you don't manage to vote then your song will suffer a 20 points deduction from it's total score.

If you're reading this and haven't submitted a song but like the idea of playing along with us, please feel free to PM me for the link and you can provide your votes to help form the final standings.

I know only one (that was used before in BJSC) and my own entry, so lots of discoveries to be made hopefully, I'll probably listen to them tomorrow for the first time!

Sorry Chris, it just filled up pretty much as soon as it opened. I was going to send reminder PMs halfway through the week but by then we were already over 30 entrants.

I have to say that there are a few songs in there this time that I'm really loving, one in particular is a contender for my favourite ever entry. It will be difficult to narrow it down to just 12 for me.

VNV Nation? I thought any of Buzzjack members never heard of this band... ^_^

They are the very similar to Covenant (my previous entry was Covenant - Monochrome).

Have you seen the new lineup? New vocalist and all new band members bar one. Not sure what to think.

No, I hadn't realised they had changed. An indie-Sugababes approach doth not appeal as such but I'll give it a listen. Can't imagine they'll top Ghost Is Not Real though.
