July 22, 201410 yr What an absolute delight  'Sexoteque' and 'Paradise is You' (my god the latter is the album's tear-jerker and then some) are both brilliant. The album feels far too short though, and ends with a slight dud in 'The Feeling' but i am still a major fan and so happy the album even got to see the light of day after doubting it would for years and years. A solid album. Not really a patch on the debut i don't think though, but then what is??
July 25, 201410 yr Wonderful album. Agree with Haus about 'Paradise is You' and 'Sexoteque' – they're my two favourites at the moment. The latter could easily become my favourite La Roux song soon enough. THAT CHORUS. Unsure how it compares to the debut at the moment but I don't think that really matters, both great pop albums!
July 28, 201410 yr #6 on the album charts with 8,391 copies sold. The debut entered at #2 with 62,650...I know album sales have gone down but that really is a disastrous result by any account.
July 30, 201410 yr Is it really any surprise? She has no hit, she was never gonna be anything other than a low selling top 10 with three weeks top 100. She should just be happy it's not a Nocturnes situation.
July 30, 201410 yr It's kinda sad how all my late 2000s musical icons of my late teens/very early twenties have constantly flopped on their comebacks - back then I was a huge fan of Mika, Alphabeat, Sam Sparro, Hot Chip, and probably La Roux most of all, absolutely none of which made it into the next decade with a truly big-selling single. Indeed I was amazed - and delighted - when Katy B had a #5 out of nowhere earlier this year, one of my 2010-11 equivalents, but she seems to have been an exception. It's making me already feel old at 25 and wondering who in the current charts will still be relevant even in a couple of years!
August 1, 201410 yr how good is this album?! 'Silent Partner', 'Sexotheque', 'Tropical Chancer', 'Uptight downtown' and 'LMDG' are so so good. Shame this is a commercial flop but hey the content is fantastic
August 31, 201410 yr Next single is apparently 'Kiss and Not Tell'. Won't do a thing but a very decent choice. Aside, i am still very much living for this and think it could well overtake 'Z' as my favourite release of the year :o Much more consistent than the debut and the highs are just as wonderful. Every track apart from two ('The Feeling' and 'Silent Partner' - both of which are trying so hard to win me over and slowly getting there) are 9+/10.
September 6, 201410 yr This has finally grown on me MASSIVELY as a whole, after being pretty disappointed at first! I love every single track, especially Sexoteque and The Feeling. Edited September 6, 201410 yr by Heezus
September 6, 201410 yr I'd have probably plumped for 'Sexotheque' as the next single, not that it matters though as whatever they go with is a #576 smash in the waiting.
September 6, 201410 yr I swear I read somewhere that Sexotheque was announced as the 2nd single? Though it doesn't really matter, I don't expect a music video since they didn't bother with Uptight Downtown.
September 6, 201410 yr That would have been the obvious move but it's definitely confirmed as this now: God i love this album too much and i'm trying hard to imagine what it would have been like if it was as commercially successful as the last like it deserves to be. But alas, as long as it's not another 5 year gap until the next i am content~
September 6, 201410 yr I swear I read somewhere that Sexotheque was announced as the 2nd single? Though it doesn't really matter, I don't expect a music video since they didn't bother with Uptight Downtown. It was a rumour based on it being added to Interscope's Soundcloud page. It may well be the next US single Edited September 6, 201410 yr by ManicKangaroo
September 8, 201410 yr Looks like they actually bothered to make a video and it's pretty good! D8axiZqKkcw
September 8, 201410 yr Fabulous video! Love the concept and execution. This retro, Hitchcockian vibe she has for this and the last single artwork too is right up my street
November 13, 201410 yr Saw her live last week and was blown away again. It was 50/50 with the 09/14 material (she missed out 'Paradise is You' and 'The Feeling' but it made sense because they didn't let the tempo dip at all which these songs would have caused). Hearing 'Tigerlily' et al reworked the ways in which they were, was spellbinding  And this~ Fabulous remix. She needs to release a Gold Edition for this album too. Can't get enough. My artist of the year.
November 13, 201410 yr God she really was SPECTACULAR live. She's come on leaps and bounds since '09 as a performer.
