January 23, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts: 21 battling for 21st week at number one Source: MW 15:50 | Wednesday January 25, 2012 By Paul Williams Singles Island/Lava’s Jessie J is very likely to lose her singles crown with Domino after two weeks this Sunday as Barbadian act Cover Drive prepare to score their second UK hit with a number one. The newly-issued Twilight is around 15,000 sales ahead of Domino as it gets set to follow breakthrough hit Lick Ya Down, which peaked at nine last year, into the Top 10. Positiva/Virgin’s David Guetta track Titanium featuring Sia is in third place, the same position it held on last Sunday’s chart, while Sia is lined up to feature on a second Top 10 hit with the Atlantic-issued Wild Ones by Flo Rida, which includes the Australian singer, showing up as a midweek new entry at five. Flo Rida is also on course for two simultaneous Top 10 hits as Good Feeling drops on midweek sales 5-7. Island’s Rizzle Kicks fall 2-4 with Mama Do The Hump, while just ahead of the release of her debut album Polydor’s Lana Del Ray is appearing as a new entry at 10 with Born To Die as predecessor Video Games holds at 20. The MTA/Mercury-issued Get Out My Head by MTA, meanwhile, arrives in 16th place in the week to date. Among the week’s big sales gainers are RCA’s Kelly Clarkson with Stronger (up 51% to climb 11-8), The J/RCA single International Love by Pitbull featuring Chris Brown (up 31% to rise 14-13), Island’s Gotye featuring Kmibra with Somebody That I Used To Know (up 84% to move 21-15) and Virgin signing Professor Green’s Never Be Right Time (up 30% and moving 42-34). Albums Adele’s 21 is leading the race to be number one this weekend in what continues to be a very quiet albums market with its closest rivals fellow 2011 chart-toppers by Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars. However, the XL album, which returned to number one for a 20th week last Sunday and now could be on course for its 21st, was only around 300 sales ahead of nearest challenger Mylo Xyloto by Parlophone’s Coldplay up to the end of business on Tuesday, according to Official Charts Company Data. Ed Sheeran’s Asylum/Atlantic debut + is the third best seller of the week so far, while Elektra/Atlantic’s Bruno Mars is fourth with Doo-Wops & Hooligans. They are joined in the top five by another 2011 debut, Columbia act The Vaccines’ first outing What Did You Expect From The Vaccines, which moves up from its position of seven on last Sunday’s chart. Taking advantage of another quiet week for big releases, Chris Isaak could be about to land his first Top 10 album since Wicked Game reached number three in 1991. The Rhino-issued Beyond The Sun is currently showing up as a new entry at six, a place ahead of Roadrunner act Lamb Of God’s newly-arrived Resolution. Following his appearance on Jonathan Ross’s ITV1 chat show last Sunday, Seal is enjoying a near tripling of sales for Reprise/Warner Bros album Soul 2, which moves in the midweeks 68-16. There are also big sales gains for two Sony Simon & Garfunkel albums with Greatest Hits moving 33-22 on a 164% week-on-week sales lift and Bridge Over Troubled Water rising 95-57 with sales improving 414%. There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday, if there is any chart info, please provide a source, so the info can be checked out first, we just have to be careful what to post on here on a Tuesday. On Wednesday Radio 1 Chart Top 40 mid update will be posted with links to Radio 1 and any other chart info from MW and OCC from 4pm On Thursdays there will be no mids from MW but any chart info that is found please provide a source. January 24, 201214 yr Author No early indications of the mids on OCC facebook or twitter today. We did get a MW mid update last Tuesday morning, but nothing there. We could say Cover Drive has definitely got the #1 in the singles though just by looking at the iTunes thread topic, as for the albums its a 3 way tie between Ed Sheeran, Adele and Coldplay or a new album release on paltry sales..
