January 25, 201214 yr I mostly agree but SHM won't be behind Flo Rida [GF], especially with the Tommy Trash remix being reduced to 59p. I think they could be #6, or #7 if Gotye takes off a lot over the week. I also think Labrinth or Olly will be top 15 instead of Coldplay. And I think Pitbull could challenge for top 10 instead of Taio. (Basically I don't agree at all :kink:) Completely forgot about Labrinth, yeah I'd imagin he'll be #15 at least.
January 25, 201214 yr Albums have now updated and Adele has reclaimed the #1 - the #1 album this week is impossible to call! Coldplay at #2, Ed at 3, Bruno at 4 and The Vaccines up to 5 :D Chris Isaak is the highest new entry at #6, Lamb Of God are at #7, First Aid Kit (whatever that is) are #27, Lacuna Coil #28 (might not go top 40 then) and Rodrigo Y Gabriela are #40. LMFAO are a re-entry at #39 and Seal's 'Soul 2' is back in at a new peak of #16 (previously peaked at #24) :o What's with the resurgence? Rizzle Kicks are at a new peak of #8 (that'd be a fitting peak as I said the other day :P But they'll likely end up at least a place higher as I can't see Lamb Of God staying ahead). Amazing how much 'Mama Do The Hump' has done for this album, even if it is in a pathetic sales environment. Other climbers: Jessie J 10-9 Foster The People 14-11 (I really hope it doesn't fall through the week this time) Professor Green 23-20 Simon & Garfunkel 33-22 David Guetta 38-29 Foo Fighters 34-30 Snow Patrol 37-33 Enter Shikari are down to #23 so far. January 25, 201214 yr Seal was the musical guest on Jonathan Ross this week. Are the iTunes reductions being advertised again? Three have climbed and Kasabian are a non-mover. Enter shikari down to 23
January 25, 201214 yr Insane that Sia is set to have simultaneous top five hits on Sunday, she's always been so criminally underrated. Shame that to get them she had to piggybag onto two acts who could sell the sound of them sneezing in large quantities. I do hope that UK radio/the public are more supportive of her next solo album as a result of these but I won't hold my breath :(
January 25, 201214 yr Barbadian 4-piece Cover Drive are heading towards their first Official Number 1 single this weekend with new release Twilight. Their second single taken from forthcoming debut album Bajan Style, is the follow up to debut Top 10 single Lick Ya Down which reached Number 9 in 2011. The band today lead the Official Singles Chart race, ahead of last week’s chart topper, Jessie J’s Domino (2), by 16,000 copies. Elsewhere, new release Wild Ones from Flo Rida FT Sia (5), gives the US rapper no less than two entries in today’s Official Chart Update Top 10, as previous Number 1 Good Feeling continues to hover in seventh place. New Top 10 entries today are completed by Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die (10). Lana joins Flo Rida in claiming multiple entries in the Top 40, with her previous hit Video Games standing firm at Number 20. Bristol DJ/Producer Redlight is set to be this week’s fourth new entry in the Official Singles Chart Top 40 with Get Out Of My Head. The old school house track features the vocal talents of fellow Bristolian and former X Factor contestant, Nicole Jackson, who made it to the judge’s houses stage in 2009 before being passed over for Rachel Adedeji. On the day that the late Etta James would have celebrated her 74th birthday, the soul singer who sadly passed away last week advances nine places to Number 30 with At Last. http://www.theofficialcharts.com/chart-new...icial-number-1/
January 25, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts: 21 battling for 21st week at number one Source: MW 15:50 | Wednesday January 25, 2012 By Paul Williams Albums Adele’s 21 is leading the race to be number one this weekend in what continues to be a very quiet albums market with its closest rivals fellow 2011 chart-toppers by Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars. However, the XL album, which returned to number one for a 20th week last Sunday and now could be on course for its 21st, was only around 300 sales ahead of nearest challenger Mylo Xyloto by Parlophone’s Coldplay up to the end of business on Tuesday, according to Official Charts Company Data. Ed Sheeran’s Asylum/Atlantic debut + is the third best seller of the week so far, while Elektra/Atlantic’s Bruno Mars is fourth with Doo-Wops & Hooligans. They are joined in the top five by another 2011 debut, Columbia act The Vaccines’ first outing What Did You Expect From The Vaccines, which moves up from its position of seven on last Sunday’s chart. Taking advantage of another quiet week for big releases, Chris Isaak could be about to land his first Top 10 album since Wicked Game reached number three in 1991. The Rhino-issued Beyond The Sun is currently showing up as a new entry at six, a place ahead of Roadrunner act Lamb Of God’s newly-arrived Resolution. Following his appearance on Jonathan Ross’s ITV1 chat show last Sunday, Seal is enjoying a near tripling of sales for Reprise/Warner Bros album Soul 2, which moves in the midweeks 68-16. There are also big sales gains for two Sony Simon & Garfunkel albums with Greatest Hits moving 33-22 on a 164% week-on-week sales lift and Bridge Over Troubled Water rising 95-57 with sales improving 