Elisa's are a popular Swedish dansband, a dansband being a musical group that specialises in the genre of Schlager. I had to post this song because it's the best example of a new pure schlager song that I've heard in quite a few years. It's had such an effect on me that I even had a dream last night that Steps translated it into English and used it as their comeback single, which duly went straight to #1, can you even imagine? :lol: Quick, somebody recommend it to Sony now!

A frantic drum intro, a jaunty piano verse that harks back to ABBA, Charlotte Nilsson and a hundred other amazing Swedish hits (and Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - the closest the UK ever inadvertently got to Schlager pre-Steps and the like). It also throws in some glorious backing strings, handclaps, a great middle 8, a triumphant key change and a perfectly abrupt ending. Amazing!

There probably aren't that many non-Eurovision schlager fans on Buzzjack as it's either a genre that you're going to love or hate but this is definitely worth a listen anyway if you think you might be open to the genre because it's absolutely brilliant! It's streaming here;

All that and it's not even a single - just an album track from their new album!

Don't ignore the schlager! Prove to me that unknown acts/songs can be shared and enjoyed on this forum without being entered into a song competition :drama:
I listened when you first posted it! It is indeed very schlager-ish but I didn't feel the need to comment, as I didn't have anything to say about it, and neither do I now :(

As did I, I even meant to comment as well, I completely forgot about it. :drama:

All I could think of while listening to it was 'foreign language Waterloo', but better and brought up to date. Euphoric is a good word, I think. So it is a very good effort!

I saw this on Scandipop, I do rather like it, it is very much like Waterloo! I'm sure I'd connect more if it was in English, but it's nice enough.

I know a lot of people won't care for it at all but I still wanted to post it because I wouldn't dare enter it into BJSC - the one and only time I entered a pure Schlager song it came 20th (Värsta Schlagern by Markoolio & Linda Bengtzing - a heavenly example of the genre). It's far from a popular genre on this forum but surely I can't be the only person that would love it on here!?! Melodifestivalen fans get in here :drama:

Nobody Without You and By My Side had schlager influence and both managed top five, but Värsta Schlagern was just as 'in your face' as this is. Such an excellent genre, although I appreciate that it's a marmite one!

That is fabulous! It would have been awesome in Melodifestivalen this year!

I'd be shocked if it's not a reject, it's exactly three minutes in length! If it's not then kudos to them for just writing a song that sticks to that formula regardless of if they had any intention of submitting it to Melodifestivalen!

Will check it out when I get home, 110% sure I'll love it :D
Very... errrm Swedish.

Splendid as anticipated *.*

That said I keep translating the title in my head as "Linen In My Hand" :lol:
