 24 Maverick Sabre/ Let Me Go. Set to be a re-entry in the Top40 on Sunday?

 104 Jay-Z & Kanye West/ Ni**as In Paris

115 The White Stripes/ Seven Nation Army. This is 59p? Or because Marcus Collins is releasing this as his first single of his album?

Have you actually listened to the original? Any more of Bon Iver's output?

Why'd you ask?

Yes of course I've heard Iver's original - I checked it out when Birdy first charted with it. I wasn't keen on it though - IMO Birdy's version is far superior.

And, no I haven't heard much else of his songs - his type of music doesn't really appeal to me.

Asking because it's one of those covers where I struggle to see how people can prefer it to the original. Obviously it's not Duran Duran covering "911 Is A Joke" bad, but it's hardly an imaginative cover.

In my opinion both versions aren't at all inspiring and are, dare I say, dull but at least Birdy has a haunting vocal on her version.

She's a 15 year old British girl. Obviously the UK are going to prefer Birdy's cover. Even if it's just because of the "aww, isn't she sweet" OAP opinion. :P

Personally I don't get what's so special about Birdy. There are plenty of young girls in the UK who are very talented, can sing and play piano but they don't have recording contracts. Birdy must have "something special" like a relative working in the music industry. A famous phrase being "it's not what you know, it's who you know". Either that or her parents are very wealthy.

Birdy won a talent competition with the prize of a record contract.

 100. Ni**as in Paris - JAY Z & Kanye West

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Still climbing really fast, maybe this could even go top 40?

And since I already mentioned that 'I'm Day Dreaming' would be Akon's 35th top 100 hit and 'The Motto' would be Lil Wayne's 32nd, 'Niggas In Paris' would be Kanye West's 38th! (I assume Jay-Z's tally is similar or greater but I can't easily check that as my spreadsheet only goes back to 2003 at the moment; Akon, Lil Wayne and Kanye West both debuted since then so to find their tallies all I need to do is a quick Ctrl+F :P)

16K COPIES OF gOTYE SOLD IN THE PAST 24HRS ACCORDING TO THE DATA THERE - THAT MEANS IT COULD BE ON FOR 85-90K THIS WEEK - THAT RIGHT?
Weird to see will.i.am and co. down to #5 on iTunes now - just goes to show delaying it's release for so long has just encouraged illegal downloading, that or people got fed up with it before it came out. Should still debut at #3 on Sunday though - but with DJ Fresh and Emeli Sande to hopefully debut within the top 10, it could find itself down to #6/7 officially in its second week.

With 20% more than Titanium that means... 3.2K more than the number 2... that means the number 1 for them is secure.

MusicWeek says Gotye needs to outsell Guetta by 2K today and tomorrow. He has outsold him by 3K on Wednesday-Thursday. With that 23% itunes lead its looking Ok for now.

Or regardless of holding back the release the song itself isnt very good so wasnt going to do amazingly anyway..

Off topic but Katy Perry has announced an on-air on-sale(ish) new single called Part Of Me is coming out on 21st Feb (I assume as it's a Tuesday, it'll be a simealtaneous UK/US release). Apparently Capital premiere it on Monday, so it will have a week to build up airplay, I'll be interested to see how it does!

It's been out there in demo form for like a year though

 50. Heaven - Emeli Sandé

This will most likely return to the top 40 next week with the album version out to help it then.

From the demo and preview of the single version I think top 5 at best. It's very copy cat of her previous singles and it's nothing amazing!

Just noticed Emeli Sandé 'Next To Me' is already #2 on Ireland iTunes so I think it's very likely that Emeli will be no. 1 next week in the UK.
God I really hope so. Hot Right Now is so average, I wasn't keen on Louder but I prefer that. Next To Me is my least favourite of Emeli's singles but it's still great!

Isn't it a two horse race between Emeli and DJ Fresh? I'd love to see the former get it, if only because I can imagine it hanging around for ages with the latter disappearing in a matter of weeks.

You even prefer 'Daddy'? I think 'Next To Me' is her best single to date and when I first heard it, I thought instantly that it had #1 potential. Then again, I thought the same about 'She Said' by Plan B so nothing is guaranteed. :P