414%. Three further albums are showing up as brand new entries within the Top 40: Wichita Recordings’ First Aid Kit are presently 27th with The Lion’s Roar, Century Media’s Lacuna Coil 28th with Dark Adrenaline and the Ruby Works-issued Area 52 by Rodrigo Y Gabriella and Cuba 40th. ================================== Singles Island/Lava’s Jessie J is very likely to lose her singles crown with Domino after two weeks this Sunday as Barbadian act Cover Drive prepare to score their second UK hit with a number one. The newly-issued Twilight is around 15,000 sales ahead of Domino as it gets set to follow breakthrough hit Lick Ya Down, which peaked at nine last year, into the Top 10. Positiva/Virgin’s David Guetta track Titanium featuring Sia is in third place, the same position it held on last Sunday’s chart, while Sia is lined up to feature on a second Top 10 hit with the Atlantic-issued Wild Ones by Flo Rida, which includes the Australian singer, showing up as a midweek new entry at five. Flo Rida is also on course for two simultaneous Top 10 hits as Good Feeling drops on midweek sales 5-7. Island’s Rizzle Kicks fall 2-4 with Mama Do The Hump, while just ahead of the release of her debut album Polydor’s Lana Del Ray is appearing as a new entry at 10 with Born To Die as predecessor Video Games holds at 20. The MTA/Mercury-issued Get Out My Head by MTA, meanwhile, arrives in 16th place in the week to date. Among the week’s big sales gainers are RCA’s Kelly Clarkson with Stronger (up 51% to climb 11-8), The J/RCA single International Love by Pitbull featuring Chris Brown (up 31% to rise 14-13), Island’s Gotye featuring Kmibra with Somebody That I Used To Know (up 84% to move 21-15) and Virgin signing Professor Green’s Never Be Right Time (up 30% and moving 42-34).
January 25, 201214 yr Official Charts @officialcharts: .@WeAreCoverDrive's #Twilight is outselling @jessiejofficial's #Domino by 16,000 copies. bit.ly/yxUg6g Dear God. On the positive side, we might finally be heading for some decent #1 sales again after 3 average weeks. Unless Jessie is selling bugger all. Are the iTunes reductions being advertised again? Three have climbed and Kasabian are a non-mover. Enter shikari down to 23 I think they just sell the majority of their sales at the start of the week so they fade out by the end of the week, hence why they initially show up as climbers - that's what I assume happened last week anyway. January 25, 201214 yr , First Aid Kit (whatever that is) are #27, Thousands of indie kids glare at Bre in disgust.
January 25, 201214 yr Thousands of indie kids glare at Bre in disgust. I just Googled it and I have actually heard of them (well, I've heard the song 'Emmylou' anyway), their name just didn't immediately ring a bell for some reason.
January 25, 201214 yr Just heard that Coverdrive song for the first time on the chart show - its no-where near as awful as I first thought it would be!
January 25, 201214 yr Author I just played Redlight for the first time, now I know where I've seen Nicole before, yes I know I'm a bit slow. -_-
January 25, 201214 yr I guess the good thing about Cover Drive's success is that boy-girl groups clearly aren't dead. When Steps release the MAX TRACK that will be their proper comeback single, it'll be a million seller before year's end :kink:
January 25, 201214 yr Ugh. Pleased to see Cher Lloyd hang on in both charts (despite falling 8 places in both! :nocheer:) and I'm annoyed Kelly Clarkson can't find her way back into the top 40 with these low sales! :drama: She needs another, lengthy run inside the top 40 albums chart :(
January 25, 201214 yr I guess the good thing about Cover Drive's success is that boy-girl groups clearly aren't dead. The difference between boy/girl groups, and male artists ft female singers (& vice versa), seems purely academic to me.
January 25, 201214 yr Just heard that Coverdrive song for the first time on the chart show - its no-where near as awful as I first thought it would be! The very definition of damning with faint praise surely? :D

When Steps release the MAX TRACK that will be their proper comeback single, it'll be a million seller before year's end :kink: Yes they are a mixed group but it feels like the girl is singing the whole song and the guy is a 'featured' artist. I wouldn't bet on Steps being sucessful this year, their sound is really dated
January 25, 201214 yr If Amy Winehouse had not died so Adele would have 23 weeks at number one!! not fair! I was in the boxing day tsunami and I lost my body board, not fair! I didn't really but thats just a ridiculous thing to say  be sad that we lost an amazing talent, not that Adele lost a few weeks at number one with low sales...
January 25, 201214 yr Yes they are a mixed group but it feels like the girl is singing the whole song and the guy is a 'featured' artist. I wouldn't bet on Steps being sucessful this year, their sound is really dated Of course it is, they haven't made a single for 10 years  Who knows what they sound like now. It could be amazing (it probably won't be amazing).

I know Steps won't be getting any more #1 singles ever again (although they only ever had two to start with!), but I'd love to see them achieve a Boyzone size comeback of a #1 album and a couple of top ten singles!
