September 9, 201212 yr OH MY GOD Azarenka was serving out for the match and the championship there and Serena just TURNED IT ON and snatched victory away from her. Fabulous! She's got 15 grand slam titles now and I reckon she's got at least one more in her.
September 10, 201212 yr I'm literally just reading the bbc feed but i still can't go to bed until this shit is over. I wanna see what's going on so badd.
September 11, 201212 yr Bloody hell. Missed the first four sets and then had the radio on for the last game. Massive congratulations to Andy, you have to think that any other year he'd walk Sports Personality.
September 11, 201212 yr I'm pleased for him, but Djokovic played better for 75% of that match so I'm not sure he deserved it. His attitude on court was truly terrible as well.
September 11, 201212 yr It was more about coping with the conditions than dominating the court last night. To be able to come back from being pegged back to two sets all and win with a double break in the 5th is the mark of a champion.
September 11, 201212 yr I'm not denying he's a champion. Just wish the match could've been higher quality I suppose. Even with the conditions neither of them found much momentum that lasted beyond a couple of games. Points were being lost, not won. Quite frustrating. Not a patch on the stunning womens' final. Oh I'm not denying it was a scrap and both can play a lot better. Between them I think they've got the hard court game wrapped up for the next couple of years, I can't see Murray not getting at least one more. It was also nice to see the Grand Slam sequence I predicted might happen a couple of years ago (Djokovic-Nadal-Federer-Murray in that order) finally materialised. [/braymoment]
September 11, 201212 yr Massive congratulations to Andy Murray - a truly historical and brilliant moment in British tennis. I'm so pleased for him. :D It sounded like it was quite a good match to watch though (at least that was the impression I got from the BBC Radio 5 Live commentary), however it was thought that Djokovic was quite tired, though that shouldn't take anything away from Murray who has been playing really well this year. A GOLD and a Grand Slam within the space of 5 weeks, doesn't get much better than that? Nobody has ever done that either I believe, not even Federer.

Don't forget he got an Olympic silver medal as well. Add in Wimbledon and that's four major finals in two months.
September 11, 201212 yr INCREDIBLE. Gutted as a tennis fan, that I didn't watch it past the third set, due to needing to get up for an early morning, but I've recorded it on Sky+, watched it back, and I'm just so happy. Like Charlie said, it's unbelievable to think he still probably doesn't stand a chance at winning Sports Personality of the Year despite how superb this year has been for him.
September 11, 201212 yr Especially considering Greg Rusedski won it in '97 for just getting to the final that Andy just won!! Man the nineties must have been terrible for sport.
September 11, 201212 yr It's not 90s though really, it's just 2012, look at the last three years. If he'd have done this (without Olympics, obv) in any of those he'd have ran away with it with 50%+ of the votes. That's not to say that the likes of McCoy and Cavendish weren't deserving winners, because they were, but they'd never have got close if this was the Murray they were up against.
September 11, 201212 yr For Sports Personality of The Year, Murray is 5-2 to win with most bookies although he is the second favourite behind Bradley Wiggins. I'll be very surprised if Murray isn't in the Top3 at least. Definitely agree with what Charlie said, he would have won in any other year. :offtopic: But Paddy Power have Kevin Pietersen at 500-1 to win Sports Personality of The Year. What the hell? September 12, 201212 yr Surely Mo Farah will win sports personality? Murray winning it would be an ironic contradiction given that his personality is non-existent at best and unpleasant at worst.

If somebody is stupid enough to want to put money on Pietersen then the bookies will quote odds. They're in business to make money and a stupid person's money is as good as anyone else's to them. Surely Mo Farah will win sports personality? Murray winning it would be an ironic contradiction given that his personality is non-existent at best and unpleasant at worst. Murray's tears after Wimbledon helped to change many people's perception of him. The award ought to be named Sports Person of the Year as it's never been a requirement for the winner to have much of a personality. After all, Princess Anne won it in 1970-something and she has less personality than a cabbage.
