After Ricky Martin, Enritue Iglesias & Shakira - He's the new Latin star and is from Brazil same as Los Del Rio (remember Macarena)

This single is massive all over mainland Europe

I say deserves Top 5

It's currently #1 in the following countries:

France - Belgium (Walloon) - Belgium (Flanders) - Germany - Holland - Austria - Spain - Cyprus - Slovenia - Switzerland - Greece - Luxembourg and #2 in Portugal

Where would it chart here if released in the UK

I get the feeling this will eventually make its way to the lower half of the top 20 like 'Danza Kuduro' did.
Probably about 21-40, even though the 'language barrier' would normally stop it it's been too huge in Europe to pass the UK by. But it won't get much higher than low top 20 if it's VERY lucky, so I'll say around about 30ish as per most massive Euro hits with huge delay til UK release (Waka Waka - though that sold LOADS -, Satellite, Alors On Danse etc.).
It's already been released in the UK (read my most recent post in the iTunes thread). It's just entered the top 300.

This is pure "guilty pleasure" material. The only way this will be a hit in the UK is if it's played across Europe in the summer and becomes a UK holiday hit in August/September. Personally, I just can't see this being a hit before then - and even then an August/September hit is doubtful.

The UK don't buy music in the same way as the Europeans. Then again, 'We No Speak Americano' hit the UK #1 spot so I suppose with enough TV and radio support (which I can't see happening with the latter) it could do well.

Voted 21-40 regardless.

21-40 unless the english version is released. In which case Top 20

The Brits are so snobbish. Why should language be a barrier. After all countries who's language is not English buy English Language music.

Even artists that are normally big in the UK, if they record a song in a different language either flops or doesn't get released

Here's a few examples - Shakira - La Tortura -- Shakira - Rabiosa -- Jennifer Lopez - Qué Hiciste -- Nelly Furtado - Manos Al Aire

I would hardly say we are snobbish? Why would we waste money on something we don't understand?
I can see the point, but 'snobbish' is the wrong way to go about it. Thing is, radio and TV just don't support foreign language music, so many people simply don't know it exists!
He has recorded a version in English, most likely for US and UK releases.

Ahh, indeed he has.

Michel Teló - If I Catch You

I much prefer the orginal though. The UK version sounds like it's had all the novelty comedy value sucked right out of it. :(

Los Del Rio are from Spain

Guys, really, you're either crazy or stupid,

this song is a surefire year end top 5 hit.

It's been the most successful song in Israel for two months.

gonna be huge in the UK as well if released properly in the English version.

Kobbar, when Continental Europe lead, the UK does not necessarily follow.

Stromae's "Alors on danse" was a top 10 smash all over Europe and it stiffed at #25.

This song will not be a hit on for the following reasons:

1) Where is the guest rap by either Flo Rida or Pitbull eh? :nono:

2) I hear no reference to being in a "club" or hands being in the "Ay-ah!" :o

and finally

3) he has no devotional fanbase to snap this up regardless of how good or otherwise it is

p.s please read SOME degree of Sarcasm into these comments!

It's not snobbishness in the slightest, stop getting on your high horse. It's a small group of radio and TV controllers who don't want to playlist it and frankly I can understand why. Big hits from abroad can come over here and do well (witness "Somebody That I Used To Know") but the song generally has to be very good, be plastered all over TV (We No Speak Americano) or have extreme novelty value (Loca People)

In most fields I'm fiendishly pro-European but I actually like that the UK charts are so different.

You could say the same thing about the rest of the world who's native language isn't English - but THEY do.

You can't understand rap but it's still sells here.

So you're saying you don't understand what he's saying here?

Jesus christ.
