From Digital Spy:

Tenacious D have announced plans to release a new album later this year.

The duo - consisting of Jack Black and Kyle Gass - will unveil their third studio record Rize of the Fenix in May.

It will be the pair's first collection of new music since 2006's The Pick of Destiny which entered the top ten in both the US and UK charts upon its release.

Tenacious D have also announced their first North American tour date, which will be a Memorial Day performance in Washington at the Sasquatch Festival.

The duo will also play a set at this year's Download festival in the UK, which takes place at Donington Park on June 8-10.

Dodgy album title and cover and the preview doesn't sound amazing, butt I'm still very interested. I can't imagine it not having at least a handful of great moments.

stuff you guys, it's THE MOTHERf***ING D.

I'm pumped. I still look back on them opening for Metallica at Reading 2008, perhaps the best booking that festival has ever done.

Oh, well, I suppose someone has to like them..... :P

And that album cover is just well dodgy... They'll never get it past the Wal-Mart prudes.....

Sometimes you don't have to f*** her hard, in fact some times, that's not right, to do...

Looking back, their first album, which I used to hate, really wasn't that bad. Wonderboy and Tribute remain amazing for a starter! And it's good fun. :D The Pick Of Destiny (album/film), I didn't bother with for some reason, but the song was awesome. :D

That artwork would seriously not make it onto shelves, would it?

Is it me or does the phoenix/Fenix have big breasts?

did you not notice it's a penis.

did you not notice it's a penis.

Exactly my thoughts. :(

New single out in full and on iTunes.

It's rather good. And failing that, just to get you excited:

500k views in 20 hours, like a boss.

that video is so f***ing brilliant. i've watched it like 3 times.

"There was no more Kyle Gass, just Rage Kage, he got committed to a mental institution while Jack Black was commited to getting himself rich and famous".

they're clearly doing this more for fun than to make money, it's great. Very excited to see their Brixton show.

My mate's convinced they'll be announced for Leeds at some point, I so hope he's right.

guy from efestivals reckons after download they'll be added as a subheadliner.

seems weird though because normally it would just be listed as 'special guests' when they have a situation like that.

It's available to stream now, four tracks in and I'm not sold yet.

EDIT: It picks up towards the end, still not massively impressed but then the first half of "The Pick of Destiny" (the album, not the film) didn't grow on me for ages either.

I like it, expecting it to grow on me though as it's currently not at the other 2 albums standard yet. It's more musically good and less funny you could say.
