I think TF...1994-2009 was the first time 'Whatever' became available to download, hence how it did so well. Don't quote me on that though.

Ah, that would make sense actually since it was only on single format and iTunes didn't generally backdate single releases that predated the store like they did with albums (if that makes any sense?)

55. BACK TO BLACK- Amy Winehouse (382,400)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ed/Back_to_Black_cover.JPG

RELEASED: 27:10:06

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 22

CHARTING TRACKS:

BACK TO BLACK (8)

TEARS DRY ON THEIR OWN (27)

REHAB (29)

LOVE IS A LOSING GAME (33)

YOU KNOW I’M NO GOOD (37)

VALERIE (41)

WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW (62)

TOTAL SALES: 3,414,400

The third best selling album of the noughties (and thusly the century so far) was propelled once again to No 1 following news of Winehouse’s death on 23rd July 2011, the title track similarly experienced a surge in demand making the top 10 for the first time. The addition sales helped to make the album, briefly, the biggest of the century managing to sail past Dido and James Blunt.

54. CEREMONIALS- Florence + The Machine (384,500)

RELEASED: 30:10:11

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 9

CHARTING TRACKS:

SHAKE IT OUT (12)

WHAT THE WATER GAVE ME (24)

Whilst their debut album took 6 months to make it to No 1, sophomore set “Ceremonials” was an instant No 1 with sales just short of the 100k mark. Florence Welch (lead singer and natural brunette) is naturally the focus of the group and has stated that the album was designed to be a lot less indie and a lot more soulful, whether a success or not on that front, initial sales indicate this may be heading towards the million mark like its predecessor.

53. FOREVER VIENNA- Andre Rieu (386,600)

RELEASED: 28:12:09

PEAK POSITION: 2

WKS ON CHART: 22

CHARTING TRACKS: NONE

TOTAL SALES: 403,900

Dutch composer, violinist, and conductor, Rieu has been head of the Johann Strauss Orchestra since the 80s but only really came to fame in the 00s. He’s relatively controversial in the world of classical music, creating a stir in Australia during 2008 for his lavish OTT stage sets and sense of theatricality which some found too much, however he seems to have a flair for self promotion which eventually reaped rewards, this album the first of two on our rundown.

Back To Black overtook Back To Bedlam shortly after Amy's death, so it's the second highest selling album of the century to date.

Which is what I wrote

Oh I see I meant the 3rd best seller of the noughties (2000-2009) and therefore the century so far (in terms of full decades into the century) then it surpassed both the albums I mentioned and then fell to No 2. Apologies for confusion. :D

52. BROTHER- Boyzone (395,300)

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 16

CHARTING TRACKS:

GAVE IT ALL AWAY (9)

LOVE IS LIKE A HURRICANE ( 44)

Seeing the great success of the reformed Take That inspired the reformation of this 90s boyband in 2007 with a new greatest hits set and tour, along with their first top 10 hit in 8 years with “Love You Anyway”. Having all gone relatively swimmingly a studio album was recorded for release in 2010, but it was Gately’s death in October 2009 that caused the band to title it “Brother” in his honour. Fellow pop star Mika penned their (to date) last top 10 hit “Gave It All Away”, and the album opened with the biggest sales of any of their studio albums.

ONE SHOT (6)

EVERYBODY IN LOVE (30)

BEAT AGAIN (54)

TOTAL SALES: 1,368,300

And right back to the beginning we go with the boyband’s debut album. When it was released in late 2009 it caused major upset in the album charts by narrowly defeated Robbie Williams' new album “Reality Killed The Video Star” to the top (the first time a Robbie studio album had not reached No 1), and went on to sell a million before the year end 09 to establish them as the hottest boyband on the scene. A couple of BRIT victories in early 2010 didn’t harm sales either, subsequent albums have yet to pass the million mark though.

50. GREATEST HITS- Westlife (423,200)

CHARTING TRACKS:

LIGHTHOUSE (32)

With an enviable 26 top 10 hits including 14 Number ones Westlife were undoubtedly one of the groups of the noughties selling more singles than anyone apart from Eminem. It all however came to an end last year when the boyband announced they were splitting and the obligatory “Greatest Hits” followed in time for Christmas, the band were asked if they wanted to re-record McFadden’s vocals but turned down the opportunity. Previous GH set “Unbreakable” sold a million in the noughties, only time will tell if this set replicates that success.

CHARTING TRACKS:

PACK UP (5)

SKINNY GEANS (22)

ROLLERBLADES (58)

Something I never knew! Eliza’ s mother was none other than Frances Ruffelle, she of UK Eurovision entrant of 1994 with “Lonely Symphony”, clearly singing runs in her veins. Though “Skinny Genes” was a middling hit it took lifting a chorus from a 1915 song “Pack Up Your Troubles” to really galvanise her debut album to generate the sales, she’s currently recording that second album and in the meanwhile is hoping to make waves in the modelling world.

BEST THING I NEVER HAD (3)

RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS) (11)

LOVE ON TOP (22)

COUNTDOWN (35)

END OF TIME (62)

1 +1 (71)

Meanwhile brand Knowles continues the success story with another platinum album. In addition to giving birth and headlining “Glastonbury” in 2011, no less than 6 tracks made the top 75, so whilst there was perhaps less massive hits than “Sasha Fierce” there was certainly enough profile to launch the album. After the success of the previous album, Beyonce took time off and rested, parted company with her father (as manager only!), and took her time to record this album. The reward was a chart topper on both sides of the Atlantic.

47. THE WANTED- The Wanted (453,900)

RELEASED: 22:10:10

PEAK POSITION: 2

WKS ON CHART: 44

CHARTING TRACKS:

ALL TIME LOVE (1)

HEART VACANCY (2)

LOSE MY MIND (19)

Along with One Direction and JLS, The Wanted are one of the decade’s biggest boybands, their debut set now fast approaching sales of half a million. Launched in a blaze of publicity in the summer of 2010 they proved the old adage of “sling enough money at promotion and you’ll get a number one” true when “All Time Low” debuted there in August of that year, a cover of “Fight For This Love” also helped with sales, and follow up track “Heart Vacancy” was originally written for Leona Lewis but ended up narrowly failing to give the band an opening pair of chart toppers.

Had TOTALLY forgotten Eliza Doolittle! And I think everybody else has as well.

She's gonna bomb so hard next time round.

I like all of their tracks but i believe that they are not good at live performances..They are out of tune like Katy Perry. What a pity, neither of them have a bad track..If they were good at live performances, they would be bigger (This only for Wanted because Katy Perry is bigger).
