Titanium flopped as promo single? Was that irony or are you serious? :D

I hope you were just joking :D

Titanium went top 10 on iTunes was top 20 officially without any promo, video, radio support (that's why it's a promo single). What were you expecting? Shooting to number 1 as a buzz single?

Anyway Titanium was finally released fully because it was such a big hit everywhere as a promo single.

I didn't know Meet Me Halfway was released as a promo single at all

I think that refers to the physical release of the single "meet me halfway". It actually made no 1 of the back of the x factor appearance physicals weren't an enormous help by late 09.

I just hope to GOD Next To Me can pull it back for Sunday, I am sure it won't though :( Hot Right Now would ruin the string of number 1s I like (from Paradise to Somebody That I Used To Know)!

And Capital playlisted Titanium when it was a promo single last summer aswell, so it did get radio support.

Meet Me Halfway was released as a promo single before the album was released, and it didn't even go top 300 apparently.

Read All About Part III #38  I hope it keeps on climbing

Charlene Soraia #21 -_- When will this ever go away

Whitney's tracks have started to fade.

I love both so they'll keep up the streak of loving every #1 of 2012 that's not by Cover Drive :P As with Titanium/Somebody That I Used To Know the best case scenario is that both get #1. I actually SLIGHTLY prefer Titanium to STIUTK but I was still rooting for Gotye last week to boost up the number of incredible #1s.

It's a shame that Whitney, even with her death falling on a Sunday morning, isn't looking to have a posthumous top 10 hit. I would've thought that it was likely since Amy managed it and she wasn't as "legendary".

But as soon as I looked on iTunes once I heard the sad news, I had a feeling that her songs wouldn't have climbed anywhere near as much as Michael's. But then I think Michael Jackson was far more of a legend than Whitney.

I also feel that MJs song have a much broader appeal, and 99% of them are still very very listenable today, and they havent lost any of the magic.

Whitney's songs do seem more dated listening to them now (thats not to take anything away from them though!)

Why is Love the Way You Lie up to #68?! :o It's 59p, but it's been 59p since last week, and only stayed around #150 then.
From what I read, Starships is also a promo single and released to US iTunes this morning. The first single Romans In Moscow is getting released next Monday/Tuesday on US iTunes. It should be the opposite though as RIM has that huge Grammy performance so would of went up the itunes chart quite quickly but then would probably skyrocketed down while Starships would do brilliant as the first single. Or they could both be first singles; Urban and Pop.
Roman in Moscow came out ages ago didn't it? I've even heard it on Choice FM. It's quite good, but she'd NEVER release that as the first single. She's not an alternative artist. Starships is definitely the proper single. It's extremely generic, has a big chorus, etc. and is a rip-off of most of Katy Perry's discography. It sounded promising for the first few seconds, but I didn't really like it after that. :( Sounds like Till the World Ends and Dynamite aswell.

You mean Roman Holiday, but that's also a promo single. Starship is the first official single.

I presume that Dr Luke has produced it?

RedOne apparently.

Really?! :o He did say he's done a song with her, although I didn't think it'd be the lead single.

Ouch at RedOne resorting to copying Dr. Luke to stay relevant. It is better than his old sound I suppose.

Emeli now 90.9% of DJ Fresh with both combined. The single version isn't significantly dropping after all (and in fact has gained a bit on DJ Fresh since the last update), so it looks like this will be closer to the Price Tag pattern of 2 versions in the top 10 than the Rolling In The Deep pattern. The album version is still increasing quickly though and could potentially climb a few more places.

Yep, it is RedOne.

It's certainly fresher than say Down For Whatever, but it's really just a mash-up of Raise Your Glass, 'Til The World Ends and Super Bass. I don't think it sounds that generic though weirdly.

Yeah, it sounded generic when I thought it was a Dr. Luke song, but it doesn't sound generic by RedOne's standards.

And pretty much every song ever created is better than Down For Whatever!

RedOne knows he desperately needs to change his sound. He only had 2 hits in the US last year (one being an Edward Maya rip-off, the other being just a remix, so some of its success can be attributed to the far superior original version). So many of RedOne's songs, such as Rain Over Me, Dirty Dancer, Papi, etc. did poorly in the US last year. They're fed up of him now. Dr. Luke moves along with the times better, and he can do more than just one genre.

On another note, I think the Grammys might've had a slight effect on our iTunes other than Adele, since Princess of China and Runaway Baby are back in the top 300.
